Stop Bothering Me, Emperor-Chapter 100 - Moye
Chapter 100 - Moye
The whole family had lunch in a strange mood. Mother Yu was going out to have tea with her good friends, and left the younger siblings in Yu Tang’s care.
Yu Miao was already over ten years old and had her own interests. She didn’t want to play with them, and ran off to her room. Yu Lin was left behind to stare at Yu Tang and Song Xiao.
“Let’s go, gege will take you to play games.” Yu Tang carried Yu Lin on his back.
Mother Yu was very satisfied at this display of brotherly love, and she picked up her bag and left.
Yu Lin was stiff as a board as his big brother picked him up, and he looked pleadingly at Song Xiao. Song Xiao idly followed behind them, and gave him a sympathetic but helpless look.
This truly was karmic retribution!
The two of them had been very busy for so long, and it was rare for them to have a free day to play, so they went to the games room to play the classic, Super Mario.
“This isn’t popular anymore.” Little Yu Lin began to disdain how outdated the two elders were.
Yu Tang reached out and pinched his ear.
“Ah, for imperial brother to become so good in this game truly isn’t easy.” Yu Lin hastily changed his tune and fled from his brother’s grasp to hide behind Song Xiao.
Song Xiao couldn’t help pursing his lips to hide his laughter. This kid had lived much longer than the two of them in his last life, and should have been the most mature. In front of his older brother, however, he turned into a small child.
“I heard that you met your favoured concubine from your last life at kindergarten?” Song Xiao hadn’t seen Yu Lin for a long time, and so pulled him to the front to chat. He reached out, wanting to hug him, but failed.
Yu Lin crossed his short legs and sat upright and still as if he were in court and listening to the ministers. Hearing Song Xiao say this, he promptly became listless. “Saozi, don’t make fun of me.”
The alluring and magnificent beauty back then had become a snotty brat who loved to cry. For a while, it had been a little hard for Yu Lin to accept it, but he had still carried out his duty as a husband and protected her at kindergarten. As for anything else… Forget it.
Song Xiao couldn’t help laughing; if he and the emperor had their memories when young, they might have met in kindergarten. But why had didi been able to start from the beginning, while they couldn’t?
“After the two of us died, did anything strange happen?” Song Xiao asked didi. Ever since meeting Cao Gonggong in America, he had been pondering what had triggered the group in the palace back then to be reincarnated.
Yu Lin lowered his head and kept silent.
“He asked you a question!” Yu Tang was playing a single-player shooting game. When he didn’t hear Yu Lin’s reply, he jabbed his brother with his toes. The three of them were sitting on the carpet, and when he stretched out his long legs, he could just about kick his brother’s butt.
Yu Lin fell on his face from the kick. He sighed deeply; turning into a child truly meant he had no human rights. He couldn’t even pretend to be profound and had to honestly reply, “There wasn’t anything strange at all. I buried the two of you together, along with everything that elder brother liked as funerary objects… Even the Moye sword…”
When he mentioned the Moye sword, Yu Lin’s expression turned blank, and he raised his head to meet Song Xiao’s eyes. “Back when saozi used the Moye sword to slit your own throat, I felt something.”
Hearing the words “slit your own throat”, Yu Tang’s hands trembled; he didn’t hit the enemy, but was shot instead.
Song Xiao shook his head. “You’re saying it’s because of Moye?”
The double-edged Moye sword was a mysterious weapon which Yu Tang had chanced upon. The legend surrounding this sword was very odd to begin with&#k2026;
As they were speaking, Song Xiao’s phone suddenly rang with a call from Xinghai Entertainment; there had been a serious mishap at the company which required him to go back as soon as possible.
They were forced to put an end to the conversation, and Song Xiao stood up to take his leave.
Yu Tang was a little uneasy and wanted to follow along, but Song Xiao stopped him. “It isn’t a serious matter; I can handle it.” Before he left, however, he borrowed a few bodyguards from the Yu family.
When he reached Xinghai Entertainment in a hurry, the building was already surrounded by a swarm of people. Police cars were parked at the foot of the building, their lights flashing incessantly, and firefighters were busy inflating an air cushion. Everyone was focused on a young girl sitting outside a window on the fifth floor, who looked like she was going to jump.
The fifth floor was a storeroom, and the window opened outwards. There was nothing for anyone to hold on to at the back, and the people inside didn’t dare rashly pull her in.
Song Xiao narrowed his eyes and felt that the girl seemed familiar. He then recalled that it was the girl that had bumped into him last time outside the door of the training room.
“Xiao Xi, if you have anything to say, just say it. Don’t keep it all in!” One of the company newbies was wailing at the bottom; it seemed that her relationship with the girl called Xiao Xi was pretty good. A lot of media reporters had already gathered on site. Since something had happened at an entertainment company, it was natural for there to be a lot of tabloid reporters. These paparazzi wandered around the company entrance every day and promptly became excited when they saw this happening.
“The chairman is here!” Someone gave a loud shout, and the media reporters turned their heads one after another to see Song Xiao, who had just gotten out of the car.
“This is your chairman?” Everyone was somewhat shocked. Wasn’t the chairman of Xinghai Entertainment Song Zicheng? When did they change to one so young?
“This is our interim chairman who just took office; he’s Chief Song’s son.” A minor artist hurried to ingratiate themself with the media, intentionally or otherwise showing their face to the cameras.
“It’s Song gongziah!” The media reporters promptly understood. In the entertainment circle, Song Xiao was the person of the next generation who absolutely got the most attention. Moreover, it wasn’t because of scandal, but entirely because of positive news.
The halos of “gentle and noble gongzi”, “top scorer in the college entrance exam”, “Harvard University student” and so on hung over his head from beginning to end. Seeing that Song Xiao had come, the media immediately flocked in his direction, holding out their microphones to him.
