Submitting to My Best Friend's Dad-Chapter 977 : Bloody Chaos
*Leo*
I rubbed at my temples roughly as soon as my car was in park. I sat still for a moment, just brooding over what happened back under the bridge. I supposed I was lucky that we were able to get out of there unscathed.
The LA Angels were not a forgiving bunch. I was barely able to salvage our relationship with them and it cost us dearly to do so.
We offered quite a bit of money and other assets to them and I ground my jaw as I thought about how we had been basically sucking their balls but it had to be done. I would not become a target, especially now that I had Bianca and my unborn child to protect.
Unfortunately, appeasing the Angels meant giving up a large section of territory to them. And even with that offer, they were just barely satisfied.
Franky could feel my rotten mood and was smart enough not to say a word from me the whole way back to the warehouse. I dropped him off without a word and he thanked me curtly before getting out, walking a bit more hurriedly than he normally did.
He was a smart man. I didn’t envy the next person who crossed me. If Darion was lucky, I will have cooled down a little bit before deciding to pummel him into the earth.
I shut my eyes before stepping out of my car to approach the compound. Bianca was probably asleep already but I actually was able to relax slightly as I imagined stripping off my clothes and climbing into bed beside her.
No matter what I was going through, Bianca knew how to calm me down without even trying. All she had to do was smile at me and wrap her arms around me and I was suddenly deduced to something of a harmless man.
I took the steps leading up to the front door quickly, my body automatically seeking out the warmth of my fiancee. Maybe this night could be salvaged afterall. It was late but I was going to try and make it up to Bianca for missing our date. Again.
I at least expected the house to be quiet. What I didn’t expect was to push the front door open and to be greeted by complete and utter chaos.
Several deep male voices were yelling and I stiffened, ready to rescue Bianca before I realized that it was Darion and Taylor. They were covered in bruises, blood dripping down Darion’s nose and Taylor’s cheek. They were being held apart by the guards who were hired on to protect Bianca.
My fiancee wasn’t in the room and that caused my panic to return full force. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
“Where the fuck is she?” I practically roared over the mess.
“Sir, your fiancee is just fine,” one of the guards said, his warm around Taylor to hold him back. “She is distressed but perfectly healthy and unharmed. She’s upstairs in her room with her friend.”
“She is not fine!” Taylor snapped angrily. “She’s crying because of this asshole!” Since he was being held back all he could do was jerk his thumb at Darion, who had two guards holding onto him as he struggled.
Darion growled, his eyes wide and blazing with rage. “You will pay for this,” he vowed to Taylor. “You have no idea the connections that I have. I’ll sue you and have you removed from this country and sent back to Italy where you will rot in prison for the rest of your pathetic life!”
I was about to fire Darion until his little monologue reminded me of the very real connections he did possess through his parents. As much as I wanted to ruin his life because of all of the trouble he caused, it would only bring us more problems. I had to go about this rationally and unfortunately, it meant kissing even more ass for the time being.
“Darion, Taylor works under me so I will be the one to decide on a fitting punishment,” I said, stepping forward.
Darion scowled. “Very well but I want him to pay. He started a fight with me, punched me in the face completely unprovoked. Then continued to spout threats.”
Taylor opened his mouth to protest but I sent him a hard look that even he couldn’t go against. I hoped he could tell that I was doing this partially to save him since Bianca would not be happy if something happened to him.
“Taylor, I have no choice but to suspend you for your actions,” I said. Then I looked at the guards. “Escort these two out. Continue to monitor them to ensure they don’t harm each other. You two are to not come back for a couple of days, at least until you’ve cooled down. I won’t have this uncontrollable anger around my fiancee.”
To my surprise and relief, the two hotheads calmed down enough for the guards to lead them out without too much of a struggle. Before they were even out the door, I was taking the stairs two at a time to find Bianca.
She was in our bedroom and I was happy to find her safely tucked in bed. What sobered me up immediately was the fact that she was sobbing, her eyes red and puffy as she raised her head to look at me.
“Shh, love, I’m so sorry,” I murmured, sitting on the bed and pulling her up so I could settle her onto my lap. I cuddled her close, breathing in her scent and kissing her on the top of the head. “Don’t worry. I’m here now. You’re safe.”
