Chapter 2172: Chapter 2235: After All, This Is a Dream

A few minutes later, Li Yifei had already walked in through the opened Stone Door. It was another world down there, with three whole levels. The first level held several black people in ragged clothes, their eyes dull, unclear how long they had been kept there. On the second level, some white people were imprisoned. This group seemed a bit more spirited; as soon as they saw Li Yifei coming down, they rushed to the iron gate, shouting. Li Yifei ignored them and stepped down to the third level.

There were four cells on the third level. As Li Yifei entered, he could feel Wu Shuwei’s presence, so he continued downward.

"Shuwei?" Li Yifei walked to the innermost cell, and through a small window, he saw a woman lying on the ground. He hurriedly called out, but there was no response. He quickly opened the door, ran in, and held Wu Shuwei in his arms, confirming that she was just unconscious but unharmed, and woke her up.

Wu Shuwei coughed twice, appearing somewhat weak. She opened her eyes after a while and saw Li Yifei. She slightly grinned and weakly said, "It seems I’m dreaming. How could you possibly arrive so fast?"

Li Yifei, half-laughing and half-crying, said, "I thought you would say, ’Whenever I meet you, nothing good happens, just one misfortune after another.’"

"Yeah, I was going to say that, but what’s the point of saying that to someone in a dream? Anyway, nothing good ever happens when I run into you." Wu Shuwei complained with her head resting on Li Yifei’s leg.

Li Yifei opened his mouth, seemingly wronged, and said, "Why don’t you say that whenever you’re in danger, I appear by your side to help you out and save you? Thinking about it that way, wouldn’t I be your true love?"

"Pfft, true love—they say that about couples. We’re not that, though you’re a good person. There have been times I’ve thought about giving it a try with you; maybe I’d believe in marriage then. But you have so many women at home, I wouldn’t want to join that chaos." Wu Shuwei pouted and said, "Just one man with so many women fighting over him; even if you were made of steel, you’d wear down to a needle..."

Li Yifei’s lips twitched, steel...but his attention was drawn to something else. Was Wu Shuwei, in her haze, revealing her feelings? Did she really have that thought? That was something Li Yifei hadn’t expected.

So he didn’t quite know what to say next, but Wu Shuwei continued, "Never mind, why am I telling you all this? Even if I can’t find someone, I can live happily on my own. Reading, writing, traveling occasionally, resting in my cozy nest when tired. I just bought a house in Capital City, it’s not too remote but a quiet neighborhood, two floors, spent all my savings, almost finished decorating. I designed it myself, but hired people for the work, went to check a few times, fits my tastes... Why are you not saying anything?"

"Dreams, you can’t respond to everything!" Li Yifei rolled his eyes, seemingly speechless.

"Oh, right, because it’s a dream, you can’t reply, so I’ll just keep talking and you listen." Wu Shuwei said in a bit of a daze and continued, "I guess I won’t work abroad much in the future, just in the Capital City, so I can stay in that cozy nest of mine every day, I think I’d be very happy. I designed it really well."

"I’ll go take a look when I have the chance," Li Yifei said.

"You said you wouldn’t answer me!" Wu Shuwei frowned, pouting a bit as if upset.

"Occasionally, I will," Li Yifei grinned.

"Oh, right, since it’s a dream." Wu Shuwei pouted and said, "Even if you want to come, I wouldn’t let you. I’m such a tidy person; how could I allow someone messy like you into my home? Besides, I don’t plan on letting any men in there, I’ll probably get a Ragdoll cat..."

"What cat?" Li Yifei didn’t catch that!

"Ragdoll cat, they’re particularly beautiful and expensive; good breeds are said to cost tens of thousands." Wu Shuwei said with a look of mixed feelings.

"Alright, then I’ll give you a pair by then," Li Yifei said.

Wu Shuwei gave Li Yifei a deliberate glance, "Can you promise things in a dream? Well, yeah, in dreams anything can happen. Alright, then you can give them to me, but I don’t want males, female cats, one... or two, they can keep each other company."

"Both females? Are you hoping they’d become besties?" Li Yifei asked.

"Oh, shut up! I just don’t like male cats; they have little willies..." Wu Shuwei said, her voice a bit louder.

Li Yifei couldn’t help but laugh and said, "You seem to not only resist men but all male animals too."

"Why is even a dream version of you so annoying? Can’t you just go along with what I say?" Wu Shuwei lightly shoved Li Yifei, hitting his stomach, just missing an inappropriate spot.

Li Yifei said, "Alright, alright, you win, I’ve promised you the cats, two females. Once your house is ready, I’ll send them over."