“Chief Song, may I ask if you’ve already completely taken over Xinghai?”
“Chief Song, what is your opinion about the unfair treatment of the company’s artists?”
“Chief Song…”
“Everyone, please wait a moment.” Song Xiao frowned slightly. The fierce and tough bodyguards promptly blocked the media reporters and stopped them from getting near. “It’s more important to save someone’s life right now – let’s discuss everything else later.”
Saying that, Song Xiao walked with large strides towards where the police were gathered, to find out what was going on.
This girl called Xiao Xi was a newcomer whom Xinghai Entertainment had just signed. Given her outstanding looks, she had been chosen to play a very important role in a production.
This sort of opportunity was too rare for a newcomer. Xiao Xi had been delighted for many days, and the company also treated her much better. Who would have guessed that when she was about to go report to the crew, she was told that she no longer needed to go, and she later found out that Song Zheng had snatched this role.
Song Zheng again…
Song Xiao was fed up when he heard this name. As an illegitimate daughter, she didn’t know how to keep a low profile after joining the company, and still acted like a tyrant. He had only been at the company for a few days, and already he had heard plenty of news of Song Zheng bullying others.
“I didn’t sleep for three nights to memorise lines for this role, and I didn’t dare eat anything because I had to become slimmer. I didn’t even go home when my father fell sick, and to lose this role because of shady business… Ahhh…” Xiao Xi broke down on the windowsill and cried herself hoarse.
“Give that to me.” Song Xiao raised a hand and took a loudspeaker from the police. He faced the girl whose cheeks were streaming with tears and said gently, “Xiao Xi, I’m Song Xiao. Don’t cry first; listen to me.”
Even through the shoddy loudspeaker, that clear and pleasant voice was still calming. The girl above him stopped sobbing so much and lowered her head to look at him.
“I just took over Xinghai Entertainment and there are some matters that I have yet to deal with. This was a dereliction of duty on my part. If you have any grievances, you can always let me know. It doesn’t matter who bullied you, I’ll definitely give them the punishment they deserve.” Song Xiao only understood the gist of the matter and couldn’t directly say how he would deal with it.
“Then what if the one who bullied me was your sister?” Xiao Xi asked as she glared at him with a pair of red and swollen eyes.
Xiao Xi had thrown all caution to the wind this time. She was already 23 now. This opportunity was too important; if she lost it now, it would be very difficult for her to become popular. She just wanted everyone to know of this matter, so even if the company wanted to shut her out, she could use this matter to draw attention to herself in another way.
The people watching the excitement suddenly realised what was going on. So it turned out that the elder chairman’s daughter had bullied a newcomer in the company. Things truly were becoming more interesting. In this situation, Song Xiao would be forced to take desperate action. He would definitely guarantee that he would deal with Song Zheng later, but who would believe that?
But unexpectedly, Song Xiao didn’t even blink as he said, “If you’re referring to Qiu Zheng, don’t worry. She’s not my sister.”
Back when Song Zheng had splashed him with boiling water, he had already said that unless Song Zheng knelt down and apologised to him, he would never allow her to enter the family.
The scene fell silent for a moment, then exploded.
What did Song Xiao mean by that? He was denying the fact that Song Zheng was a daughter of the Song family. An illegitimate daughter wasn’t something to be proud of, but Song Zicheng had allowed her to join the company and even gave her a certain degree of power, which implied that he recognised her as his daughter.
The media reporters were promptly fired up. They already had tomorrow’s headline: “Song Gongzi Denies Illegitimate Daughter’s Status, Declares That She’s Not His Sister”.
Above, Xiao Xi was also dumbfounded. What was going on? In that moment of stupefaction, the Yu family bodyguards had already crawled up under the window and grabbed her, and they instantly pulled her back into the room.
Song Xiao returned the loudspeaker to the police and thanked them before he headed inside.
The current crisis had been dealt with, but the follow-up still had to be handled properly. Song Xiao had all the executives convene for an emergency meeting, and also had Song Zheng brought over as well.
“I assume everyone has seen what happened today. I wish to ask, what is your opinion?” Song Xiao’s expression was cold, and his gaze slowly swept over the faces of these executives.
Song Zheng had been riding roughshod over people in the company – how could she have done so, if it wasn’t for the tacit acceptance of these executives?
“Something like this is fairly common in the industry. It’s not really a big deal…” Someone opened their mouth but immediately shut it when Song Xiao looked over coldly.
“Song Zheng has company shares, we also…” Someone blustered after a long period of silence.
Shares? Song Xiao’s pupils shrank. He had no idea that his father had actually given Song Zheng company shares.
This was just the tip of the iceberg; no wonder Xinghai Entertainment hadn’t been able to offer anything particularly outstanding in recent years – the reason lay here: newcomers were suppressed and bullied, and those with talent were neglected while those with connections rose.
After bringing the executives under control, Song Xiao instructed them to come up with a decent plan to nurture newcomers within a week. After that, he called the production team and had the role returned to Xiao Xi.
The crew was initially a little unwilling, but when they heard that they could use today’s incident to promote the show, they instantly agreed.
Song Xiao went to the lobby and saw Xiao Xi, who was nervously prepared to receive judgement.
“The production team has already agreed to switch back to you.” Song Xiao stood in front of her, his tone gentle from start to finish. “But I don’t want to see today’s incident happen a second time.”
There were many newcomers around Xiao Xi who were currently thinking that this trick could be useful in the future. When Xiao Xi heard these words, she couldn’t help the change in her complexion.
Song Xiao didn’t say anything else and directly turned around to leave.
The group of young girls grumbled in low voices that Song Xiao was too unreasonable, but Xiao Xi raised her eyes to look at Song Xiao’s departing figure, and her face slowly turned red.
