Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire-Chapter 332: Memory Hiccup
Chapter 332: Memory Hiccup
Rain’s face was practically glowing as she entered the dining area, where Sanya had set up a late brunch for her. It was too late for breakfast but still early for lunch. Sanya raised an eyebrow at her friend’s unusually flustered expression.
"What happened?" Sanya asked, noticing how red Rain’s face was.
Rain quickly gave her an awkward smile, clearly deflecting. "Where’s Aunt Melanie?" she asked, swiftly changing the topic.
"Oh, she went to church with Uncle Ben, Father Rock and Aunt Vernice. They’ll be back by lunch," Sanya replied.
Rain’s smile widened. She was genuinely happy that Aunt Melanie could now move freely without any restrictions. Taking her seat, she began eating, occasionally smiling to herself, lost in thought. Sanya, however, wasn’t about to let it slide.
"Seriously, I bet something good happened. Did you stop by Xander’s room?" Sanya teased, snapping her fingers to pull Rain back from her daze.
Rain chuckled, brushing it off. "Just ask your husband about it," she said coyly. Then, quickly shifting the topic again, she asked, "Anyway, do you have plans today with William?"
Sanya let out an exaggerated sigh, pouting. "William’s so busy lately, and I don’t want to bug him when he’s swamped. But once Xander is back to full health and ready to return to work, I’m definitely telling William we’re going ahead with our cruise ship honeymoon."
Then, with a sudden sparkle in her eye, she added, "Hey, how about you and Xander join us? It’d be the perfect opportunity to have him all to yourself!"
Rain blinked at her, surprised by the suggestion. "Who would take care of the family business if both of them go on vacation?" she asked, shaking her head.
Sanya waved her hand dismissively. "Please, the business isn’t going to fall apart if they take a break. They deserve it, and so do you! Imagine the two of you, out at sea, away from all the stress, just rekindling things."
Rain laughed softly, her cheeks still tinged with pink. "Let’s focus on getting him back to full health first. One step at a time, Sanya."
"Fair enough," Sanya said with a grin. "But I’m serious. You deserve some happiness, Rain. Don’t forget that."
"Alexander is already my happiness, Sanya. Having him back like this has brought me so much joy. But I’ll think about it and see how things go. Let’s not forget Father’s condition," Rain reminded her friend gently.
"True, but Aunt Vernice is here now. Haven’t you noticed? There’s definitely something going on between those two," Sanya said with a sly grin.
Rain had already noticed the connection the moment Aunt Vernice arrived at the mansion under the pretense of having a vacation. She and Father Rock were often together, and it was clear how well they got along.
"Father Rock was so devoted to his late wife, but I think there’s no harm in opening his heart again. Still, I can understand if he’s hesitant," Rain remarked thoughtfully.
"True," Sanya agreed, nodding. "But William’s hoping his father will take a chance and start something new with Aunt Vernice. We don’t know exactly what Father Rock is thinking, but his actions speak volumes. He definitely likes Aunt Vernice as more than just a friend! William has picked up on it too."
Rain smiled softly. "Maybe this is what Father Rock needs too, a second chance at happiness. If anyone deserves it, it’s him."
"Exactly! Love is love, Rain. It can come around at any time, for anyone," Sanya said with a grin, leaning back in her chair. "Just look at you and Xander, it’s proof that life can surprise you."
Sanya held her hand and hummed, "Let’s have a vacation together once Xander is fit to do so. Besides, if there’s an emergency, we can easily come back. Or are you forgetting how ridiculously rich our husbands are? We’d have a private chopper ready to whisk us away from anywhere in the world!" she added dramatically, making Rain chuckle.
"Hmm, I’ll consider it," Rain said thoughtfully. "But for now, my priority is helping Alexander get back to his normal routine." Her face lit up with a bright smile.
Sanya, ever the mischievous one, smirked and quipped, "Right! So he can perform in bed again soon!"
Rain’s cheeks turned crimson at Sanya’s cheeky comment, and she quickly picked up a glass of water, taking a sip to mask her embarrassment. "Sanya!" she scolded, her voice a mix of exasperation and laughter.
"What? I’m just saying!" Sanya grinned mischievously, clearly enjoying the reaction she’d provoked. "You’re both young and married. It’s a perfectly valid goal."
Rain shook her head, laughing despite herself. "You’re impossible. Can’t we just focus on getting him healthy and back to his normal routine first?"
"It’s a legitimate part of recovery!" Sanya continued.
Rain shook her head, laughing along. "Everything else can wait!"
Sanya raised her hands in surrender. "Alright, alright. I’ll stop teasing... for now. But don’t forget, you’ve already done the impossible before, Rain. You made him fall for you in no time. This memory hiccup? It’s just a minor detour. You’ve got this."
Rain smiled, her heart warming at her friend’s words. "Thanks, Sanya. I hope so. I really do."
Sanya leaned forward, resting her chin on her hand with a knowing look. "Hope? No need for that. You’re Rain. You don’t just hope, you make it happen."
Rain laughed, the tension in her chest easing. "Alright, Miss Motivational Speaker, let me finish my meal in peace."
"Fine, fine," Sanya replied with a wink. "But just know I’m rooting for you and for him, too."
Rain ate with a soft smile as Sanya kept chatting away. It amused her how much Sanya and William resembled each other, especially with their endless chatter. She couldn’t help but feel grateful for how things had turned out for her friend... Sanya deserved all the happiness she was experiencing.
And now, they were legally family too, which only added to the warmth in Rain’s heart. Having Sanya as both a best friend and a sister-in-law was a blessing she didn’t take for granted. Life, despite its challenges, seemed to be aligning in the most unexpected but wonderful ways.
"But do you think Carla will try something once she finds out Xander doesn’t remember you but remembers her instead?" Sanya asked suddenly, nearly causing Rain to choke on her food.
