STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 682: Bad impression!
Red Moon Chamber
That night, Jeremy received the message to leave in 10 minutes. He began to get ready. He put on his uniform.
Since it was an official mission, he couldn’t wear comfortable clothes. After getting ready, he left the room. It didn’t take long for him to reach the lobby.
He then saw a group of people. Senior Melinda was present among them as well. She was talking to them. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"It must be her team," Jeremy thought.
To be honest, he was not interested in meeting them. Joining the team was a formality, should the opportunity arise. He preferred to do missions alone.
He then collected his thoughts and walked up to them with confidence.
Gasp!
"Is he the one?"
"He is a newcomer. He is already a Tier-3 Beast Tamer. So the team leader was right."
"I don’t know what the Head is thinking."
The members didn’t hide their thoughts. They were openly discussing whether the newcomer would be a burden for them or not.
Melinda’s eyes sharpened. She said, "Enough!"
"It’s Head Harold’s decision. If you guys have any problem, I can arrange for a meeting," she added in a cold tone.
Hearing that, the members became quiet.
"Follow me," Melinda said, turning toward Jeremy.
He nodded to her. Then the group left the building. It was not the right place to discuss the mission.
After stepping out, everyone entered the flying cars.
Jeremy entered one and found two more people entering the car with him. They didn’t make any comments.
Shortly afterward, the four flying cars flew over the city. They were heading toward the City Lord’s office. The members then received a message from Melinda.
Jeremy Night was shocked when he read it. He found out that the city office had asked them to gather as soon as possible.
Five minutes later...
They reached the city office. The cars landed on the pad one after another.
They stepped out of the cars under the leadership of Melinda and entered the facility. The next second, they saw Beast Tamers from other organizations standing in line.
Melinda quickly found the city official and led the team toward him. The other Beast Tamers saw them as well. They were scrutinizing the strength of the team.
Jeremy felt their gazes, but he didn’t react. As a Tier-3 Beast Tamer, he felt their gazes were filled with probing curiosity rather than hatred or malice.
The team arrived in front of the official, a middle-aged man. Melinda showed her badge and began speaking to him.
The official took out his device and checked the database. The names matched the people who had arrived. He then told them to pick a spot and stand quietly. The city office was surrounded by empty land.
Melinda and the team members quickly found a place to stand in line. Jeremy swept his gaze across the other teams.
He estimated there were at least 30 teams. It meant every Beast Taming organization in the city had sent at least one team.
All the other teams looked tense and nervous. Their expressions didn’t go unnoticed by him.
"It appears everyone has the same fear," Jeremy thought.
None of the forces in the city were ready to offend the criminal organization. Jeremy sighed inwardly. He had seen other cities; they had problems with corrupted beasts and a polluted environment.
But here, criminals were a greater threat than the corrupted beasts, even though the beasts attacked the city gates frequently.
He shook his head and began to wait quietly.
Melinda told her team members to stay calm. She then noticed Jeremy Night. She wanted to introduce her team to him, but the timing and place weren’t right.
In her team, there were three Tier-5 Beast Tamers, including herself. Then there were four Tier-4 Beast Tamers and three Tier-3 Beast Tamers, including Jeremy.
She had heard about Jeremy Night’s prowess from Head Harold, so she believed his strength was greater than the other two Tier-3 members.
Melinda walked up to the two Tier-3 Beast Tamers.
"Theo and Freya, you guys have to stay near Jeremy Night and give him assistance," Melinda said in a calm tone.
"What?" Freya was taken aback.
Freya was a Tier-3, 8th Rank Beast Tamer. She was a middle-aged woman with thick black hair and eyes.
Her skin tone was fair, and she stood 6 feet tall. At the moment, she was confused as to why they needed to provide assistance to the newcomer. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?
Theo was doubtful as well. He was a Tier-3, 7th Rank Beast Tamer, the strongest next to Freya. He was a middle-aged man with a heavy-built physique, tan skin, and brown eyes and hair.
Melinda saw that they were unconvinced and noticed that others were watching them.
"I’m the leader here. Follow my orders," Melinda said coldly.
She then turned toward Jeremy Night.
She said, "Jeremy, if they face a problem, lend them a hand."
"Alright," Jeremy replied.
Theo and Freya exchanged looks. Both of them were angry, feeling that the team leader had insulted them.
The seniors in the group didn’t know what was going on with the leader. They didn’t say anything, but their gazes toward the newcomer turned cold.
From their reactions, it was evident they were not going to help him. However, they didn’t know that Jeremy Night didn’t need their help at all.
Only he could save them in times of crisis, including Team Leader Melinda.
Jeremy was used to their gazes. He had been watching the conversation and felt no threat from the Tier-3 Beast Tamers.
Since Sister Melinda had spoken, he would help them.
Similar conversations were happening everywhere. The teams of the major forces had decided to carry out the mission.
They couldn’t fool the eyes of the city governors. The higher-ups knew that the governors wanted the involvement of everyone.
So they told their team to do the mission. No one should back away from the mission. If they do, then the governors could take action against them.
