Supreme Heir Son-in-law-Chapter 1130 - 1129: Domineering
This isn’t the first time Xu Ke has seen Lin Yiran in an evening gown, but he couldn’t help swallowing hard.
Linglong’s figure was highlighted perfectly, white against white, adding a purity usually absent.
Arriving at the auction house, Xu Ke finally noticed the stunning glances from Xu Wei’s people, occasionally cast upon himself, a kind of envy he hadn’t seen before.
"Why are you still dazing? Let’s go!" Lin Yiran hooked his arm, shot him a glance, her allure causing his throat to move again.
Lin Yiran was quite satisfied with this jerk’s current reaction. Lately, she’d realized this person was paying less attention to her; seeing him now in awe made her feel a bit relieved.
Yet, she didn’t notice the faint sweetness flooding simultaneously.
"Yiran, you’re here too!" Just a few steps in, someone greeted her from behind.
Shen Mi appeared styled entirely in black, diverging from her usual sweet style, adding a touch of chill and an aura that kept people at arm’s length.
Even so, her long white legs stood more strikingly contrasted, prompting Xu Ke to take another two glances unconsciously.
Feeling the force on his arm, he quickly averted his gaze, turning to see Lin Yiran beside him, with her pursed lips demonstrating anger, his mind whispering thoughts.
"What’s up with this woman? I only looked twice. It’s not the first time anyway. What’s she angry about?"
By then, Shen Mi had walked over, playfully winked at Xu Ke then reverted to her cold demeanor.
However, with her arrival, the looks towards Xu Ke weren’t as friendly anymore; quite a few men seemed like they wanted to devour him.
As the third young lady of the Shen Family in Yanjing, Shen Mi was quite renowned. Many men admired her from afar, yet seeing her cozying up to an ordinary-looking man was naturally unsettling for them.
Xu Ke couldn’t be bothered with them, leading the two women inside, finding the banquet hall already packed.
Everyone was elegantly dressed, chatting about something, and upon Shen Mi’s entrance, she was quickly surrounded.
Though originally directed at Shen Mi, seeing Lin Yiran made some initiate conversation, particularly some young men, showing undisguised predatory gazes.
Xu Ke stepped forward, blocking those men’s view, their brows frowning immediately. Xu Ke ignored them, said something to Shen Mi, and dragged Lin Yiran to the corner.
"What are you going crazy about?"
Lin Yiran pursed her lips, full of dissatisfaction.
What’s this guy up to? In such a public setting, can’t he give her some face?
Xu Ke didn’t say a word, taking off his coat and draping it over her shoulders.
With a flick of her arm to swipe away the coat, Lin Yiran glared at him in frustration, complaining: "This is a rare chance. If our Lin family can just..."
"Shut your mouth!" Xu Ke met her disgruntled eyes, firmly enveloping her with the coat.
He could allow others to admire, but not accept other men’s gaze mixed with desire, for she was his woman, even if just in name.
"I warn you, no more dressing like this in the future!" He demanded sternly, seeing her dissatisfied face.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yiran was startled, her pursed lips biting tighter. Surprisingly, she didn’t retort and after a while, muttered quietly: "Who are you to tell me?"
"I’m your husband!" Xu Ke huffed, sitting heavily into a chair, pulling her to sit beside him.
She struggled a bit but couldn’t free herself, eventually settling down quietly, though her gaze towards him remained resentful. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
This commotion instantly attracted attention from around, with some men audibly scoffing, thoroughly disdaining Xu Ke.
Feeling the spotlight on her, she lowered her head further, clearly meant to be upset and embarrassed, yet strangely, she didn’t resent this feeling.
Only after some time did Shen Mi come back, followed by the men eagerly sitting across.
Shen Mi frowned but said nothing further, whispering to Xu Ke: "Is your reaction really necessary? Watch your manners!"
"Do you know these guys?" Xu Ke glared across at the group of youths, eyes flashing coldly.
"Calm down!" Shen Mi was startled by his glare, "It’s just looking, won’t lose any flesh, isn’t she fine?"
Hearing this, Xu Ke narrowed his eyes, glancing at her face: "Such thoughts shouldn’t exist from the beginning! If not thinking with their brains, then they don’t need them!"
"You..." Shen Mi wanted to say something but glanced at Lin Yiran, eventually silent, massaging her forehead, only speaking after a while, "I really can’t tell if you’re blessing or misfortune for Yiran! Why are you so domineering?"
"Born this way!" Xu Ke was unapologetic.
Lin Yiran pinched Shen Mi, retorting: "What nonsense are you talking about? Who is with him?"
"He’s with you at least!" Shen Mi chuckled, pinching Lin Yiran’s somewhat puffed cheek.
After jesting around, Lin Yiran was somewhat distracted.
Not long after, the lights dimmed, and a spotlight shone onto a stage outside the venue, a woman swayed up.
The crowd dispersed at this signal, taking their seats, while the men still had the audacity to come closer.
But Xu Ke ignored them entirely, treating them like air, not even giving a glance.
Post the woman’s introduction, a display cabinet was brought on stage, the curtain pulled, revealing an exquisite porcelain vase.
As the base price was called out, bids continuously followed, surpassing double its initial price swiftly.
Shen Mi seemed interested, but for Lin Yiran, this price was quite overwhelming; she squeezed the bid plate but ultimately put it down, treating it as entertainment.
Xu Ke didn’t even flinch, gripping a pair of chopsticks, fervently demolishing the meal before him like he hadn’t eaten in ages.
"Eating like a starving ghost, mind you don’t burst!"
"Why bother with such a person, it just lowers our status!"
"This guy clearly hasn’t seen high society, probably his first time at such an upscale gathering."
Previously snubbed by Xu Ke, the men across sneered, unabashedly mocking, elevating their own standing.
Hearing this, Shen Mi frowned but chose to remain silent, realizing such reactions only fueled their antics.
