Stunning Dragon Wife-Chapter 66 - 65
Chapter 66: Chapter 65
Zhang Xiaoshan heard the girl’s words and grew even more curious about her.
"So why do you do that kind of work?"
"You mean doing the color live stream?"
The girl intentionally acted as if it was no big deal as she spoke.
"What else could it be for, if not for money? My family is really poor, and we’re short on cash. Making a little extra money is always helpful."
"Forget it, why am I even telling you this?"
"When are you leaving White Dragon Village? I’ll give you some money," Zhang Xiaoshan began to feel some pity for the young girl, who clearly had a story to tell.
"Give me money?"
The young girl didn’t take Zhang Xiaoshan’s words to heart and spoke indifferently.
"If you had money, you wouldn’t be driven to desperation by the Wu family, unable even to find a wife. Besides, I already said this is my compensation to you; we owe nothing to each other. Why would you want to give me money, like a payout? I’m not the kind that sells myself out there, so no thank you."
The girl was defiant.
Zhang Xiaoshan didn’t say anything further, to avoid any misunderstanding, and changed the subject.
"How much money do you want to ask from the Wu family now?"
"Two hundred thousand."
The girl knew she and Zhang Xiaoshan were now in the same boat and didn’t hide anything.
Zhang Xiaoshan thought for a moment and then said,
"How about this, you ask the Wu family for five hundred thousand."
"What, five hundred thousand?"
The young girl was startled.
"Are you joking? Even if Wu Yong was willing to give me five hundred thousand, his mother couldn’t afford it.
"And why would they be willing to give me that much money?"
Zhang Xiaoshan’s eyes darted around.
"You don’t need to worry about that, I’ll definitely have a way."
"You just ask for five hundred thousand, but after it’s done, I want fifty thousand."
That fifty thousand was rightfully his since it was originally the bride price he’d given to Wu Xiaoru.
"Okay, as long as you have a way, I’ll listen to you."
"Hmm, by the way, what’s your name?"
"Shi Yue."
"Alright then, let me carry you back. If you stay out too long, Wu Yong’s family might get suspicious," he said.
Shi Yue didn’t refuse, gathered her things, and then climbed onto Zhang Xiaoshan’s back.
About ten minutes later, they arrived near Wu Yong’s house.
Zhang Xiaoshan let Shi Yue down from his back and watched as she limped into Wu Yong’s courtyard. Then he turned and made his way to the infirmary.
Lying in bed, he pondered how to thoroughly entangle Wu Xiaoru’s family in trouble.
The Wu family definitely couldn’t afford five hundred thousand. They were the ones pressing his sister-in-law, Yu Xiuxiu, to take out a usurious loan; now he intended to let them taste what it was like to borrow at high interest rates.
Before he knew it, Zhang Xiaoshan drifted off to sleep.
In his haze, he dreamt of a woman, a very beautiful woman. He was embroiled with her, and the feeling was absolutely intoxicating.
Indeed, having never experienced it before, once he had indulged, he had become addicted.
"Wuuu wuuu..."
Suddenly, he heard a sound by his ear like a kitten mewing. Zhang Xiaoshan clumsily groped around...
"Little Shan, be gentle."
That call of "Little Shan" completely woke him up.
"Who’s there?"
Startled, he tried to sit up, but a jade arm slid around from beside him, enveloping him, and with it, a soft body entwined around his.
"Little Shan brother, it’s me."
Zhang Xiaoshan knew that voice all too well.
Turning his head, he indeed saw a familiar, unripe face.
