Submitting to My Best Friend's Dad-Chapter 1038 : Too Much Blood
*Bianca*
The baby was coming.
There had just been pain in my abdomen for the past few hours but suddenly, something was very different. There was an intense pressure that was pressing down hard.
I gasped sharply, my eyes widening as I looked up at Taylor.
He met my gaze, saw my panic, and knew immediately.
“It’s happening,” he said to Darion.
A scream tore from my lips as I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to ride through the pain but it seemed to be rocking through me violently. It was a searing hot white pain that left me breathless immediately.
“What do we do?” Darion yelled, his grip on my hand tightening almost as much as my hold on his.
I could just imagine Taylor looking around wildly. “We need to get her in position!”
I was in too much pain to pay much attention to how the guys shifted me on the makeshift hospital bed. I vaguely recall them putting more cushions behind my back to prop me up slightly before someone gently and carefully pried my legs apart.
“Fuck,” Darion cursed as the hem of my dress was lifted over my thighs, baring me to the two distraught guys.
“Get it together,” Taylor hissed at him. “We don’t have time to freak out.”
“I know that!” Darion snapped at him. He seemed to steady himself with a couple of breaths before he straightened and stepped closer to the table.
Taylor’s voice was trembling but he stood his ground and took his spot beside Darion, stepping between my parted legs at the end of the table. “Okay, here’s what we’re going to do-” he started to say before his voice cut off in dismay. “Darion, I swear you better not..”
I looked over at Darion and found that his eyes looked far away as they were trained between my legs. I was going to yell at him to stop staring but then stopped short when his eyes started to roll back in his head. Taylor cursed again right as Darion fell backwards in a faint.
“Just great,” Taylor growled.
I tried to just focus on my breathing but it was becoming increasingly difficult as I glanced at Darion’s passed out form on the floor. It just made the whole situation seem that much more hopeless.
I cried out again and felt warm liquid pore out of me and spill onto the table.
“Fuck, Bianca,” Taylor hissed and reached for the pile of towles on the nearby table. He started to mop up the liquid. “You’re bleeding!”
I tried not to let his panicked tone affect me more than it already was. I had read that it was normal for women to bleed some during labor but it did seem like Taylor was wiping up quite a bit of blood.
An even sharper pain had me crying out and I reached out blindly for something to grab onto. I settled for digging my fingers into the blankets Darion had set out on the table.
“Taylor,” I moaned, tears streaming down my face. “It hurts so much!”
Taylor looked up at me and his eyes were pained and panicked. “I know,” he said. “And I’m so sorry but you can do this. You’re stronger than anyone I know, B. You got this. Just hang on.”
His words calmed me for about half a second before an immense pressure shoved down on my lower back, causing me to wince and dig my fingers further into the blankets beneath me.
“Just focus on your breathing,” Taylor said, eyeing between my legs. He almost seemed to be talking to himself as his breaths became more ragged and he swallowed thickly.
I stared at him, my eyes blazing with anger. “Don’t you dare pass out on me too, Taylor!” I shrieked at him. “I need you!”
Taylor shook his head hard and then focused on me. “I’m not going to pass out on you,” he said but his tone still sounded like he was trying to convince himself. He reached out and gripped my knees. “I’m sorry. I just don’t know what the fuck I’m doing!”
That should have freaked me out but for some reason, it didn’t. “I don’t either,” I told him, my voice surprisingly calm. “But we have to figure it out together now. Or did you forget that I have just as much experience in this area as you do? This is my first time giving birth!” I doubled over as an even stronger contraction slammed into me.
We were even closer now.
“I know, I know!” Taylor assured me, reaching out to pat my back, looking completely lost. He used his other hand to grip mine for a moment. “You need to breathe Bianca. Please!”
I hadn’t even realized that I stopped my labor breaths until he said that. I forced myself to breathe deeply, even though it seemed to make everything hurt even worse.
“I’m scared,” I wailed, finally giving into the very real fear that seemed to be tearing me apart. “I want Leo!” I was crying like a child now but I didn’t care. I was frightened and hurting and I just wanted my fiance by my side.
Taylor sounded like he was in pain as well and he stroked my hair back away from my sweaty forehead. “Shh,” he murmured but the sound was shaky. “It’s going to be okay. Leo will be here any minute now, I’m sure.”
I might have not been very capable of thinking clearly but even I knew that he was just saying that to make me feel better. It made me cry harder, my body feeling heavy and on the verge of breaking in half.