"Okay, thank you in advance." Wu Shuwei smiled sweetly.

Li Yifei then asked, "What are you going to call them?"

"What? One will be called ’Meat Chunk,’ and the other ’Shredded Meat,’" Wu Shuwei replied.

"Are you sure you want those names?" Li Yifei burst out laughing, naming them after dishes, and meat dishes at that, for two beautiful female cats?

"Hehe, that’s what I want; thinking about them makes me hungry." Wu Shuwei giggled.

"Just remember not to go so hungry you eat the cats!"

"How could I."

"Are you planning on getting any other pets?"

"You can think about keeping fish, but not dogs. No matter what kind of dog, they’re just too much trouble. You have to walk them every day, or they’ll mess up the house. It’s really a bit disgusting, and taking them out means carrying a poop bag..."

Listening to Wu Shuwei’s drowsy ramblings, Li Yifei felt it was quite different too. It was a rare moment, so he didn’t interrupt her and let Wu Shuwei continue dreaming.

"You could keep some green plants to spruce up the home’s atmosphere," suggested Li Yifei.

"I will. But the house isn’t even built yet."

"How big is the place?"

Wu Shuwei pursed her lips, a smug smile on her face, and asked, "How big do you think it will be?"

"A hundred square meters; two floors make it two hundred..."

"I’ve worked hard for several years, just to earn enough for such a small house?"

"Haha, maybe a hundred forty or fifty?"

"That’s more like it!"

"But living alone would feel a bit empty."

"Why do you care?"

"..." The two bickered for a while. Wu Shuwei seemed more awake. She suddenly touched her face and then reached out to pinch Li Yifei’s thigh, saying, "Why is this dream so long? Previously, I’d dream of you, but except for those embarrassing dreams, the others wouldn’t last long. This time we even changed topics..."

"Do you still think this is a dream?" Li Yifei rubbed the spot where he’d been pinched; it had been quite a hard pinch.

Wu Shuwei paused, blinked her eyes, and with her long eyelashes fluttering, after a few seconds, uncertainly asked, "This... is not a dream?"

"You might have been drugged with some hallucinogens. That’s why I woke you up earlier, but didn’t rush you, letting you slowly come to, but it’s indeed not a dream. I’ve come to rescue you..."

"Oh my God..." Wu Shuwei exclaimed, covering her mouth, looking a bit incredulous. Li Yifei nodded with a smile and said, "That’s why I said earlier, you should consider me like Superman who appears whenever you’re in danger!"

In Wu Shuwei’s ears, in her mouth and nose, was the scent of Li Yifei. Wu Shuwei thought of the things she was just talking about; it seems that Li Yifei heard all of it...

"Why didn’t you alert me earlier..." Wu Shuwei said with a hint of resentment.

"Didn’t I explain just now? Are you feeling better? If so, we should leave. After all, we are still in a prison cell." Li Yifei pointed to the cell door.

Wu Shuwei exclaimed, hurriedly pushing herself off Li Yifei’s thigh. At that moment, she no longer cared about embarrassment, remembering she had been captured, she stood up quickly and grabbed onto Li Yifei, but her limbs still felt somewhat weak, and she almost fell down.

Li Yifei reached out to support her waist, holding her up, and said, "If you haven’t rested enough, rest for a bit longer. Anyways, there’s no rush right now. Tell me, what happened with Lu You? I heard you had an argument."

"We... you mean last night?" Wu Shuwei steadied herself and said, "Last night... Lu You came to me and confessed, saying he likes me. He claimed that as soon as he saw me, he knew I was the one he had been waiting for. Forty years of not getting married, he was just waiting for me!"

As expected, Li Yifei knew that guy wouldn’t be honest, and then he heard Wu Shuwei say, "I’d be a fool to believe that, so I just went back home."

"He just let you go?"

"No, he grabbed my hand, but I was firm in my attitude. He was still pretending to be a gentleman, so didn’t pursue the matter further."

"Hmm..." Li Yifei nodded, then grinned and said, "That bastard will be dealt with sooner or later; leave it to me."

"We’ll talk about it later. He didn’t really do anything. Yifei, I still feel weak in my legs, and my head is dizzy..."

"I tried earlier, but True Qi couldn’t eliminate that feeling in you. So that’s why I’ve been waiting for you to recover on your own."

"But staying here is very dangerous. I don’t even know why those people kidnapped me; we had just arrived here..."

"There must be a reason. Once I get you out, I’ll come back to investigate."

As they were talking, suddenly there was a loud explosion outside, as if a bomb had fallen from the sky. The intense explosion caused a powerful tremor, and Li Yifei immediately pulled Wu Shuwei into his arms to protect her.
