Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire-Chapter 330: Snowing
Chapter 330: Snowing
Rain slowly opened her eyes, blinking against the light.
"Oh, you’re finally up!" Sanya said, her voice a mix of relief and cheer.
Rain frowned, taking in the familiar ceiling above her. She immediately sat up and asked, "We’re back home?"
"Yes, we brought you and Xander back here," Sanya explained. "Dr. Lambert agreed after confirming that you passed out due to exhaustion and lack of sleep. He said you needed proper rest."
Rain’s heart skipped a beat. "Alexander is back too? Where is he?" she asked, a crease forming on her forehead.
Sanya hesitated, her expression turning awkward. "Well... he’s still adjusting. He asked to stay in another room."
Rain scoffed faintly, though her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. "That’s ruthless," she muttered. Then, with a small sigh, she added, "But I guess I shouldn’t be greedy. What matters is that he’s awake."
"Exactly!" Sanya said, her tone lifting. "You don’t need to worry. You managed to make him fall for you in less than a month before. So what if you’re starting over? You’re Rain!"
That made Rain chuckle softly. It felt surreal how much time had passed, it had been nearly three months since the accident.
She turned her gaze to the balcony and noticed the gentle snowfall outside. "It’s snowing already," she murmured.
"Yes, it started at dawn," Sanya replied with a smile. "William and I saw it while we were out running. By the way, William’s taken care of everything. He arranged for a medical team to set up here at the mansion so Alexander could recover comfortably. That should give you more time to be with him as he recuperates!"
Rain smiled at her friend’s thoughtfulness. "Thank you, Sanya. I don’t know what I’d do without you."
"Gosh, don’t get all sentimental on me," Sanya teased. Then her expression turned serious, her hands on her hips.
"Now, listen. You need to get back to being your lively self. If it weren’t for Dr. Lambert giving you something to make you sleep, you’d still be awake, wearing yourself out. Alexander is back, so take care of yourself too. He doesn’t remember you right now, and all he can recall is Carla. That means you need to stay alert."
Rain arched a brow at her. "Alert?"
"Yes!" Sanya exclaimed, wagging a finger. "Keep your beauty shining! That means proper sleep, eating healthy, and no more looking like a sleep-deprived zombie!"
Rain chuckled again, the weight in her chest lifting slightly. Sanya was right, she’d been neglecting herself while watching over Alexander, barely eating or sleeping. She had just wanted to be there when he woke up.
But now that he was awake, she knew she had to be stronger than ever. Rain gave Sanya a small, grateful smile as she processed her friend’s words. Despite the heartbreak and confusion, she found solace in having someone like Sanya to lean on during these uncertain times.
"You’re right," she said softly, brushing her hair back. "I need to pull myself together, for both Alexander and myself."
"Exactly!" Sanya nodded enthusiastically. "And don’t let this Carla nonsense bother you. The Rain I know doesn’t lose to anyone, especially not to some distant memory of the past."
Rain chuckled lightly at Sanya’s encouragement. "Thank you, Sanya. I mean it. I don’t know how I’d get through this without you."
"Well, lucky for you, you don’t have to find out!" Sanya teased with a grin, her tone light but full of genuine care. "Now, let’s get you some breakfast before you try to sneak off to check on Xander again."
Rain hesitated but eventually nodded. "Fine. I’ll eat. But after that, I’m going to see him."
Sanya sighed, shaking her head but smiling. "Deal. Just don’t overdo it. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. He’ll come around. I know he will."
Rain turned her gaze toward the snow-covered balcony again. The pristine white reminded her of fresh starts, a blank slate. "I hope so," she murmured, more to herself than to Sanya. "For now, I’ll take things one step at a time."
Despite the uncertainty, a glimmer of determination began to grow in her chest. She wasn’t giving up on Alexander, no matter how much his memory might have erased. Rain had built something special with him once, and she would find a way to do it again. This time, stronger than before.
"Now, go and get ready. Meet me downstairs, I cooked all your favorite dishes!" Sanya said with a grin, her voice filled with excitement.
Rain nodded, watching Sanya leave the bedroom. With a sigh, she headed for the bathroom to take a quick shower and changed into her casual clothes. It was Sunday, and she knew the family would likely visit later.
She stepped into the hallway, intending to go downstairs, but her feet unconsciously carried her to the door opposite hers. This had been her room before she started sharing Alexander’s. Her heart thudded as she hesitated, then slowly pushed the door open.
Inside, she saw Alexander sitting on the bed, reading a book. He paused and looked up, his sharp gaze meeting hers.
"I’m sorry," Rain said quickly, offering an awkward smile. "I forgot to knock. I’m so used to just opening doors in our private spaces."
Alexander raised an eyebrow, his expression cool and guarded, the same discerning look he had given her when they first met.
"It’s fine," he said after a moment. "I heard we’re husband and wife, but... it’s still not sinking in. I apologize as well. I’m just not used to having my private space invaded." He sighed, his tone polite but distant.
Rain’s smile softened. "I understand. You just woke up. Take all the time you need to recover."
He nodded, but then his expression turned inquisitive. "How come we don’t have a wedding picture?"
Rain froze, caught off guard by the question. She bit her lip, her thoughts scrambling for the right response. She knew no one had explained everything to Alexander yet, after all, the doctors advised against overwhelming him with too much information so soon after waking up. The memory of him clutching his head in pain upon learning they were married was still fresh in her mind.
