Chapter 1048: Chapter 1047: Both True and False

Su’s mother was stunned; she knew she had caused trouble and didn’t dare to say anything for a moment. Su’s mother vaguely heard that Xu Ke had found a factory in Australia, and she really didn’t know what to do.

Almost everyone in Jiang City knew that in this prosperous and wealthy but cold and unfeeling city, only the Huyan Group was the real Boss. Now Su’s mother had stirred up a big mess, and even their family business suffered greatly. She truly lifted a rock only to drop it on her own foot.

However, when Su’s mother thought about it, the matter shouldn’t be left unresolved like this. After all, it started because of her, and it was her momentary lapse that led to the disaster. Maybe it takes the person who tied the knot to untie it; maybe there’s still room for maneuver; maybe things aren’t as bad as everyone imagines?

Maybe...

Just at the thought of this, Su’s mother felt that regardless of the outcome, she should at least give it a try. After all, since she caused the trouble, if she can’t make amends, the result couldn’t be any worse. But if she succeeds, if someone can help her, help the Su Family get through this crisis, maybe she could redeem herself.

And so, with this thought, Su’s mother started fearlessly walking toward Huyan’s old man’s villa.

However, just as she reached the door, she heard a crisp laugh: "Haha... Guoguo, look, the little dragonfly is so pretty. Shall we go play with it?"

A little girl standing nearby said timidly, "Okay, but Tangtang, do you think it might bite us? I’m a little afraid of it."

The bolder girl laughed more brightly. She grabbed Guoguo’s small hand and said with a grin, "Oh, no worries. Grandpa said dragonflies don’t bite because they like to eat dew."

With that, the shy little girl began to smile happily, "Okay, Tangtang, let’s go catch dragonflies together. We’ll catch them and then let them go, okay? Otherwise, they would be stuck at home with no one to care for them. That’s so sad..."

Tangtang thought for a moment, her little head nodding in agreement, "Okay, Guoguo, let’s do as you said."

So, the twin little girls held hands and walked to the roadside outside Huyan’s villa. There, a wounded little dragonfly rested quietly on a rose, looking fragile and sad.

As Tangtang and Guoguo approached hand in hand, the dragonfly with a slightly injured wing disappeared. Tangtang said curiously, "Hey? Guoguo, did you see the dragonfly just now? Why is it gone?"

Guoguo patted Tangtang’s shoulder with her chubby little hand and cautiously comforted her, "It’s okay, Tangtang; maybe it just got scared and hid from us. Don’t be sad, okay? It’ll surely come back later."

Tangtang pouted, feeling particularly upset, and whispered, "No, no, why does it hide? I’m so cute, why does it hide from me? Doesn’t it want to be friends with us? But I still really like it."

With a worried expression, Guoguo looked up. The midday sun was hot and harsh. Guoguo had no clue where they had walked to, and suddenly she couldn’t find the way back.

Guoguo said anxiously to Tangtang, "Tangtang, it’s so hot... And we seem lost, let’s hurry back; Grandpa’s still waiting for us to go play in the park. Maybe there’ll be flower beds and dragonflies in the park?"

Tangtang listened and nodded with a smile, finally no longer sad, and said, "Guoguo, did you say we’re lost? I see an old lady over there watching us; shall I go ask her for directions?"

Before Guoguo could speak, Tangtang pulled her over. Tangtang said with a grin, "Grandma, we’re lost and can’t find home. Can you tell us how to get to Huyan’s villa from here?"

Su’s mother snapped back to reality, thinking she had been observing these two children for a while. She’d heard Huyan’s old man’s granddaughters were twins, about five or six years old. Seeing them come out of Huyan’s villa and mentioning their grandpa seemed like they were the ones.

Su’s mother was initially on her way to find Huyan’s old man, but now she’d run into his twin granddaughters. Seeing their sincere trustful eyes, she changed her mind.

Su’s mother felt this must be her chance from heaven and decided to cherish it well.

Su’s mother smiled, trying to be gentle and loving, "Of course, I know. It’s just that you might have run too far, and I’m afraid you might get lost on the way. So perhaps... Grandma should take you back, okay?"

Tangtang replied cheerfully, "Sure, sure, thank you, Grandma."

Guoguo glanced at the kind-looking old lady, feeling a bit strange and uneasy, and whispered to Tangtang, "Hey, I told you, Tangtang, didn’t Grandpa say not to go with strangers and not to trust them? You don’t know Grandma; we’re lost and just need directions. Why follow her?"

Tangtang whispered mysteriously, "Really? But I think Grandma is nice; I’m sure she won’t deceive us! She’s so gentle, just like Mom!"

Probably at this moment, Tangtang would never know what Guoguo was thinking.

Guoguo wanted to say more to argue, but Su’s mother spoke warmly again, "Oh, nowadays kids are really alert, but no worries... Grandma lives nearby, and in fact, I’m your neighbor! Plus, I don’t think I’m a stranger anymore? I even know your names." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Guoguo asked seriously, "Really? Then tell us our names."

Su’s mother smiled confidently, "I know... You’re Guoguo, and she’s Tangtang. And Grandma saw you looking for dragonflies, right? Grandma’s house has such a garden too, with lots of dragonflies. When you get home, you’re welcome to come and play at Grandma’s place. Grandma loves children the most."

Upon hearing "dragonfly," Tangtang and Guoguo’s eyes brightened, and the two children agreed readily to go home with Grandma.

However, Huyan’s old man was searching everywhere for Tangtang and Guoguo, having no idea that Su’s mother had confined them.
