STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 241: Part 2: Averting trouble again
Dean's office:
Dean Carolyn was in her office. The day-by-day deteriorating situation of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students was bothering her.
Clearly, the students from humble backgrounds were influenced by the wealthy students. Even the students who came from neutral families started cooperating with the rich students.
She didn't know how to solve this problem right now. Suddenly, she saw Elder Derek requesting a meeting with her.
"What's with them?" she murmured.
She then allowed them to enter. She knew whenever the duo came to meet her, there would be a problem.
Shortly afterward,
Elder Derek and Instructor Jacob walked into the dean's office. They sat opposite her.
As usual, Dean Carolyn observed them. But this time, she found their expressions to be dreadful.
"What happened?" she asked with concern.
"Dean, the kid has encountered assassins in the wilderness," Derek uttered.
Hearing that, her expression changed, and she immediately asked, "What are you talking about?"
"Dean, this is what happened," Derek began to explain.
At first, her expression was calm, but slowly her face showed concern and disbelief.
A few minutes later,
"Despicable!"
"Who is daring to involve mercenaries to kill Jeremy Night? Don't they know his identity?" freewebnσvel.cøm
"If something happens to that kid, his father won't let go of us. Especially since the kid has strong backing in the Human Alliance," Carolyn said in a cold tone.
Elder Derek's face grew pale. Things were getting out of hand, and he didn't know what to do, whereas Jacob was shocked. This was the first time he had heard the inside secret.
He had speculated that there must be someone backing Jeremy Night. But he had thought it was his father. He had never expected the kid to still have backing in the Human Alliance.
"No wonder that kid was confident," he thought.
"Elder, take a few other law enforcement elders to the city gate. If the mercenaries appear, catch them. I want to know who is behind this plan," Carolyn said.
"Okay," Elder Derek replied.
Then he and Jacob left the place.
Sigh!
Carolyn let out a deep sigh. She thought there would come a day when she would have to make a choice, and she didn't want to offend Jeremy Night.
Despite being an A-Grade Talent, Jeremy Night's combat strength was not that of a Tier-1 Beast Tamer.
He had already defeated May Lindsey. It can be said that if nothing happens, then Jeremy Night will become a High-Tier Beast Tamer.
A firm glint flashed in her eyes. She decided to report to the Human Alliance. If she couldn't control the family, then only the Human Alliance could do it.
Time passed,
Elder Derek, Instructor Jacob, and a few other law enforcement elders left the university and quickly arrived at the city gate.
Their appearance alarmed the city guards. When their captain saw the university elders, he recognized Jacob.
Not long ago, he had met him during the assassination attempt on the university student by a gunman. The captain went to meet them. But he quickly learned that a similar incident had taken place. He was shocked to the core.
The City Guard Captain advised them to inform the City Police. Captain Nathan had been investigating the case. He had requested information if the kid, Jeremy Night, was targeted again.
But they didn't know that the two incidents were separate and the attackers were different.
As night fell, City Captain Nathan and his team learned about the new incident. They immediately left their station.
Last time, they had paused the case because they didn't have any leads. But this time someone had targeted the victim inside the wilderness.
It was a great crime. Killing a rising beast tamer would not be tolerated by the Human Alliance. Especially since that kid came from the City Governor's family. He was one of them.
About 10 minutes later,
Captain Nathan and his team arrived at the city gate. The City Guard Captain, Elder Derek, Jacob, and others were waiting inside the admin building's guest room.
Captain Nathan walked into the room with his team.
"Thanks for informing me," Nathan said as his gaze fell upon the City Guard Captain.
Then he shifted his attention to the university elder. Especially, he saw Jacob Henry. He then walked up to him and said, "It's nice to see you again, Mr. Henry."
"Can you tell me what happened?" Nathan asked.
Hearing that, Jacob stood up, but he didn't know what to say for a moment. He then turned towards Elder Derek. Seeing that he was nodding his head, Jacob turned towards Captain Nathan.
He then started to explain.
A few minutes later,
"Mercenaries," Nathan uttered in a surprised tone.
Even his team members were surprised. No one can predict the human heart. The entire human population is facing threats from corrupted beasts.
Yet there are narrow-minded people who commit evil for small profit. There is no lack of such people. That's why there is a City Police division in each city under each zone.
Captain Nathan then suppressed his thoughts.
He then said, "I'll send a few of my people to investigate."
Hearing that, Jacob nodded his head.
Captain Nathan then left with his team. After coming out of the building, he instructed his team.
"It might be someone posting a job on the underground network. It would be difficult to find the mastermind unless we catch someone to interrogate."
"So, I'm staying here. You guys can separate and try to collect details from the imprisoned criminals," Nathan said to them.
There are chances that mercenary teams with bad reputations know about such things. Most of them do their evil work in the wilderness, so not many people can arrest them.
But if someone influential pressures them, then they will reveal the information.
...
Meanwhile,
Jeremy Night had successfully led the worm beast into the Forbidden Area. He didn't stop his movements. He had been running nonstop for several hours.
He was not going to take a rest unless he saw the beast's death. So he was heading towards the Black Lake. He thought only the Black Lake could kill the terrifying worm beast.
At the same time, the Tier-6 worm beast had been following the culprit. But it had found numerous obstacles along the way.
Because some of the paths were filled with rocks. If not for its strength, it would have been impossible to cross the hurdle. Now the worm beast had acclimated to the new environment.
It suddenly sensed changes in the surroundings. It could absorb more natural energy from the environment. For a second, it stopped chasing and started to enjoy the pure, rich natural energy.
Then it recalled the lingering scene of their treasure. The worm beast snapped back. With its limited intelligence, it knew that it was necessary to kill the human prey.
Otherwise, the place would be exposed. Now it started to treat the new environment as a treasure land.
Boom!
Then it started to follow the human prey.
A few minutes later,
Jeremy got closer to the Black Lake. But he came across a four-legged Tier-3 beast.
Cut!
He immediately struck with his katana blade. The hybrid beast's body split in two. Blood dyed the ground.
He didn't have time to look at the scene. He continued to run. It didn't take long for him to arrive at the Black Lake.
The place greeted him with the same heart palpitations. He stopped at the entrance and started walking slowly towards the lake.
Looking at the pitch blackness of the night, he felt more dreadful. Fortunately, he had reached the limit of Tier-1. His eyesight was better than before.
So he could perceive things better. But if he took out the gadget to illuminate the place, then he might be hunted down by the beasts here.
Tremor!
Jeremy felt the ground beneath his feet begin to shake. His eyes flickered. He knew the worm beast had come.
Swoosh!
He brought his katana forward and started rushing toward the Black Lake.
Boom!
The previous spot exploded. A humongous worm beast emerged. After coming to the new environment, the worm beast was in a hurry to kill the human prey.
It was not as leisurely as before. The worm beast, over 50ft long, moved its body. It smelled the scent of the treasure.
It immediately saw that the human prey was running forward. It moved its gigantic body to attack him.
Boom!
Jeremy's heart almost reached his mouth. His senses were screaming at him. Compared to the terrifying worm beast, the Black Lake was more dangerous.
Swoosh!
Jeremy Night was so close to touching the unknown black lake shore water, which was black in color. He turned around and started moving away from the Black Lake and the worm beast.
Boom!
The Tier-6 worm beast found it difficult to change direction. Because it took time to move its whole body.
While doing that, the worm beast's side body touched the shore water of the Black Lake.
Zzzzz!
The next second, the black water started to corrode the skin and flesh of the worm beast. The worm beast tilted its body in pain the next second.
It forgot about the human prey. It was now facing something much more dangerous.
