Supreme Heir Son-in-law-Chapter 1068 - 1067: The Factory’s Secret
The Xu Mansion grew more and more distant, continuously receding until even the slightest shadow was no longer visible.
Tangtang clutched Guoguo’s arm: "Who on earth is that woman in the old factory? It seems like a lot of people don’t really know her!"
"I’m not quite sure either," Guoguo’s eyes were filled with confusion, and she said, "It’s in a factory belonging to the Su Group, so I suspect it might have something to do with Suzhou?"
"No way, Guoguo." Tangtang immediately defended upon hearing ’Suzhou’: "Maybe it’s just a coincidence. If it really has something to do with Suzhou, then wouldn’t Xu Ke be involved too?"
Tangtang’s eyes were filled with worry: "We just came from the Xu Family."
Guoguo’s eyes were full of determination as she placed her hand over Tangtang’s arm: "Aren’t we here to investigate this matter?"
"Yet, I’m still so scared, always feeling like everyone around has heavy thoughts. How are we supposed to get along in the future?" Tangtang’s big eyes were filled with tears, the sunlight glancing off them in a myriad of glows.
Guoguo paused for a moment and said: "Yeah, I feel the same way." She wasn’t sure how she appeared in Tangtang’s heart, whether Tangtang might also find her frightening, but when she heard Tangtang’s next words, she was moved to tears.
"Don’t worry, Guoguo, I will definitely protect you!"
Such is how friendships are formed, especially the bonds between girls, where genuine feelings often manifest in subtle moments.
While the two were talking, they hadn’t noticed that someone was following them.
The person made sure to keep a certain distance, not advancing too quickly or lagging too far behind, perfectly positioned so that they could see the two girls but remain unseen.
The hustle and bustle faded away, and the surrounding buildings gradually disappeared until they were gone.
Tangtang and Guoguo moved cautiously through the vegetation, so much so that even small, quick-moving animals in the bushes startled them, as if they were surrounded by enemies.
But they were already here, and the factory wasn’t far away, leaving them no reason to turn back. Moreover, women’s curiosity is notoriously strong, potent enough to ’kill the cat.’
Guoguo glanced at Tangtang and considered: "Maybe you should wait here, and I’ll go check it out first, then come back for you so we can leave together, okay?"
Tangtang hugged Guoguo more tightly with a swish, tears brimming in her eyes as she shook her head repeatedly: "It’s even scarier here without Guoguo."
She glanced surreptitiously at Guoguo: "Besides, I wouldn’t feel safe if you went in alone. Since we’ve both come this far together, we should continue together!"
"Alright, that’s fine too." After a brief thought, Guoguo nodded, realizing that worrying about each other would only distract them, and separating would indeed be troublesome, "Let’s just be careful."
The factory door was half-open, creaking at the slightest touch. Even without touching, the wind carried various eerie noises from within the factory.
The sound of the door made Tangtang flinch internally, she looked around the visible area: rusty pipes, broken walls, and countless dust and cobwebs.
"Is this really a place where people work?" Tangtang whispered to Guoguo, afraid of being discovered.
Guoguo took a glance around and whispered back: "Perhaps it’s been abandoned for a long time!"
The wind howled through holes in the walls, sounding like ghostly wails. Tangtang shivered, clinging to Guoguo, her voice quivering with tears: "Then why is there still a woman here? Aside from being filthy and worn out, there’s nothing special about this place."
"Hmm." Guoguo hugged Tangtang, comforting her with a hand on her back to show support and draw strength: "Alright, we need to quickly find something useful, who knows if anyone might show up at this factory!"
"Got it," Tangtang said as she peeked out, pointing to the left: "I’ll check this side, and you search over there. It’ll be faster that way! I can’t stand being here for even half a minute longer."
"Me neither," Guoguo, indeed scared too, had not expected this grim scene when they first arrived. She tried to steady her shaking body: "Let’s hurry and try to leave sooner!"
With targets in mind, they found motivation, the two girls overcoming their fear and the harsh conditions as they scoured the old factory for possible clues they needed.
However, the Su Group’s old factory was massive, larger than they had imagined.
"I’m so tired, Guoguo, I’m thirsty and a bit hungry." Tangtang couldn’t help but complain. By now, she had overcome the initial fear; instead, her entire body ached.
Guoguo frowned: "I’m tired too, we’ve been searching for so long and found nothing, did we search the wrong place?"
"No way, everyone thinks that woman is from within this rundown factory."
"Hmm, maybe we missed some crucial spot!" Guoguo felt dizzy and lightheaded, realizing such strenuous activity was not suitable for them: "How about we call it a day, and grab something to eat first."
Originally intending to sit and rest for a while, Tangtang immediately perked up upon hearing this: "That sounds good, after all, we can always come back to this place!"
"Wait!" Guoguo held her breath, inching towards the wall, and pressing her ear against it: "There’s a sound."
"What sound?" Tangtang approached, her demeanor growing more unusual the closer she got to Guoguo: "It does seem like it, a car?"
Guoguo quickly took Tangtang to hide, as it wasn’t just the sound of a car stopping but also clear footsteps, the door being violently pushed open with creaks.
Fear reengulfed the two girls. Guoguo placed a finger over her lips, signaling them to remain completely silent. Tangtang looked at Guoguo in fear, eyes filled with questions, but she nodded to show she understood.
Guoguo peeked out; she didn’t want to, but knowing the enemy is knowing yourself, hence one lives a hundred battles unscathed.
She saw that group, all tall and well-built, led by one whose face bore a scar running from top to bottom, impossible for Guoguo to miss.
"Damn!" She quickly retracted her little head, thinking in her heart: "We’ve been discovered!"
The footsteps grew closer and closer; Guoguo felt her own heartbeat was so loud that it could be heard through the whole factory. She glanced at the equally terrified Tangtang, thinking: "If worse comes to worst, she’d go out herself and definitely not implicate Tangtang!"
"Boss! Look over here!" Someone at the door called to Scar Face.
Scar Face glanced sharply in Guoguo and Tangtang’s direction, then turned back to his companions.
"Whew." Guoguo sighed lightly, just lightly, she was truly scared to death a moment ago.
Yet, a new problem arose: why were there so many people on the other side, and what were they here for? How would Guoguo and Tangtang get out?
Guoguo lightly frowned: "We need to think of a plan quickly, or we really won’t be able to leave today."
One of the burly people said: "Boss, it seems someone is here." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
"Who could it be?" Tangtang whispered in Guoguo’s ear, her voice trembling with fear.
