Stranger Danger-Chapter 1115: Celestials Who Are Lesser Than Ghouls
Chapter 1115: Celestials Who Are Lesser Than Ghouls
Xuanyuan Kun was more ambitious than that, however. He wasn’t satisfied with just being reborn via the “Descension Sutra of the Queen Mother of the West”.
If he came back to life without any preparation, the highest heights he could reach was his current level. He still wouldn’t be able to free himself from the chains of fate like the Colossuses of ancient times, and he would still be in the exact same situation when his fateful tribulation arrived. In short, he would not be in control of his own fate.
Xuanyuan Kun desired to change everything; transcend everything.
That was why he prepared. First, he would teach his host the “Records of Laojun Studying The Dao On A Bull” he couldn’t practice. When he was reborn, he would automatically possess the tribulation evading art and no longer be completely helpless before the whims of fate.
This was enough. Freed from the whims of fate and in possession of the many inheritances of the Kunlun Ruins, who could say he couldn’t one day advance beyond his highest point and transcend all realms?
That was why he was so happy and excited to see Ye Qing studying the “Records of Laojun Studying The Dao On A Bull”.
“No hurry, no hurry...”
That was what he said, but his tone was urgent, and his breathing was heavy. To say he couldn’t wait would be an understatement.
When the air of dao and profound light around Ye Qing finally began to vanish, a look of crazed delight flickered across his face. He immediately reached out to touch Ye Qing in the forehead.
There was a saying that went something like this: “A celestial touches my head to teach me longevity.” This celestial had no plans to grant Ye Qing longevity, however. He was simply plotting to plant the celestial seed of the “Descension Sutra of the Queen Mother of the West” in him.
Thud!

It was at this moment a piece of flesh on the celestial’s forehead suddenly exploded, and a bloody, horrifying-looking head burst out of the wound.
“You think you can be reborn and live another lifetime, Xuanyuan Kun? Keep dreaming!” The head growled in a voice dripping with malice and hatred.
“You again, Eastern Radiance Lord? How are you still alive?”
The celestial, Xuanyuan Kun, was beyond angry at the interruption. Face contorted into a vicious snarl, he immediately slapped his forehead and crushed the bloody head into bits.
Unfortunately, a new head grew out of a different wound on his body and replied, “How can we die when you are still alive, Xuanyuan Kun?”
“You too?” Xuanyuan Kun frowned deeply. “Is old fart Kunlun alive as well?”
“Kekeke...”
An eerie cackle broke out, and a piece of rotten flesh on Xuanyuan Kun’s slowly transformed into an old man’s face. It said, “Of course I’m still alive. I will never die until I have dragged you into hell with me!”
“You all plan to stop me?” Xuanyuan Kun yelled furiously.
“What do you think?”
Eastern Radiance Lord growled hatefully, “You should have known that this day would happen when you ate us!”
“The Heavenly Way isn’t blind, and you are a monster who has committed every possible sin under and above the heavens, Xuanyuan Kun! Do you actually think you would be allowed to live another lifetime and achieve immortality?!” roared old fart Kunlun, a.k.a Kunlun Celestial Sovereign.
“You make it sound like I’m the only villain on this stage! I ate them, yes. But weren’t you the same?” Xuanyuan Kun laughed wildly. “You’re all cannibals just like me!”
“Let’s assume that I didn’t eat you. Dare you swear that you wouldn’t have eaten me in return?”
“Besides, you are just the hounds of my Kunlun Ruins. I am the master, and you are the servants. It is my right to eat you should I choose to do so! You should be honored to be able to serve me in my belly!”
Several thousand years ago, a group of celestials led by Xuanyuan Kun, Eastern Radiance Lord, and Kunlun Celestial Sovereign tried to seal away the Nine Nethers rift connecting the Kunlun Ruins and the Nine Nethers using the Supreme Eight Celestials Realm Locking God Restriction. Alas, their plan ultimately ended in failure. They managed to push back the total corruption of the Kunlun Ruins by many millennia, but failed to eliminate the threat once and for all.
Left with no choice, they were forced to gather all the celestial qi and treasure of the Kunlun Ruins and seal themselves inside the Xumi Celestial Mirror. On top of that, they sealed themselves and fell into a deep slumber in order to minimize the consumption of celestial qi.
