Submitting to My Best Friend's Dad-Chapter 947 : Flash Bang
*Bianca*
When Leo let me go, I tried to reach for him, but Taylor grabbed me from behind, pulling me away and backing up with me and his arms. I kicked his shins and flailed in Taylor’s tight hold.
“Leo!” I called after him and fought Taylor with all my heart and soul.
How could he leave and go to them? I understood that Leo was a protector, and I even understood why he left. But I wanted him back, and I had not wanted him to go in the first place. I had stood there and helped him put on that stupid coat and put gloves on his big hands and tugged a Scully down over his head. What was I thinking?
I knew as soon as he explained what had been said over the phone, that he wouldn’t stay inside with my family and me. He would never have put us in that kind of danger, nor would he have left us to fend for ourselves either.
Before he left, he made sure that everyone in that house had a weapon he or she could defend themself with. He made sure I had my gun, and that Mia had weapons, and that Taylor was armed as well.
Most of the men in the house knew how to use a gun. Alessandro had taught me how, and I had shown my mom. There was enough firepower, and protection inside the house to have outfitted an army. Yet, the man I loved was out there in the storm, running away from the house with men who wanted to kill him on his tail.
He and I had spent way too much time worrying about stupid shit. Who cared if we weren’t really ready for a baby? She or he was coming whether we wanted them to or not. So, what, I wasn’t having fun all the time and being able to do what I wanted as a college student. Our lies didn’t depend on me enjoying myself every single minute of every single day.
We were worried about the wrong things and taking care of the wrong things. Now, I could lose him.
I screamed and flailed, and cried and pushed at Taylor, kicking at him until he finally let me go.
“You bastard!” I hissed at Taylor. “This is exactly what you wanted isn’t it?” I asked, my tone vicious.
“I would never wish Leo dead. He’s one of the Dons of our family,” Taylor said.
But I did not believe him. It would be better for him if Leo was gone. If he thought Leo dying would give him a chance with me, he had another thought coming.
Oh God, I loved Leo so much. He was the father of my child and the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I stared at the door he went through, but Taylor stepped in front of it to keep me from going through it.
I won’t lose him, I promise myself. I have to find a way to save him the way he would do for me if our positions were reversed. In that moment, I realized that acting like a hysterical mess wasn’t going to help my situation.
So, I straightened my spine, wiped the tears from my face, and stared Taylor dead in his eyes.
“I will forgive you if you help me get Leo back,” I promised him.
I saw confusion cross his features. Then, I saw the exact moment that he realized I truly loved Leo in the way that he wanted me to love him. I didn’t care about his pain. He had caused enough trouble between Leo and I to last us a lifetime, but I needed him, so I would use him.
“Okay, but we need a plan,” Taylor agreed and went to get Mia to help with the plan.
While Taylor and Mia were gone setting up the plan, I ran to my room. I put on layers of clothes to keep myself warm enough in the storm. I put on my shooting gloves to keep my hands warm and use my weapon. I grabbed the holster that Leo had bought me when we were in LA.
I grabbed my own cap and shoved my hair up into it and made sure that my hair was all inside the cap so it wouldn’t give me away. I looked at myself in the mirror to make sure I would be okay.
“You can do this,” I told myself and left the room, ready to go rescue my man.
By the time I was ready, everything seemed to be in place. I was surprised to see my mother standing at one of the entrances with her best cast-iron frying pan. It seemed everybody in the house had found a place either at a window or a door, readying themselves to be a part of ridding our land of the people who had trespassed with the intent to harm our family, and taking one of them away from us.
There was a volley of gunshots heard, and I was terrified that one of those bullets had found Leo. I was anxious to get out there and try to find out what was going on to save him and bring him back to us.
“Give it about 10 more seconds,” Taylor whispered from the door he and I were going to exit. Mia stood by the door across from us, and I saw several of the cousins and uncles with windows open with the barrel of their shotguns pointing out of the opening.
I was surprised that everyone had chipped in. Our family was mostly a peaceful one. I don’t think any of them men and my family had ever shot a person, and I was sure none of them were part of the mafia side of the family.
