Strange Worlds-Chapter 280: Second Day (10)
Chapter 280: Second Day (10)
Sure enough, after Aya said that, everyone looked confused.
James Ruler heard his name being mentioned and looked at the five children not far from him. Connecting the dots, he said, "Yeah, I faced Josh. He’s very weak."
The others: "..."
They silently nodded and said nothing else.
If they were not wrong, Josh was only slightly below them in the combat evaluation in the academy while James was in the middle. But in just a short period of time, Josh was overtaken by James in this competition.
Was the Green Family Patriarch such a great teacher?
The children were thinking about it.
As the ghosts were being handled by the other magic warriors and the Fourth Head of the Wansu City, they didn’t feel any urgency to fight anymore and could talk with each other in a relaxed tone.
Aya glanced at James and shook her head.
The Ruler Family has strong mental strength, but mental strength was slow to grow and it had to be accompanied with their mana for the most effective attack. James has always been very strong, but his mana was not exactly the best in their class. It would take him some time to grow.
Seeing him now, Aya knew that James had reached early rank 3 in terms of mana.
This meant that he could already use the secret skill from the Ruler Family, which increased his strength rapidly.
Though, it was still nothing in front of Aya.
But faced her cousin and her teammates, James should be able to last for some time.
Silas looked at the children who had relaxed and shook his head slightly. He knew that there were more ghosts outside and wondered who would make a move so suddenly during this competition. The location of that ghost master didn’t seem to be near any important people.
Or was it done on purpose by the Fourth Head of the Wansu City?
After all, Silas knew that the Fourth Head of the Wansu City always wanted to see the true abilities of these patriarchs.
But if it was truly him...
Did he really sacrifice the lives of so many people just to see their ability?
Silas felt that if the Fourth Head of the Wansu City did that, it would be too much.
’Forget it, it’s not my business.’
Pushing the thoughts away, Silas simply protected the children behind him. If there were any ghosts that appeared, they would have to face him first.
...
Bang!
Not far from the Green Family Patriarch, Nathan had joined in the battle and Nisa was helping him to heal his injuries.
"Tsk, I hate fighting ghosts," Nathan said as he waved his hand and there were dense walls blocking the ghosts. The walls were made out of mana, so the ghosts wouldn’t be able to go through it. This was done to protect the ordinary people behind them who were still running away.
"They’re not that easy to deal with." Nisa nodded. "But Uncle Green is doing well."
"Call him brother in law," Nathan complained.
Nisa’s face turned red and she glared at Nathan. The two of them were not married yet, so how could she call the Green Family Patriarch that way?
Nathan laughed when he saw Nisa’s appearance. He looked at the people who were running away and shook his head. Many people in Wansu City were ordinary people who couldn’t use magic and lived ordinarily. But they also have their own roles in Wansu City such as to promote the economy of the city itself.
In the years to come, Nathan was sure that there would be more people in Wansu City.
"Say, who do you think that killer is?" Nathan suddenly asked.
He was near Silas and saw the moment the ghosts were released because of Aya’s words. When he saw the person who made a move, Nathan knew that their purpose was to create chaos.
After that...
He was not entirely sure if there were other places that were being attacked.
"I don’t know," Nisa said quietly.
To attack a ghost master, they had to be prepared to be swallowed by the ghost. Because these ghosts would appear the moment the ghost master was attacked and unless they could perform teleportation or had some methods to block the ghosts instantly, they would die.
The person who attacked the ghost master seemed to come with the intention of dying.
He made a move on purpose and then stayed there without fighting as the ghost swallowed him whole.
But this also made the investigation difficult.
They didn’t know who ordered this person to kill the ghost master and released these ghosts.
"I hope it’s not him," Nathan murmured.
What Silas could think of, Nathan could also think about it. He was not stupid and his brother had told him the conflict between the big families and the Fourth Head. But even if they have some dissatisfaction, they would not dare to make a move on their own.
And the Fourth Head of the Wansu City also maintained that peace.
But this ghost incident...
If it was truly done by the Fourth Head of the Wansu City, then they might have to break all pretense and fight against the Fourth Head of the Wansu City with all of their strength. No matter what, Wansu City has become their home and these big families had paid a lot in order to build Wansu City in the first place.
After a few decades, the situation in Wansu City has gotten worse and they wouldn’t be able to accept it. Who would want to live while trembling in fear? Afraid that the Fourth Head of the Wansu City would suddenly make a move against them.
Not only them but also their family members who were in Wansu City.
Because they couldn’t let the Fourth Head of the Wansu City make the people in Wansu City face more dangers in the future.
Such a person... doesn’t deserve to sit in that seat.