“Fuck, B,” he said when more liquid pooled out of me. He moved to clean it up. “Please stop bleeding.”
I never heard Taylor beg before in all the years of our friendship and it just made the situation that much more dire.
“I can’t help it,” I sobbed.
That seemed to send poor Taylor over the edge. He pulled away slightly and just stared down into my face with that same helpless look, only now it looked even more defeated.
We just stared at each other as I continued to cry out in pain and fear. Taylor could do nothing but hold me, rubbing my back and murmuring soothing words to me that just felt empty.
I could feel us both giving up and that was the most terrifying of all. Everything seemed hopeless as we sat trapped in a locked safe room, ruthless gang members after us, one of our friends passed out on the floor.
And worst of all, not knowing if the father of my child was even alive.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t do more for you,” Taylor said, sounding like he was going to start crying as well.
I couldn’t even speak now as another contraction tore through me. If I opened my mouth, I was just going to be screaming.
All seemed lost. I started apologizing to Leo and to our child as I started to succumb to the pain.
At that moment, the door burst open, revealing a wild-eyed Leo.
“Leo!” I sobbed, reaching out for him.
I saw relief color my fiance’s features but then they were immediately replaced with panic when he saw the blood. Then that color drained from his face and he rushed over. “Please do something!” he cried out as he gripped my hands and looked behind him.
My mother was standing behind him, her eyes widening with horror as she rushed over to assess the situation between my legs. “Just breathe, honey,” she said soothingly but her voice is tight. “We’re here now. You’re going to be fine.”
I just nodded and gripped onto Leo tightly as Mom took over, her hands gentle but firm as she looked between my legs. I felt her touch inside and she gasped. “We need to do something. The baby seems stuck.”
“No!” I cried in horror.
“The ambulance is on the way,” a female voice said.
I looked up and immediately saw Leo’s eyes surrounded by a soft feminine face. I knew it had to be Leo’s sister.
“It needs to get here now, Maria!” Leo growled at her.
Maria looked at me and her eyes, so much like Leo’s, were tender as she approached. She looked me over quickly, her face hardening into one of determination. She looked at Leo. “Do you trust me?”
Leo sucked in a sharp breath. “You brought me back to my family,” he said finally. “So, yes, I trust you.”
Maria nodded and stepped forward. “May I?” she said to my mother. Mom studied her for a brief moment before stepping aside.
“Leo, stay by Ms. Bianca’s side and make sure she keeps her deep breathing,” she ordered curtly. She looked over at Taylor. “You. I need more hot water. Now.”
The boys scurried to do as she said.
“Have you done this before?” I heard Mom ask, her voice low with stress.
“I’ve delivered a few babies in my time,” Maria answered. “Before my current... position, I studied to be a nurse.”
“Some pressure soon, love,” Maria said to me. I heard her ask my mom to help keep me open so that Maria could turn the baby.
I cried out at the sudden, sharp pressure as my baby was flipped around inside of me.
“We’re ready,” Maria said calmly. She looked up into my eyes. “Get ready to push, love. You can do it.”
“Okay,” I squeaked.
I screamed at the ceiling as I pushed, my whole body seeming to spasm as I did so. After a few more, I was completely out of breath, sweat sticking to every part of me. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
“One more ought to do it,” Maria told me encouragingy. “I see the head. You can do it. One more. Now!”
I shrieked as I pushed one more time and I felt it right before I heard the shrieking cry of my child.
The sound immediately brought more tears to my eyes.
Mom was crying too. “You did it, sweetheart. I’m so proud.”
Leo kissed my forehead but his eyes were on the little being that Maria was cleaning off.
“A beautiful boy,” Maria announced with pride. She looked at Leo. “Would you like to cut the cord?”
Leo nodded numbly before squeezing my hand one more time and moving to do just that.
I watched, transfixed as Leo held our son with one hand and carefully snipped the cord tethering us together. It was a beautiful moment.
I reached out, wanting to hold my baby for the first time, needing to feel him to ensure that he was in fact, real.
I opened my mouth to ask when a sharp pain shattered my plan, causing me to cry out.
Everyone whipped their heads over to me in alarm. “Bianca?” Leo asked, horrified. He handed our son to my mother before rushing back to my side. “What’s wrong?”
I breathed in sharply. “I’m not sure,” I said shakily. “It almost felt like-” I gasped at my body shook.
“Another contraction,” Maria finished, her eyes going wide as she felt between my legs. She gasped, her stunned eyes going to Leo’s. “There’s a second baby.”
