Chapter 216 - National Competition VIII

"Damn it! Why is such a good class in the hands of that trash?"

"Yeah, look at his control skills. It's rubbish!"

The praise for Grid didn't take long to turn into curses. Despite having won two gold medals, the love for him quickly turned into hate after losing to Kraugel.

I guess this is what they call a sudden shift of fortune, Dave thought as he left the area where Grid was being badmouthed by the Korean audience.

Though there were still some who supported Grid, appreciating his achievements and two gold medals, many had already turned on him. Some even accused him of stealing the class and wasting its potential.

Meanwhile, a few trolls were spraying "Dung With Premium Perfume" as a mockery.

They simply meant that no matter how legendary a class was, without proper control skills, a player was just as bad as a normal player with a normal class.

"They sure are badmouthing him a lot," Emma said, feeling bad for Grid.

Dave nodded. "That's the harsh reality of being a celebrity. It takes years to build a good image, but a single mistake is enough to ruin all that hard work," he said with a sigh.

"Anyway, best of luck with your match, Hero King," she added with a smile, as the others also wished him good luck.

"Next, the semi-final match between the Hero King, Dave, and the Death Ruler, Agnus!!!" the announcer declared as both players logged in.

Dave wore a black magic set—it was the same set from Malacus, the Dark Sorcerer. He rarely used his magic class, so he had yet to obtain any new magic sets. Not that there were any better ones available than the set he had.

On the other hand, Agnus wore a regal purple and gold necromancer robe, exuding a dark and ominous aura.

"Kekeke, I really wanted to meet you," Agnus said as the red light signaled the start of the match.

"You see, when I raided Behen Archipelago, I lost three times. I was preparing for my fourth attempt to acquire the legendary Death Knights. But you... kekeke." Agnus grinned wickedly and sneered at Dave. "You completed it before me, robbing me of my chance to obtain them. So, what are you going to do about it?"

"Beat you to a pulp," Dave replied with a smirk.

Agnus chuckled darkly, lifting his arms as his aura turned eerie. "Oh, I'd love to see you try."

The moment he finished speaking, two Death Knights appeared beside him, their crimson eyes glowing menacingly. Then, two Liches emerged, followed by an entire horde of Skeleton Warriors. With a snap of his fingers, they rushed forward like shadows.

"Here it is! The Death Ruler's true power!"

"We have never seen such power before! It seems Hero King Dave has forced the Death Ruler to reveal his full strength!" the commentator announced excitedly.

As Dave walked toward Agnus, he was already chanting the legendary magic he possessed.

"Frozen Empire!"

The moment he finished his chant, a terrifying wave of icy energy erupted, spreading across the battlefield. The cold was so intense that even space seemed to freeze, and before Agnus could react, his entire undead army was encased in ice.

[Legendary magic has been revealed.]

[The peak magic is freezing the world.]

[Goddess of Light Rebecca has exerted her power. All frozen things are restored like it is a lie.]

The ice expanded rapidly, covering the battlefield in a thick frozen wasteland. Agnus's undead army, which had been charging moments ago, was instantly obliterated, shattering into frozen fragments.

"Oh my god!"

"His entire undead army was wiped out by a single spell!"

"What the hell is this broken class?!"

"No, this is what everyone was waiting for! People laughed when he spent 15 seconds chanting, but Agnus is an idiot for giving a mage time!"

The reactions were mixed, but no one could deny the overwhelming power of Legendary Magic.

However, when the [Log Out] message didn't appear, confusion spread among the spectators.

"What the—?"

The cameras focused on Agnus, revealing his horrifying state—his body was now half-frozen, with sections of his flesh turned into skeletal remains.

[ Power to reject Death has been activated ]

[ You have turned into an Undead ]

"You are really impressive, but I didn't think those Legendary Death Knights were idiots like me, who just wanted to see Legendary Magic and gave you time to cast it," Agnus said with a smirk.

In his hand, a sword appeared, its blade turning into a rusted iron color as he clicked it with his tongue. "Let's fight!" He lunged at Dave.

Dave responded in kind, summoning a weapon of his own—a sleek, Lighting Elemental sword shimmering with power. The battlefield transformed into a duel of steel..No,In duel of Corruption and Magic.

"Oye, oye, aren't you a magician? Why such splendid swordsmanship?" Agnus mocked as their blades clashed.

The spectators were just as shocked.

"Wait... isn't this supposed to be a battle between a Necromancer and a Mage? Why are they having a sword fight instead?"

"What an insane match! A Necromancer and a Mage ditching their spells to settle it with swords—this is completely unorthodox!"

"Well, I was an warrior before the changing to Mage class. What about you?" Dave retorted, his blade flashing in the light.

Agnus chuckled. "Same as you though in my case I shifted to necromancy" he admitted, before both of them charged at each other again, their weapons clashing fiercely, neither willing to back down.

**

"Their swordsmanship is good," Kraugel, who was watching the match, mumbled. The other Russian players turned to look at him.

"You're joking, right?" one of them asked as he nudged Kraugel with his elbow.

"It may seem simple at first, but both are masters in their own right. Their styles may not be the best, but they've adapted their swordsmanship well," he replied, eyes focused on the battle. He didn't know just how much these two had refined their skills.

Agnus possessed Master Swordsmanship thanks to his Rune of Death, while Dave had Advanced Swordsmanship combined with Weapon Mastery.

Both of them were unconventional sword users, but in this moment, their clashing blades showed the depth of their skill and experience.
