Chapter 683: Governors’ actions!

City Office

Jeremy calmed his heart and was quietly observing everyone. It was going to be his first official mission. He had long waited for this day to come.

Melinda returned to her position. She saw other team leaders doing the same. She understood that they were going to do the mission as well.

Her eyes flashed with a glint. She understood that no one could fool the Governors.

Meanwhile,

City Governors Orion, Leon, and Martin were in the room, discussing the mission.

"Well, the Darkshade people won’t be able to offend everyone. They will definitely stay low-key for a while," Orion said with a smile.

Leon was standing near the window. His gaze fell on the beast tamers assembled on the ground. He saw the team leaders discussing things with their teams.

"It appears the Beast Taming Forces are honest. They don’t want to anger us," Leon said in a cold tone.

Hearing that, Orion smiled and replied, "It was expected. Without our protection, the city would fall. Then they would have to migrate to some other city. It would lead to a decline in their family strength."

On the other hand, Martin was thinking about something else.

"Things have come this far. Shouldn’t we inform the Human Alliance?" Martin asked.

Hearing that, Leon and Orion turned toward him.

"Do you think they would give permission?"

"We had already reported to them. Still, they were asking us to turn a blind eye," Orion said with frustration.

"As long as you have strength, you can do anything. The Human Alliance people care about the big picture. They want to expand the human population into the unexplored areas."

"Compared to that, our suffering is nothing," he added.

Leon remained silent. It was an unspoken rule, but everyone in their heart knew about it. Why was the Human Alliance turning a blind eye, even after such an incident?

Martin didn’t know what to say. He agreed with them in the end.

"Let’s go. They must be waiting for us," Orion said.

Swoosh!

The next second, the three of them left the room. In a flash, they appeared in mid-air. Their gaze fell on the Beast Tamers standing on the ground.

On the other hand, Jeremy Night saw the scene. He was shocked inwardly. The pressure coming from the City Governors was similar to Head Harold.

It was the first time he had seen the governors this close. Not only him, but plenty of others felt the same. It was rare to see all three governors in the same spot.

Melinda and other team members became quiet and respectful. His gaze fell on other teams; they behaved as well.

Jeremy was genuinely surprised. Earlier, there had been a commotion, but the City Governors’ presence had changed the environment.

"Listen everyone, my name is Orion, one of your City Governors. Thanks for accepting the mission. I hope you guys have read the mission details."

"You guys have to find the hideout of the criminal organizations in the city. If you come across the criminals, you can fight against them."

"But if they are strong, then contact the city officials. There is no need for you guys to risk your lives. Taking this as training, we have corrupted beasts to deal with in the future," Orion said in a solemn tone.

His voice spread across the place and was heard by everyone. The Beast Tamers heaved a sigh of relief. They were worried that they would be forced to face off against the criminals.

Now, they could do the mission with ease. Those who weren’t in agreement earlier had changed their minds now.

At least the Governors were sensible. They had a bigger threat like the corrupted beasts and were not ready to lose manpower fighting criminals.

Orion then returned to his position.

Swoosh!

The next second, Leon stepped forward. His gaze covered the Beast Tamers on the ground.

"You guys have to find the hideouts on your own, so it will take time, even a couple of days is possible."

"So, take your time to complete the mission. We only want the end results. I hope at least one hideout is exposed by each one of the teams here today," Leon said in a serious tone.

After saying that, he turned toward Martin and returned to his position.

Martin then stepped forward. He wore a serious expression on his face. He felt everything that had happened so far was a chain reaction. It had started with him assigning a mission to the Red Moon Chamber.

His gaze passed over everyone before finding the Red Moon Chamber team.

He then said, "I don’t want you guys to engage with the criminals. If possible, hand over the criminals to the officials; there is no need for you guys to fight to the death."

"Now, you guys can start the mission," he added.

Gasp!

A small exclamation occurred. The teams left the spot one after another. It didn’t take long for everyone to vacate the ground.

Leon and Orion nodded their heads.

Orion turned toward Martin and said, "It appears you were still thinking about that mission."

"Skull Gang members are notorious. If not by you, they would be dead at someone else’s hands. The higher-ups of the Human Alliance understand that fact."

"So there is no need for you to be burdened. The criminal organizations won’t dare to go against the will of the Human Alliance."

"If they do, then all the criminals could become front-line soldiers or cannon fodder," Orion added.

"It’s safe for us to follow the path of the Human Alliance. Everything is for humanity. We are also now using the absence of their backer as a chance."

"So the Human Alliance will turn a blind eye for us. Let us use this opportunity to weaken their foundation. It could take another decade for them to regain their strength," Leon said with a smile.

Hearing the reasoning of the two of them, Martin put his heart at ease. His mood was a lot better now.

Then they returned to their office. They had given orders to the city officials to help the Beast Tamers.
