Supreme Heir Son-in-law-Chapter 1126 - 1125: Gift-Giving
Standing to the side, Lin Yiran felt a bit dazed. These two aggressive guys actually bowed their heads to Xu Ke, making it all seem so unreal to her.
Xu Ke ignored the two resentful guys and glanced at the old man, saying, "Old sir, what’s this about? I’m just a nobody, just a driver tagging along this time. I can’t accept these two apologies!"
The gesture was received, but saying such things afterward just made the treasure appraiser and the middle-aged man want to strangle Xu Ke.
Glancing at Lin Yiran, who was still a bit stunned, the old man of the Chu Family understood something and immediately had the two of them bow to Lin Yiran as well.
Being repeatedly humiliated, their faces turned shades of blue and white, yet they couldn’t defy the old man’s authority.
Lin Yiran hurriedly waved her hand, but didn’t dodge. Having suffered such grievance that day, how could she not have any anger inside?
Even though she hadn’t figured out what exactly was going on, seeing these two bastards bow in front of her made her feel quite pleased.
Noticing the hint of satisfaction in her eyes, Xu Ke couldn’t help but slightly curl his lips, and said nonchalantly while crossing one leg.
"Ah, they say antiques, antiques... In this life, I’ve never seen such things! Finally getting to see it, I almost got myself in trouble. I really don’t know what’s good about it!"
"Mr. Xu, if you like, I have a couple of old paintings. Consider them a gift to you and your wife!"
"A gentleman does not covet another’s treasure. I appreciate your kind offer, sir, but I’m a simple person. Having a couple of items to touch upon might not be bad. After all, there’s an expert here we can consult with later..."
"Haha, I was being presumptuous. If Mr. Xu is not interested in paintings, you could check out the antique market. This old fellow might lack other skills but has a keen eye. If you’re interested, you can let him take a look! Put it on my tab!" the old man said, casting a glance at the treasure appraiser.
If he couldn’t figure out the old man’s intention by now, then his years were lived in vain.
He immediately promised to give away two items, his mouth twitching, wearing a pained expression, but everyone pretended not to see it.
At this point, Xu Ke didn’t hold back. With the conversation so far, Xu Ke finally felt somewhat appeased.
The old man of the Chu Family was a wise man. He knew Xu Ke had taken advantage of the treasure appraiser and wouldn’t spare the Chu Family, so before Xu Ke could speak, he first proposed signing a contract with the Lin family, with details to be discussed later.
Xu Ke’s eyelids twitched twice, realizing the old fox had seen through his intentions. However, seeing Lin Yiran’s excited expression, he didn’t have the heart to refuse.
Having collected the owed debts, Xu Ke revealed the location pointed out by the keys. He had checked it before returning and confirmed the items were indeed there.
The old man immediately sent someone to retrieve them and received a call within half an hour. The group didn’t linger and bade farewell.
It wasn’t until everyone left that Lin Yiran collected her thoughts, looking at Xu Ke, she asked, "What exactly did you do? How did the old man suddenly..."
"Does it matter what I did? The important thing is that this matter is settled, and you got a contract out of it." Xu Ke said with a slight smile, his lips curving upwards.
"I’m getting more and more confused about who you are. Are you still Xu Ke?"
"That’s hardly fair. If you want to kick me to the curb, at least find a better reason, okay?"
Xu Ke casually retorted. Hearing this, Lin Yiran’s expression froze, and she lowered her head without speaking.
The sudden silence made Xu Ke uncomfortable, so he turned his head to look at her, frowning, "Did I say something wrong?"
"I’m a bit tired. I’m going to rest now!" Leaving those words, Lin Yiran didn’t look at Xu Ke again. She stomped her way back to her bedroom and shut the door behind her.
Xu Ke was left baffled, standing there for a while before snapping back to his senses, muttering, "Who said you get the bedroom! Hey, let’s discuss this!"
No matter how much he shouted, the person in the bedroom totally ignored him.
After washing up, he found his way to the sofa. Having been busy all night, he was somewhat fatigued, yet recalling the old man’s attitude just kept him awake.
For someone like the old man in such a high position to negotiate so calmly and even let him take advantage of the situation seemed thin if attributed merely to his patience.
"It seems this old man must know something?" Xu Ke thought quietly before unknowingly falling asleep.
He didn’t know when a crisp sound suddenly reached his ears. As he groggily opened his eyes, he found the daylight outside already bright.
Scanning his gaze around the room, he just noticed the sneaking figure.
"Did she eat something wrong? Why is she sneaking around like a thief?" With that thought, Xu Ke decided to stay still. Not long after, the figure approached and removed the blanket covering him, then returned to the bedroom.
Soon after coming back out, she tugged his arm, finally rousing him from sleep.
"Ah..." Xu Ke rubbed his arm, glaring at this woman, and said irritably, "What do you want?"
"Haven’t you slept enough for a whole night? Get up now! Someone’s inviting us to breakfast today. If we’re late, you’ll just have to starve!"
"Who? Old Man Chu? Everything’s settled, so why invite us to breakfast? Is it a trap?" Xu Ke was startled to hear this. He couldn’t believe it and thought it might be a trap.
"Why are you thinking so much into it? I think Old Man Chu is quite nice! But it’s not him inviting us today. It’s someone you know. You’ll find out when you get there!"
While she spoke, she pulled him off the sofa. Xu Ke was reluctant, but couldn’t leave her to go out alone, so he begrudgingly got up.
After freshening up and stepping out, he saw a red Ferrari parked at the door. A woman with sunglasses and long legs stood leaning on the car—a sight that caught any man’s attention.
As the two of them came out, the woman took off the sunglasses and waved at them.
However, Xu Ke frowned involuntarily. Honestly, he didn’t want to see this woman, at least not in the short term.
In Yanjing, at a high-end restaurant, Xu Ke didn’t even bother to check the name of the place, given who was there.
