Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution-Chapter 936 - Unfortunate
Chapter 936 -936 Unfortunate
Seeing the only two countermeasures rendered ineffective, Lin Shen knew that this time was stable.
Some of the God-making Race had already begun to quietly retreat; facing such a terrifying Emperor Tianshu, mere numbers were no longer sufficient to ensure victory.
Moreover, Emperor Tianshu was not alone—behind him stood the support of the Celestial Race, whose profound heritage was not to be underestimated.
No matter how fiercely Wei Er erupted with strength, or how his form shifted, the omnipresent light, as if locked onto him, rendered all his actions futile. The light patterns on his body became increasingly numerous, looking as though they could shatter at any moment.
Suddenly, the radiance of Emperor Tianshu dimmed significantly.
“What’s happening?” Lin Shen saw the dimming light, and the originally bright void now seemed to be covered with dark clouds.
But clouds that could cover the sun would never obscure Emperor Tianshu in the vacuum of space; therefore, the dark clouds didn’t exist—it had to be an issue with Emperor Tianshu.
Lin Shen thought new enemies had appeared, but his gaze swept the area and found no one in sight.
“It has finally come,” An Yi said somberly, his gaze fixed on Emperor Tianshu in the void.
“What has come?” Lin Shen asked, looking towards An Yi; he had noticed nothing.
“The Death Tribulation,” An Yi answered.
“The Death Tribulation… it’s come at such an inopportune time…” Lin Shen was startled and hastily looked towards Emperor Tianshu, but could see nothing on him, only that his luminescence was weakening.
He had always heard of the Death Tribulation, and also that its deadly light was invisible and unfelt by others, targeting only the Immortal undergoing tribulation.
Moreover, the Death Tribulation was harder to overcome with each iteration, and the deadly light grew stronger.
For an Immortal like Emperor Tianshu, who became Immortal at a young age and had faced countless Death Tribulations, the intensity of the deadly light was certainly horrifying.
Ordinarily, even an Immortal fully prepared might not cross the Death Tribulation, and now, at such a crucial moment in the battle, the Death Tribulation had arrived—truly unfortunate timing.
As Emperor Tianshu’s brilliance dimmed, the light within Wei Er, who was about to burst from the brightness, also weakened considerably, and he seemed to be recovering.
“It’s not bad luck,” An Yi said coldly. “It appeared precisely because we reached this step; it’s inevitable, not coincidence. We have prepared for a thousand years just for this day.”
“The Death Tribulation was deliberately brought on by you?” Lin Shen was taken aback, recalling that An Yi had said their preparations were not originally for dealing with the God-making Race.
An Yi nodded and then shook his head: “It was deliberate, but not at this time or place. We had originally intended to resolve the hidden threat of the God-making Race and then focus on this matter. Unfortunately, the might of the God-making Race exceeded our expectations, forcing Emperor Tianshu to reveal his true power prematurely, leading to the Death Tribulation.”
“Why does revealing one’s power necessarily bring about the Death Tribulation?” Lin Shen sensed the crux of the matter.

As far as he knew, the Death Tribulation had no fixed timing and was random; nor had he heard it was related to strength.
Yet, according to An Yi, they seemed to be able to control the timing of the Death Tribulation.
Furthermore, An Yi’s statement was unusual; it seemed excessive for them to prepare for a thousand years just to help Emperor Tianshu overcome the Death Tribulation.
To aid one person through the Death Tribulation, to leverage a great race like the Celestial Race and prepare for a thousand years, seemed to be an extraordinarily difficult endeavor.
If one Death Tribulation was so challenging, how had other Immortals managed to overcome theirs? In the cosmic scale, few had Emperor Tianshu’s strength and heritage, and if even he needed the full effort of his entire race prepared over a thousand years, it was hard to imagine how many other Immortals could survive it.
An Yi slowly said, “Most people believe that the Death Tribulation is a mechanic for the cosmic balance of energy; Immortals consume a lot of energy, causing significant damage to the cosmos, thus the Death Tribulation exists. There’s an ancient saying ‘a whale falls and All-Life Genesis occurs,’ meaning that when a creature containing vast energy dies, its energy returns to the cosmos, giving birth to more life. Immortals are in a similar situation.”
“But is that really the case? While Immortals do consume a lot of energy, this is but a negligible fraction for the entire Universes, far from capable of impacting it significantly; the Universes doesn’t lack for the bit of energy within an Immortal,” An Yi’s eyes gleamed as he looked at Emperor Tianshu in the void and continued: “After much research, we discovered a reality that the Death Tribulation isn’t a spontaneous act of the Universe, but rather an intervention by someone deliberately erasing Immortals.”
“The Death Tribulation is controlled by someone?” Everyone was stunned, hardly able to imagine what kind of being could control something as lethal as the Death Tribulation, which threatened Immortals with death.
“Yes, the Death Tribulation is controlled, and although we don’t know who, or what, controls it, we have conducted extensive research and finally discerned its pattern; it’s not random, it can be predicted. There’s actually only one criterion for the occurrence of the Death Tribulation: the strength of the Immortal itself,” An Yi stated.
“I’ve never heard that becoming stronger triggers the Death Tribulation,” Chi Xinhuo spoke up.
Aside from An Yi, Chi Xinhuo and Yan Ruyu were the only Immortals present, having both transcended the Death Tribulation, they had the most authority to speak.
“That depends on your interpretation of ‘becoming stronger.’ If one considers physical Attribute enhancement as becoming stronger, then indeed there’s no relation to the Death Tribulation,” An Yi explained: “What I’m referring to is the mismatch between Realm and one’s Attribute. That is, when your perception of the Universe, or rather your Realm comprehension exceeds the energy you possess, regardless of whether your own power is strong or weak, the Death Tribulation will descend upon you.”
This explanation left everyone feeling intrigued, and Yan Ruyu suddenly spoke up, “Does it mean someone wants to eliminate those whose insights exceed their capabilities, able to glimpse what others cannot see?”
“Correct,” An Yi looked at Yan Ruyu with appreciative eyes, “We’ve prepared for a thousand years just to find out who controls everything, who seeks to limit our understanding of the Universe, who wants to block our evolutionary path. And all of this can only begin with the Death Tribulation.”
Lin Shen and the others listened, dumbfounded. Emperor Tianshu’s intentions from the start were not as simple as just overcoming the Death Tribulation; he wanted to uncover the person behind it.
Such a thought was staggering, and now was indeed not the time—the God-making Race had yet to be resolved, Wei Er had not been killed, and the Death Tribulation had already arrived; it was an outright disaster.
