Superhumans of the Dome City-Chapter 1317 - 143: Boy Meets Girl_2
She remembered those lovely young ladies, the fervent kisses of youth, and the words he wanted to express that night in the bathroom.
"Don’t act like a little girl." Alandia said to herself. She wasn’t a girl anymore, just like Ce wasn’t a youth anymore. They both had so many things to consider, responsibilities, current circumstances, age, and their present lives. Four years could change a lot of things, could make a fragile child strong, and could help a solitary teenager find love.
Now, finally, everything was over, and she could resolve to handle her emotional issues well. After work, she planned to ask Ce out to a café, to tell him her plans as normally as possible. He would definitely be angry, but he would eventually understand...
Would going to a café together seem like a date?
This sudden thought disrupted all of Alandia’s arrangements. No. She quickly decided, not to give Ce any unnecessary expectations, changing the venue to the study at home, where two adults could have a rational and calm conversation.
But the last time in the study, she had proactively suggested they share a bed.
Alandia tapped her forehead with her knuckles, feeling an indescribable sense of defeat. It wouldn’t work; she knew Ce too well. Any occasion where they were alone together would lead him to have expectations. Her usually flexible and clear thinking felt like it was in a deadlock at this moment. She closed her eyes to ponder, sighed deeply in frustration.
At this moment, a loud horn sounded downstairs, standing out like a gunshot amidst the noise of clashing armor. Alandia pulled open the curtains; a sky-blue sedan was parked right at the entrance of the Knight Order. The driver, dressed in a black suit and gold-rimmed glasses, held a whole bouquet of freshly picked roses, leaning against the car door, his voice full of energy as he called.
"Hey, Knight Alandia!" Gongsun Ce displayed his pocket watch; it was precisely 5:30, "I’ve come to pick you up from work!"
Almost all the windows of the headquarters building were opened, knights staring in surprise or curiosity at the gray-haired young man and his roses, discussing his identity, his legend, and the incredible feats he had accomplished. Alandia’s face flushed red on one side all at once; she hurriedly tidied up her office, put on a deerstalker hat, and rushed downstairs. In the corridor, she encountered two female knights but was in such a hurry she didn’t even have time to greet them.
Knight Akuya glanced at her, seeing the residual blush on her face with amazement: "By the Holy King, is that Knight Alandia? What’s made her so... ladylike today?"
Orianna smiled cheerfully: "Knight Alandia has always been a beautiful lady!"
Alandia felt she received a ceremonial send-off as she left, grander even than the day she thoroughly investigated the capital. When she reached the Sky Clear, Gongsun Ce had already opened the car door, his movements elegant and impeccable, not a single flaw. "Ce..." she couldn’t help but moan.
"No need to be formal, it’s my duty as your attendant." Gongsun Ce spoke naturally, "By the way, let me remind you—even though I don’t care—the longer we chat here, the more material the knights will have for gossip."
Alandia had never felt so helpless; she hurried into the car, and Gongsun Ce gently closed the door for her, driving off in the Sky Clear while humming a tune. He handed the roses to her: "Dear lady, a gift for you!"
Alandia did not take the flowers: "You should know the language of roses."
"Well, even kids by the roadside might know it." Gongsun Ce raised his eyebrows, "However, today I’m giving you these flowers purely as a gift, so take them! If you don’t like them, I’ll just toss them away."
Alandia knew he would do exactly that, so she sighed and accepted the flowers. Gongsun Ce spoke loudly of his plans, claiming that since he rarely visited the capital, he intended to take a big tour of the city and then enjoy the scenery outside the city that he had never seen before. At this point, Alandia became less anxious; she treated it as a continuation of their joint travels, fulfilling the little expectation of her attendant.
Now it was the peak hour after work, and the sky above the capital was tinged with faint twilight. Gongsun Ce’s route planning was so perfect it was like he had been driving in Supibia for ten years; they often slipped into alleys away from congestion and moments later ended up on roads with the best scenery. The sports car sped quickly but precisely remained within the speed limit. A refreshing breeze swept through from the convertible top, filling the car with the scent of roses and dew. Their hair fluttered in the wind, gray and silver turning a light golden hue due to the twilight.
"How wonderful, Alandia." Gongsun Ce laughed aloud, "Just like a movie!"
It really was like a movie, a rebellious bad boy secretly driving a sports car, whisking away a classically elegant young lady for fun and leisure. Only in movies, the male lead tends to be older than the girl, whereas now the age roles were reversed. Alandia couldn’t help but shake her head: "You naughty boy."
"Thanks for the compliment, Miss Knight!" Gongsun Ce smirked with a mischievous glance, "Want to eat something?"
Alandia immediately became alert: "No high-end restaurants, no candlelit dinners—"
"Then let’s grab some sandwiches to eat on the road." Gongsun Ce said.
They used to often do this when working on cases, hurrying to crime scenes by grabbing something casual to eat. At the time, Gongsun Ce would loudly complain, asking if she had mistaken that he came to the capital for a vacation only to have three meals consisting of either sandwiches or fish and chips every day—yet, after complaining, he would always eat them dutifully... With this in mind, Alandia felt a bit guilty: "A proper meal is okay."
