Superhumans of the Dome City-Chapter 1312 - 142: Pilgrimage’s End
One day later, Linghong State, Rainbow Net City.
The Rainbow Net Path returned to the skies, and the city under the night sky flickered with the glow of family reunions. Xu Ying sat atop a high television tower, singing an ancient song. Today, the Rainbow Winged Lord wore a sky-blue double-breasted suit, and he stood behind Xu Ying, his words full of emotion.
"Often I feel like I can’t keep up with the times. A few months ago, I was still marveling at the Divine Communication Mages being able to fight against the Creation Realm, and now I’m shocked that the Manifestation Mages can wield power."
"You have to get used to it, little Hadrian!" Xu Ying chuckled, "I once thought I’d have to wait a long time to see my kind, but in just a few experiments, fate appeared. Little ones always surpass your expectations, and before long, they will become stronger and better than you."
"The elders also occasionally surprise me." The Rainbow Winged Lord half-complained, "You said we’d keep the secret between us, but you ended up letting everyone know."
"The purpose of knowledge is to share!" Xu Ying snapped her fingers, making the rainbow in the night sky tie into a long snake.
The Rainbow Winged Lord looked at the oldest king with the affection of a grandfather gazing at his granddaughter. The Heavenly Return Mages were right; aging is more connected to mindset than age. The hundred-year-old Hadrian was very old, yet the King Infinite, who might have lived through countless eras, was still a child.
"Anyway, thank you, my long-standing confusion is finally resolved," the Rainbow Winged Lord said. "The power born from exploration, breaking limits for eternity... how romantic. After hearing this story, I feel fortunate to be a Strange phase Mage."
"But you’re not like me, little Hadrian." Xu Ying glanced at him sideways, "You don’t have a desire to break limits, why is that?"
The Rainbow Winged Lord crossed his hands on his knees, a picture of kindly benevolence like every long-lived elder.
"For us, born with short lives, limits are never lofty and unreachable; they are time you can reach out and touch. In my youth, I was fearless, in middle-age, filled with hatred and worry, but in old age, curiosity prevails. Since I turned eighty, I often speculate on what death feels like.
I want to know the secrets of the world, but I also want to know the taste of death - this is the paradox, the dilemma that belongs to us."
"Hmm~~ you truly are different beings. In our time, no one wants to die."
"How about the Silent King?" the Rainbow Winged Lord asked.
"Hmm..."
Xu Ying folded her arms, pondering with her head tilted and then laughed: "Yes, it’s because of her influence! This era isolates everyone’s reason, yet contains the reason of everyone!"
She leapt up from the ground and flew into the rainbow-haloed night sky. This temporary body had also reached its limit, and the King Infinite was leaving this small mortal world. She departed as joyful as she had arrived, with no regrets or nostalgia. To her, existing in the Real World or at the journey’s end held no fundamental difference; she would always keep watch through eternal time, expectantly and curiously awaiting the birth of new things.
Hadrian fished a bottle of red wine out of the rainbow light, pouring himself a full glass. A majestic and grand chorus resounded in the air, it was the opera "The Return of Glory," praising an angel’s ascension. He sang along softly, lifting his glass to bid farewell to the rainbow hidden in the night sky.
Finishing his wine, Hadrian smacked his lips and reached into his jacket.
In his palm was an alarming red, blood soaking the lining under his suit, dripping down drop by drop. A near body-splitting slash marked the center of his aged body under the clothes. Colorful rainbow light gathered around the wound, trying to heal it, but the progress was negligible. It seemed as though some force had firmly fixed the wound, rendering it undeniable like "reality" itself.
"What a revelation." The elderly man mused.
He leisurely floated down from the television tower. A black-clad, red-haired, vigorous man awaited on the ground, with Qin Ming standing by, gazing into the distance. Hadrian raised his long eyebrows, smiling as he asked: "How did you manage to have a Creation Realm peak accompany you?"
"He happened to be on my way." The Hidden Law Master spoke bluntly, "Are you heading to the Empire?"
Hadrian stroked his long beard: "If I don’t go to the Empire, how can I learn the world’s secrets?"
"I need to return to the Empire, to do what I’m supposed to do." The Hidden Law Master extended his hand, "Shall we go together?"
Hadrian considered for a moment and replied leisurely: "Why not? Having company makes the journey less lonely!"
Qin Ming looked toward his hometown and tapped the hilt of his knife repeatedly.
"It’s been so long since I’ve been home!" he said joyfully.

The lunar interior, inside the pitch-black palace.
The Emperor of the Yong Guang Empire sat upon his throne, gazing at Earth from a distance of 380,000 kilometers. The eerie palace was devoid of human presence, as tranquil as true space, where any sound of speaking would resonate echoes throughout the vast hall. The sound deepened and darkened with countless reflections as if beasts in nightmares were lowly howling.
In the palace now, unsettling sounds existed because the Emperor was speaking, speaking in a vacant hall.
"In the State of Real Sound, Qi Jingxuan lost her mental stronghold, and the birth of new actors has collapsed the battle situation; in Bibo State, Jane Grey Morton successfully ascended, Situ Yi acquired a perfect body, yet again twice..."
The Emperor closed his eyes, seemingly listening to something.
"Indeed, the seal can no longer sustain long-term, but no one in the Empire will submit to your will."
