Supreme Devil Lord: I Can Refine All Energy-Chapter 46: Eric’s Offer
"I’m not sure if you’ll like what I’m about to say, but if you want and agree to help me, I may be able to get rid of Paul." As he said this, Vivian’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
"You... Do you know what you just said?" She asked, her expression darkening.
Eric became nervous inside, but his face was expressionless as he nodded, "Yes. I offered you help."
Vivian stared into his eyes without saying anything for a while before she sighed and slumped back into the chair.
"I can understand why you would want to kill him. If he was planning to do what he plans to do with your family to my family, I would have wanted to kill him too. So, I won’t be angry at you for this." Vivian said before shaking her head and continuing in an angry tone, "However, he is my husband, the father of my children. You shouldn’t have—"
Before she could finish her sentence, however, Eric interrupted her, "You are worried what will happen to your children and you if I can indeed do what I said, aren’t you?"
Even without using {Inspect} on her, he could tell she wouldn’t believe him, a weak looking guy from the slums, if he proclaimed he could kill Paul, a grade three Novice Warrior. Hell, no one would believe him. He could also tell, even if he was somehow able to make her believe him, she wouldn’t agree because no matter how badly Paul was treating them, he was still providing for them. With him out of the picture, her family’s condition would become the same as his family, which she would never want.
However, if she didn’t have to worry about their survival, he felt she would most likely agree; therefore, he stood up while saying, "Let me show you something."
Vivian raised her brows and watched in confusion as he grabbed the wooden table between them with one hand and effortlessly picked it up.
"It should weigh at least twenty kilograms, right?" He asked,
Vivian had a shocked look on her face as she watched him wave the table in the air as though it was weightless, and instead of answering him, she looked him up and down in wonderment before asking, "You... have become a warrior?"
Eric was a little surprised to hear this because, as he said, the table only weighed around twenty kilograms, and a strong person could easily do the same as he did. Hence, it wasn’t proof enough of him being a warrior, but she directly asked him if he had become a warrior.
But then he smiled bitterly. ’It must be because I look too weak to do this without being a warrior.’
"Yes. I’m a grade one Novice Warrior, and I’m confident I can become a grade two or even grade three within a few days if I have enough resources." Eric told her, his tone confident.
Vivian was already shocked by the fact that he had become a warrior when he didn’t even have enough resources to live comfortably, but when she heard his bold yet confident claim, she became even more shocked.
"How... can I believe you?" She asked, wanting to know what gave him the confidence.
Eric went silent for a moment. He then sighed inwardly and ordered the system to use the {Inspect} on her.
[Name: Vivian Lark]
[Age: 36]
[Cultivation: Novice Realm (Grade One)]
[Status: Sad, hopeful, shocked, curious.]
[Detailed description: She is...]
He just wanted to see if her status showed greed or something similar, because if it did, he would have to choose his words carefully, but got surprised when he saw she was also a grade one Novice Cultivator like himself.
Quickly suppressing his surprise, so she wouldn’t notice anything abnormal, he glanced at her status and sighed in relief when he saw she didn’t have greed in her heart and was just shocked and curious.
He then said, "Let’s just say I got lucky and got an Adept rank cultivator’s inheritance."
"Oh?!" Vivian was shocked, but realized if what he said was indeed true, he might really be able to become as strong as Paul in a short time.
What she didn’t know was that even an Adept rank cultivator’s inheritance, unless it was of a peak Adept cultivator and the person in question had a high cultivation talent, couldn’t allow a grade one Novice Cultivator to become a grade three Novice Cultivator in a few days. Eric also didn’t know this, and would only find out about it later and would feel he was fortunate that he gave that excuse to Vivian, who similarly didn’t know this, instead of someone knowledgeable.
Eric was silent for a few seconds to let her digest the information, after which he said in a deep voice, looking into her eyes, "If you can help me gather enough resources to cultivate, I promise to take care of your family in the future."
"This..." Vivian was still hesitant. Although neither she nor her children liked Paul, he was still her husband and their father.
Eric placed the table down, sat back into the chair, and waited for her decision.
Vivian was silent for at least ten minutes, and all this while her expressions kept flickering. Then, finally, she exhaled deeply, her expression becoming determined as she clenched her fists and said, "He only gives me enough credits for the household expenses, but I have still managed to save up a bit over five thousand credits. Will... that be enough?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Eric was surprised. Until now, his and Elena’s savings together had never reached a thousand credits, but she had saved up five thousand credits and this was when Paul wasn’t giving her any extra. This made him wonder how much Paul earned.
"I’m not sure." Eric honestly admitted before asking, "How much spirit stone powder do you have at home?"
"Half a kilogram." Vivian said before adding, "You plan to use the white powder? Wouldn’t cultivating with it be too inefficient and take too much time?"
Eric’s eyes shone with excitement when he heard there was half a kilogram of spirit stone powder at home, and he hurriedly said, "You don’t need to worry about all that. Just give it all to me. As for the credits, I’ll take them from you in the morning."
