Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire-Chapter 375: The First Week
Chapter 375: The First Week
"Are you alright?" Alexander asked, breaking Rain out of her thoughts. They were on their way home, with Alexander driving and Rain quietly staring out the window, deep in thought about why Michael would want information on Tim.
She turned to him with a small smile. "I’m fine, just thinking about what Michael might want to know about Tim. Those two were involved in abducting me. We haven’t found solid evidence to confirm it, but maybe this could lead to something..." freёnovelkiss.com
"You’re meeting Prosecutor Han tomorrow, right? Do you think he’ll share any details about it?" Alexander asked, glancing at her briefly.
"I hope so. I need his full cooperation to help him effectively," she replied with a sigh. The reports she had reviewed so far detailed Tim Clayton’s movements over the past month, including an unfamiliar number he had been using alongside his registered one.
Alexander broke the silence again. "Do you want to unwind somewhere? Or should we head straight home?"
Rain’s lips curved into a wide smile. "How about some fresh air at the hilltop?"
"It’s chilly this time of night. I can arrange something tomorrow evening to make it more comfortable," Alexander suggested.
Rain shook her head, still smiling. "I’ll be busy tomorrow night. Let’s do it Friday instead! And let’s take the camper van!" she added, her excitement growing.
The idea of a road trip, stopping to grill dinner under the stars, and spending the night in the camper van with Alexander was irresistible. He chuckled, charmed by her enthusiasm. "Alright, Friday it is. I’ll make sure it’s perfect for you."
As soon as they arrived at the mansion, Sanya, seated in the living room, called out, "Can we have a chat?"
Rain nodded and joined her. Sanya remained silent until Alexander left the room, her gaze following him before she turned back to Rain.
"What is it?" Rain asked, frowning slightly.
Sanya leaned forward, her tone serious. "Did you get Clifford’s invitation? His wedding is on Sunday. Are you planning to bring Alexander? Did William talk to you yet? And are you two planning to say anything about Father’s case?"
Rain took a moment to process the barrage of questions. Yes, she had received Clifford’s invitation, along with a call from him.
She had been surprised at first but genuinely happy for him. Clifford had found someone to share his life with, which was a blessing. Yet, a part of her couldn’t ignore the worry she felt about Kelly. Kelly’s condition and her role as a subject in their institute’s experimental cure weighed heavily on her mind.
Rain’s silence stretched, her thoughts distant. Sanya took the opportunity to smirk. "So, what’s the plan? You’re going alone? Because, honestly, I don’t see Alexander letting that happen. He’s been so clingy lately, even without his memories of you."
Rain blushed, unable to deny it. "I was thinking of going alone... but you’re probably right. Alexander’s instincts seem to have taken over. He’s so protective, it’s like he hasn’t forgotten that part of him."
Sanya chuckled, leaning back in her chair. "It’s kind of sweet, though, isn’t it? Seeing how much he cares even now? But seriously, how are you going to handle both the wedding and everything with Kelly? And then there’s Father’s case..."
"I asked William about it, and he doesn’t want Alexander to know about Father’s condition," Sanya said, her voice quieter now. "He thinks it’ll be too much for him, like reliving the pain all over again. So... what do you plan to do? Will you tell him or not?"
Rain sighed deeply, her thoughts tangled. "Honestly, I don’t know either," she admitted. "I think I’ll talk to Doctor Lambert first. Alexander is still recovering mentally. Missing five years of his memory is already a lot for him to process. Adding this to his plate could be overwhelming."
She paused, her gaze distant. "Though, I agree with William for now. It’s best not to say anything yet. I’m sure Father would understand, too. The last thing I want is to risk Alexander’s recovery because of this."
Sanya nodded thoughtfully, her expression softening. "It’s a tough, but I think you’re right. He’s been through enough already. Just... be careful, okay? If Alexander senses something, he might start asking questions. And you know how persistent he can be."
Rain managed a small smile. "I know. But for now, it’s better this way. One step at a time."
Rain and Sanya continued their conversation, shifting to lighter topics, including a gift for Clifford’s wedding. Sanya offered to take care of everything.
"You’ve been so busy taking care of everyone and the house, Sanya," Rain said with concern. She felt guilty for not being able to help as much.
Sanya waved her hand dismissively, a warm smile on her face. "Don’t worry about it, Rain. You know I actually enjoy these things more than the idea of being a career woman. I prefer being a housewife. It suits me."
Rain raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Sanya’s excitement grew as she continued. "I’m also planning to pursue that small restaurant I’ve always dreamed of. But I don’t plan to be a full-time chef or anything. Just occasionally, when I feel like it. Mostly, I want to focus on the family, managing the household, organizing events, and keeping everything running smoothly. That’s where my passion truly lies."
Rain chuckled, warmth spreading through her chest. "And you’re doing a fantastic job at it, Sanya. We’re all lucky to have you."
Sanya beamed, her eyes shining with gratitude. "That means a lot, Rain. Thank you."
"So tell me..." Sanya suddenly trailed off, her gaze drifting pointedly toward Rain’s stomach. Her eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Did you already have your period this month? You usually get it during the first week, right? Mine is always the second week. I’m just so excited to know!"
Rain blinked, caught off guard. She hadn’t even thought about it. "I should have my period around this week," she murmured, her hand unconsciously resting on her flat belly.
Sanya’s smile widened knowingly. "Oh, Rain, don’t tell me you haven’t noticed the signs! F
Rain’s cheeks flushed as she shook her head. "I’ve been so busy with work and everything going on, I didn’t even realize. But now that you mention it..."
Sanya clasped her hands together, practically bouncing in her seat. "You need to check!"
Rain laughed, feeling a mix of nerves and amusement. "Alright, alright. I’ll check soon but not now. It’s still early."
