Strongest Superhuman System-Chapter 803 : Trust
The buzz about what it meant for humans to change into anima began to spread across the world as people wondered if what they were seeing was even real. The Syndicate didn't tell the world about themselves or what they really were, but people now knew that they were dangerous enough to take over an entire country without anyone finding out until it was too late.
By the time the news about what was happening in Russia reached the rest of the world, the Russian continent was already in turmoil. People were scrambling to get out of the country, and there were those who decided that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to give in to the demands of the Syndicate. These people had lived without any power all their lives, and now they were being given a chance to have the power that the elite had lorded over for so long. Some people didn't think that giving up their humanity was too much of a price to pay in order to attain power!

Mark only heard about what was happening in Russia a few hours after the news channels started to broadcast the information to the world. Pat was the one who had told Mark about it, and Mark was in bed with Arit and Luna when the call came in.
Mark got up from the bed with a confused frown on his face as he asked Pat if he was sure about what he was saying. The Syndicate was taking over Russia?
Mark only asked Pat to look into Russia a few hours ago, so for there to suddenly be something this big happening was insane.
[Turn on your TV. It's all over the news.]
Mark grabbed the remote at his side and turned on the TV as Pat said this, and Mark watched as the scene of Russia being rampaged by anima played on the news.
[…The scene behind me is happening live from Russia at this moment. More than a thousand anima have run over the country, and from the reports I've gotten, there have been more than a million casualties in the past twelve hours alone!]
The reporter on the TV was giving a rundown of everything that had happened while the video played behind him, and Mark could only stare in surprise while wondering how something like this could have happened without anyone noticing. Mark remembered that Pat said the Russian satellites were not accessible, and that was why he wasn't able to use the MDS to scan the area around Russia for any form of anima activity, but something like this shouldn't have gone unnoticed by the Superhuman Alliance. The Superhuman Alliance was present in every country in the world. Shouldn't the leader of the Alliance in Russia have said something to the other directors if things were this bad?
"Pat, can you get any more information on what's happening? I'm sure someone did this. It can't just be some sort of freak accident."
Pat hummed while the sound of keys clicking was still echoing from the background.
[Yeah, I'm looking into it, but it's not looking good. I think the government is in on it as well. Everything in the Russian servers is down. It's like the entire country had gone dark and cut themselves out from the rest of the world. Even the footage we're getting is old footage. The internet had been taken down there, so no one knows what's really happening right now.]
Mark cursed as he started to get out of bed. The noise from the television had woken Arit and Luna up, and they were both staring at what was happening in shock while listening to Mark and Pat's conversation. Mark told Arit and Luna that he was heading to the Superhuman Alliance and said they should get ready to head out of Japan as soon as possible. If the Syndicate were starting to reveal themselves, then there was a chance that the first place to be hit was America. Mark didn't want something to happen in the country while most of the strongest superhumans were outside!
"Pat, keep looking into the Syndicate and get as much info as possible! If that book isn't useful, then try to get into the Russian government files and see if there's anything useful there. You don't have to worry about breaking any laws, I'll take care of it! Just brute force your way in."
[Sure thing, boss.]
On the other side of the phone, Pat answered absentmindedly as he continued typing away at his laptop. Pat had already been working on the notes that Mark had given him earlier when he noticed what was going on with Russia. The news was so surprising that Pat just had to tell Mark about it. But now that he was done with the call with Mark, Pat headed right back in to keep figuring out what exactly was on the notes that Genshi gave to Mark.
The note was a catalog of information dating all the way back to the nineties when Genshi was still in the Syndicate. There were many coordinates and names written down from how Genshi figured out the various prior locations of the Syndicate, and there were also some images that were taped to certain pages of the book like they were trying to preserve them because they couldn't be replicated.
The images were like Egyptian handwriting called hieroglyphics. The hieroglyphics were too random and complex, and Pat felt a frown forming on his face as he tried to figure out what they meant.
After a few minutes, Pat decided that he couldn't waste too much time on this, and so he put a call out to Grace.
[Hey, handsome, you miss me already?]
Grace's first words through the call were playful, and Pat just scoffed and told Grace that he had a job for her.
[Yeah? I'm still working on the mana signature you wanted me to analyze. Is it something else?]
"Yes, I'm going to send you some locations. I already put together an algorithm that could decipher the base triangulation of all of them, but there's some tweaking that's needed. You should be able to figure out what I need when you see the code."
Pat sent in the code he had been writing for triangulating the locations that were represented in the notes, and he also sent all the coordinates to Grace for her to have a look at. Grace was surprised by the sheer number of locations that were sent.
The Syndicate had been present for a very long time, and in the past twenty years alone, they had been in more than forty different locations, according to what was in Genshi's notes. It was obvious that not all of the locations were correct since Genshi had already left the Syndicate by the time he started putting together the notes, but there were some that would be correct, and all it would take was some deeper analysis from Grace to figure out which ones were suspicious.
[Okay, okay. You need me to use a Rishmann maneuver, right? And I could just change the axis of the algorithm to make it take more parameters. Yeah, that should do it. I'll get back to you in a minute.]
"Sure."
Pat turned off the phone once he was done talking to Grace and started to look into the hieroglyphics closely. It was a testament to how much trust Pat had in Grace's abilities that he was able to give her such an important task—something he wouldn't have done a few months ago when he tried to do everything on his own.
Over the time they had been working together, Grace had proved herself to Pat over and over again as a very capable person, and there was no one else he would've trusted with those locations except for her.