Unfortunately, even after doing everything they could to minimize the consumption of celestial qi, there still weren’t enough celestial qi in the Xumi Celestial Mirror to sustain this many celestials until spiritual qi resurrected in the outside world. Not even close. After all, even a single breath by a celestial cost a sea’s worth of celestial qi. What should they do?
It was very simple. If there were too many celestials, then they simply needed to reduce the number of celestials. So, after Xuanyuan Kun, Eastern Radiance Lord, and Kunlun Celestial Sovereign—the three strongest celestials at the time—entered a secret discussion with each other, they decided to kill all celestials beside the three of them.
When a celestial died, most of their celestial qi would return to the world. However, the flesh and blood of a celestial contained celestial qi as well. To maximize efficiency, the trio decided to commit an unthinkable atrocity: they ate all of the celestials they killed to sate their hunger for celestial qi and maintain their vitality.
Unfortunately, there still wasn’t enough celestial qi in the Xumi Celestial Mirror to last the trio. So, Xuanyuan Kun decided to act first. He ambushed Eastern Radiance Lord and Kunlun Celestial Sovereign, dealt them a grievous blow, and ate them alive.
And that was the ins and outs of the entire incident.
It was as cruel as it was terrifying.
Sometimes, humans did not act like humans, and celestials did not act like celestials in the face of death.
But why did Xuanyuan Kun not know that Eastern Radiance Lord and Kunlun Celestial Sovereign were still alive? It was because the duo fought with all their might after he started consuming their bodies. They did everything they could to drag him down to the grave with him. He suffered grievous injuries from that battle, but he was ultimately successful in suppressing them.
For the next couple thousand years, the duo had not made a single peep. Naturally, he thought that they were long dead. He was wrong, however. As it turned out, they had simply been lying low and waiting for the opportunity to take revenge all this time.
“Absolute nonsense! If it wasn’t for us doing everything in our power to assist you back then, the Kunlun Ruins would have been destroyed many thousand years[1] ago! We aren’t just the true benefactors of the Kunlun Ruins, we are your benefactors as well!”
Eastern Radiance Lord yelled, “And yet, you prove yourself to be an ingrate and a monster! You do not deserve to be a celestial! You do not deserve to call yourself the descendant of the Queen Mother of the West!”
“Hahaha... the age of chaos is nigh, and the conflict of the Great Way is eternal. History is written by the victors, and there is no such thing as good or evil, right or wrong.”
Xuanyuan Kun laughed. “If I win, then I am in the right. If I lose, then I am in the wrong. If I live, then I am good. If I die, then I am evil.”
“Well said! History is indeed written by the victor!” Kunlun Celestial Sovereign laughed savagely. “But do you really think you have won, Xuanyuan Kun?”
“Have I not?” Xuanyuan Kun countered. “I am one step away from victory!”
“And one step could be the difference between victory and defeat, life and death.”
Eastern Radiance Lord spoke up. “Do you know why we’ve laid low for so long, Xuanyuan Kun? It was all for this very moment.”
“For as long as we still exist, you will never get the chance to plant the celestial seed and be reborn!”
“You think you can stop me?”
Xuanyuan Kun scoffed disdainfully. “I was able to defeat you both and eat you back then. That hasn’t changed today!”
As soon as Xuanyuan Kun said this, what felt like an infinite amount of celestial qi converged upon the Kunlun Divine Palace from every direction and entered Xuanyuan Kun’s body.
As celestial qi entered his body, the filth and stench covering him gradually began to fade away, and his skin turned flawless white.
In just the blink of an eye, half of Xuanyuan Kun’s body turned perfect and fragrant as flowers, while the other half grew shriveled, rotten, and unbelievably smelly.
Purity and rot, scent and stench began clashing against each other. It looked like a simple clash between two different kinds of energies, but the indescribable power and air of Dao permeating the air spoke a different story.
The space where Xuanyuan Kun was at began to collapse earnestly. The entire Kunlun Divine Palace began shaking violently as well. The walls broke, and the roofs collapsed.
1. For some reason raw says tens of thousands of years. Could be a mistake, or it could refer to an even older conflict that wasn’t mentioned, so I just translate it as many thousand years. ☜