“I’m not worried about me,” she sniffled. “Amara is the one passed out in the guest room! Darion gave her drinks and pills and..”
“And why has no one called 911?” I demanded, moving to get up but Bianca put a hand on my arm.
“The guards already looked her over and said she would be fine,” she told me in a small voice. “But I don’t know! She’s so still and it’s all my fault! I should have been there..”
“Shh, slow down, love,” I said, cupping her face in my hands. “Your guards are also trained paramedics. If they said she’ll be fine, then she’ll be fine.”
Bianca sniffled and then I felt her stiffen with anger. “This is all Darion’s fault,” she hissed. “I want him gone.”
“I just got rid of him,” I said soothingly, swiping at the tears on her cheeks with my thumbs. “But I had to suspend Taylor for a while too. I had them both removed and they aren’t to come back for the next couple of days...”
Bianca cut me off. “Thank you,” she said tightly. “But I don’t want to hear anymore. I don’t want any part in this. Amara is passed out because of him. I want him gone for good.”
“I understand you’re upset,” I said. “And you have a right to be but-”
“But nothing!” She snapped but then took a long breath. “I’m sorry, Leo. I should have told you sooner but there was never a good time.”
I froze and stared at her, worry clenching my gut at the serious tone she was taking.
“I’ve been watching Darion while at school,” she said. “He’s been a terror there too, as you might expect but what really did it for me was that he is paying off the professors so that he passes his classes while skipping them!”
I narrowed my eyes at that.
“I didn’t have proof so didn’t want to say anything,” she continued. “But I know what I saw. And he’s objectifying women too, including Amara. I tried to stop her from going with him to that party but she wouldn’t listen.”
“Thank you for telling me,” I said, feeling my blood boiling. I took a breath. “But unfortunately, I can only kick him out for the time being. Until we have solid proof, I won’t be able to have him sent back to Italy.”
“That’s bullshit!” Bianca screamed. She sucked in a sharp breath and clenched her jaw. “I’m sorry, Leo. I really can’t handle this right now. I’m gonna go sleep in the guest bedroom tonight.”
My heart nearly stopped and I snatched her wrist before she could get up. “Bianca, don’t do this,” I said. “I promise I’ll do what I can...”
Her eyes softened. “I’m not doing this to sleep apart from you,” she said. “I’m going to keep an eye on Amara. If something happens to her, I’ll never forgive myself.”
“Bianca,” I said. I tugged her back to me and put my arms around her again, tucking her against my chest.
Bianca melted in my arms to my relief. I could feel her become vulnerable as she hid her face in my neck.
I kissed her cheek, sighing when I felt more tears dripping from her eyes onto my shirt. Ironically, this was what I was looking forward to, just being able to hold her and feel her warmth against me. I didn’t expect her to be completely distraught when we were finally reunited.
She was able to affect me so much. It was almost physically painful to listen to her cries. It was as if pieces of my heart were splintering off.
I locked my jaw and vowed to make Darion suffer for this. For now though, I needed to attend to this duty, which was to comfort my future wife and the mother of my child.
“It’s going to be alright, Bianca,” I murmured, rocking her tenderly. I ran my hands up and down her back in a soothing gesture. I frowned heavily at the amount of stress she was harboring. It couldn’t be healthy for her pregnancy.
“What happened to Amara isn’t your fault,” I told her, kissing her head again.
She stiffened at my words and pulled away, her deep eyes wide and wild. “How can you say that with so much certainty?” She demanded. “I knew that Darion was trouble and I still let her go off to that party. The least I could have done was go with her so I could watch out for her.”
“That’s not true,” I told her firmly. “You did the right thing. It wouldn’t have helped anything if you got hurt as well. You have to trust that.”
Her shoulders sagged but she still didn’t seem convinced. She stood up suddenly. “I’m going to go to bed,” she told me and before I could stop her, she rushed from the room, leaving me alone on our bed.
I understood that she felt guilty but this was more than I could take as well. I punched one of our pillows angrily before standing to my feet and heading downstairs.
I needed a drink.
A few minutes later, I was sitting at my desk in my study with a beer clutched in my hand but wasn’t feeling much better. I took a few more swigs of my drink before setting it down angrily.
I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and pressed it to my ear. “Al, we need to talk about that little cousin of yours,” I growled into the phone.