Hell, I had not even known about Mia being a part of the mafia until I had moved to LA and fallen in love with Leo.
Taylor did the Count, and as soon as he hit the number one, there was a loud bang and a blast of light outside. It was as if the world flashed sun beams outside. Then, Taylor grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door.
We dodged around trees, as a war broke out around us. There were gunshots and bangs everywhere. I even saw my gentle, sweet mother hit someone in the head with her heavy frying pan.
I wanted to shout to her to go back in the house, but before I could, she disappeared. I prayed inside myself that she made it back in the house safely as another volley of gunshots rang in the air and smoke wafted into the thick snow blowing around us.
I prayed that none of them hit me or Taylor so that we could find our way to Leo.
I was terrified that they were going to find Taylor and I and put a stop to our mission.
I was frightened that maybe one of those bullets would find me and Leo and I would never have the life I hoped for. I had to stop myself from thinking that way because I knew that if I didn’t have faith, none of this would work out.
I wanted to scream for Leo, but I knew I had to be silent. I ran beside Taylor dodging through the trees and taking shots where I could. I felt sick to my stomach shooting Men that could have wives and children of their own waiting at home for them.
But they had set their course by coming here and threatening my family home and taking the man I loved. I would kill every one of them if it led me to Leo. Taylor and I led the rest of them toward what looked like a net thrown on the ground.
As soon as all the men stepped inside it, the net seemed to bow around them. They were well and truly trapped inside. If they shot out, they would probably shoot each other instead of us. I swear the whole thing was ingenious.
The snow was starting to let up, so our cover wasn’t as good as it would’ve been if the snow had continued to blow and waves of white. The visibility was better, and that was a good thing for us, as well as a bad thing. We were lucky enough to get those men, cornered and trapped, but we still had to continue looking for Leo.
It was as if the rescue wagon had come. Because we weren’t just fighting on our own anymore.
“Bianca,” a voice shouted to me.
I turned to face the voice, gun at the ready.
“Have you seen Mia?” Alessandro’s strong voice shouted to me.
I wanted to go run and hug and kiss him, but I had another mission, so I simply shouted, “No!”
I had not seen Mia since we left the house. Taylor and I had been too busy trying to get them in on our side of the house into the trap he and Mia had set for them. I do not know how they set up those traps that quickly.
I assumed Mia had gotten the men on her side of the house into the nets they’d set up there too. I didn’t have time to worry about it right now because there were another set of gunshots coming our way and I had to get out of the way of them or end up like some of the men I had already hit with my own bullets.
All around us, I could tell that Al’s men were taking care of the rest of the men. We were unable to trap, shoot, or lay out with frying pans as my mother had. I still couldn’t believe I saw my sweet mother hit someone over the head with a frying pan. It baffled me, but my mother, like Leo, was a protector.
She would always take care of her family in any way she could. I had shown her how to use a gun, but, knowing mother, she felt more comfortable with her frying pan than a gun.
Just as Taylor and I rounded another tree, a shot rang out, and Taylor went down hard. I skidded to a halt and laid down next to him as if I’d been hit as well.
“Bianca!” Taylor shouted right next to my ear.
“I’m fine,” I whispered, looking around us to make sure whomever took that shot had left us alone. I saw legs running away from us, peered down the barrel of my gun and took the shot. I heard someone scream and fall, but I wasn’t sure if it was a fatal shot or not.
I checked the magazine of my 38 and realized that I was out of bullets.
“Shit, I’m out of bullets.”
Taylor stared at me and pushed his gun into my hand. His eyes were so intense, and his mouth was in a grimace of pain.
“I love you, Bi. I’d tell you to stay back but... I know now that you love Leo, and I see how much. Go get him and bring him back to you and the baby!”
I nodded at him. There were several things I wanted to say to him in that moment, but words were not enough. I was not sure there were enough words in the English or Italian languages to express my gratitude in that instant.
So, I stood, and ran into the woods with a prayer on my lips and determination in my heart to go save my man and bring him home where he belonged.
