Strongest Demigod System-Chapter 108: The Once Radiant Sun
Harold was standing on the opposite end of the room, and in his hand, he held a staff that had a red jewel embedded at the top. It pulsed with power at regular intervals, showing that it was an artifact as well.
The guard was holding Harold’s shoulders and trying to talk him out of whatever he was about to do.
Azrael didn’t move for a few seconds, simply surveying the room for any signs of danger beyond the both of them and when Azrael was sure that there was nothing that could harm him, he raised his head up and glanced straight at Harold.
The next few moments happened in the span of a single second.
Something almost primal seemed to activate in Harold’s mind. The natural reaction to danger for every human is to turn and see what it was that threatened them.
Even though Harold had no idea that Azrael had been standing in the shadows for a moment, his natural instinct, born from years of evolution, forced him to turn his head towards the shadow of the hallway.
And in there, he saw a dark, emotionless mask staring straight at him menacingly.
Harold screamed.
"BLACK MASK! He’s here!!"
The guard who had been holding Harald back turned around sharply at the scream and drew his weapon from behind him!
Azrael pulled his hand back and sent his sword flying forward like a boomerang, and it stabbed right into the man’s chest, throwing him back into Harold and sending them both to the ground!
Azrael began to run forward, and Harold threw the dead guard off his body and shouted!
"You think you’re just going to kill me? Think again! I’m not dying! I’m never dying!"
Harold screamed at the top of his lungs, and Azrael’s eyes widened when the giant scepter that Harold was holding began to glow with a bright red light that shone mysteriously over the entire storage room!
Azrael picked up his speed while putting his hand out to summon the Oathkeeper blade back to him, but before he could reach Harold, the light receded back into the scepter before a wave of pure undeniable power shot out from the jewel in a massive shockwave, sending both Azrael and Harold shooting back from the force!
SLAM!
Azrael’s back slammed into one of the glass cases in the room, shattering it and throwing the artifact inside it to the ground, and he could hear the sound of glass breaking all around the room to show that the wave of power had destroyed most of the glass cases.
Azrael immediately looked back at Harold, and he felt his eyes widen when he saw something that he never expected to see in a place like this.
A pale blue vertical line ran across the space between the two of them, pulsing with divine essence.
Harold had just opened a Tear in the veil.
Rumble~!
Something deep and dangerous rumbled from beyond the veil opening, sending shivers down Azrael’s spine from the sound alone.
Azrael immediately put his hand out and summoned the Oathkeeper back to him.
The sword shook from its place on the other side of the room before swinging into his hands obediently.
Azrael never took his eyes off the tear.
The last time Azrael faced something that came out from the veil, it was a Lesser Daemon. Something that any demigod could defeat with the right amount of training.
But even that creature had been far stronger than what Azrael thought it would be.
From the size of the tear in front of him, as well as the sounds he could hear emanating from beyond the blue gate, Azrael knew that this was not going to be some Lesser Daemon.
Harold had opened the pathway for something beyond comprehension.
A single white hand grabbed the edge of the Tear, and Azrael took a step back at the sheer size of that hand!
It was at least as large as his head!
The hand began to pull a creature out from within the veil, and Azrael watched, transfixed, as the creature slowly revealed itself.
It was large—easily three times the size of a regular man. It had an aura of corrupted purity all around it, a dark light shining from every pore in its body and bathing the room in its luminescent darkness.
Its skin was a chalky white, and its body was similar to that of a well-built man. It had two hands and two legs, but behind it were four large wings that covered half the room when they were spread wide.
The wings had once been white, but just like the aura surrounding the creature, they had also been slowly corrupted in darkness. Leaving only small parts of it with its once radiant color.
The creature had gold jewelry on various parts of its body. Its neck, hands, legs, and torso all had gold bands around them.
’No, not gold bands.’
...Those were chains.
What Azrael thought were gold bands were actually chain manacles tied to the creature’s body, making it look like a prisoner.
The creature’s face was just as radiant as the rest of its body.
Pale white and pristine beyond anything humanity could accomplish, with long white hair, marred with various black strands that fell down its shoulder.
Around its eyes was tied a white sash that swayed with the rough winds blowing around the room, and its mouth was set in a straight line that betrayed no emotion.
In its right hand, the creature held a long silver lance, similar to the ones used for jousting by medieval knights of old, and in its left hand, it held a radiant silver shield with intricate mythical patterns carved into its surface.
The creature’s mouth opened after its emergence, and its voice traveled deep into the soul of the mortals present before it.
~I am Jahosabeth, the once radiant sun on the mountain’s edge. The reluctant protector of the veil of immortal celestials. And I have been summoned in accordance with the vow made upon the Scepter of Lilith, to smite the enemies of her descendant. ~
The creature that named itself Jahosabeth turned to Azrael with hostility and pointed its large lance at him.
~State thy name, challenger. ~

…
"Fuck."
Azrael’s hands were shaking.
And it was not from excitement.
He was standing his ground, but his hands were wrapped so tight around his sword hilt that they were vibrating from the pressure.
This was nothing like what Azrael had expected, and Azrael knew without a doubt that he was in some serious trouble at that moment.
Azrael thought that a daemon would be coming out from the veil. He expected a mindless beast that didn’t even know how to hunt for its own food properly.
But this... this was beyond anything Azrael had been prepared for.
This was a warrior that was already certain of its victory. A creature that was created for the sole purpose of battle.
Azrael realized in shock that he was standing before the majesty of a Fallen Angel.
A being once blessed by the heavens themselves.
He was fucked.
Behind the angel, Harold released a loud laugh as he continued to supply Divine Essence to the Scepter in order to make sure that the Angel remained in the mortal plane.
"You’re dead now! Dead!"
He shouted in excitement, and the angel turned around to glance at him for a moment.
Harold didn’t know why, but he could tell that the Angel disapproved of him.
~It would seem my summoner is quite lacking this time around. I barely possess enough of my power to make me a threat against the weakest of the Ascended Ones. A mere ten percent of what I should be capable of. It would be wise for you to stay thy mouth until the bout is finished, mortal. Lest I strike you down for your insolence.~
Harald took steps back and fell to his ass when Jahosabeth pointed its lance at him in irritation, and he nodded quickly.
Jahosabeth then turned back to Azrael, only to see that Azrael was already in a runner’s stance.
Azrael grit his teeth and tightened his hand against his sword.
He knew that it was foolish.
It was so stupid that he couldn’t even believe he was entertaining the thought.
But this monster was not something you could run from. It was a beast that would cut you down the moment you turned your back on it.
Azrael needed to kill Harold in order to get the God aspect he wanted.
And in order to get to Harald, this was the hurdle that must be crossed.
The only way to win was to move forward.
Even if you’re scared. Even if you’re terrified.
In the midst of the death and despair keep moving forward!
And so, Azrael moved forward!
