Supreme Devil Lord: I Can Refine All Energy-Chapter 64: I Pity You
While Rosalie flinched at his sudden outburst, not understanding why he got angry at her, Eric sighed in his heart.
When he had gone to complain about Luke at his home, Liam was with him, so it wasn’t difficult for him to recognize her, and since she was the mother of the person directly responsible for the tragedy in his home, he immediately lost his cool.
"Liam, calm down. I brought her here..." He placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down and then slowly told him her situation. He only hid the fact that he had become sexually involved with her and changed the way he met her.
After hearing his explanation, Liam clenched his fists and angrily spat, cursing Luke, "How disgusting and utterly vile he was! I wish I could kill him."
He then glanced at Rosalie, opened his mouth to say something before shaking his head and turning around, "Come in, Eric."
"You wait here for a while." Eric told Rosalie, handed her bag over to her, and followed Eric inside.
...
Leah and Elsa were sitting in the living room, and while their faces were clean, having no sign of tears, their eyes were red and moist, especially Elsa’s, who was holding her mother’s hand in hers supportingly.
When Eric entered, they raised their heads to look at him. Elsa hurriedly tried to hide her face, not willing to show him her weak side while Leah looked at him with a complicated look in her eyes, which resembled Liam’s when he saw him earlier, and asked,
"Eric, son... Are you sure you can take us to the middle city without feeling burdened? I... We have almost no credits with us. So, you would have to—"
Before she could finish speaking, Eric walked over to her, sat on his knees in front of her, took her hand in his, and while looking into her eyes, he said, "Aunt, no, mother-in-law, there is no need to worry about anything. I and Liam will take care of everything. Also..." 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Saying this, he lowered his head and added in an apologetic and guilty tone, "If you can, please find it in your heart to forgive me for bringing this calamity to your family."
Leah didn’t say anything for a few seconds and just stared at him, various emotions flashing in her eyes. Beside her, Elsa silently shed tears upon hearing his heartfelt apology before looking at her mother, waiting to see how she would react.
Though she wanted her to forgive him not only because he was the love of her life, but also because he didn’t mean for it to happen to her family, she didn’t affect her mother’s decision, so she kept silent. Standing behind Eric, Liam sighed and looked at his mother without saying anything.
A short while later, Leah glanced at Liam, her eyes now moist, and then at Elsa before looking at Eric and sighing, "I know it wasn’t something you could control or wished to happen to us. So, I don’t blame you even though I felt a little complicated in my heart. But after hearing you killed those two, I don’t feel that either."
She then gently caressed his head and said, "So, there is no need for you to blame yourself and ask for forgiveness."
Eric raised his head. Both she and Elsa had tears and sadness in their eyes, but there was no hint of blame, which made him feel... complicated.
Why had they forgiven him so easily? He would have preferred if they had blamed him or slapped him to vent their emotions first. Still, this was also good. Inwardly vowing to take care of them, he stood up and started helping Liam and Elsa pack their things.
...
Outside the house, Rosalie was waiting with a confused look on her face. She couldn’t understand why Eric’s friend reacted so strongly toward her. The look he had at that moment was one of extreme hate and malice.
’His father died? Is it related to Luke and that warrior?’ She thought, recalling Eric’s conversation with Liam she had faintly heard from the distance. Her guess made her anxious. She didn’t want anyone to target her, especially Eric’s—her lord’s—friend.
’Fortunately, he doesn’t seem an unreasonable sort of guy, so he shouldn’t target me.’ She thought before remembering Luke, the reason for everything, and couldn’t help but gnash her teeth in anger.
After she cursed Luke enough in her heart, her thoughts drifted to another topic, which she had been trying her best not to think about because it would only bring her pain—her daughter.
’Is she suffering right now? She hadn’t—’
Right then, she noticed Eric walk out and snapped out of her thoughts before quickly hiding her sad expression. Then she watched as his friend, a young lady and a woman of her age, but more beautiful than her, walked out behind him, carrying handbags.
’He is really taking them along too.’ She was not surprised by this because she had heard him talk about it with Liam earlier, but her eyes flickered in thought. Right then, she saw the woman look at her with narrowed eyes, and she stiffened. ’Don’t tell me...’
"So you are that bastard’s mother...?" She heard Leah, and her heart fell, but gritting her teeth, she bowed by the waist and said, "Unfortunately, yes. I never expected him to turn out this way and cause so much harm. I’m really very sorry."
"What use is your sorry for us? Can it bring their father back?" Leah coldly said, her body trembling.
Rosalie didn’t say anything and continued bowing toward her. Eric didn’t say anything and watched as the trio glared at her.
A moment later, Leah stepped toward her. He thought she was going to slap her, but to his surprise, she helped her up and said, "Stand up. Although I resent you for no reason other than that you are his mother, I also pity you because I heard what that bastard did to your daughter and what he planned to do to you."
