Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 69: Dinner Date
’You killed him!’
’He died because of you!’
’It’s all because of you, Rivana!’
’You took an innocent’s life!’
Those familiar voices played in Rivana’s head, her heart racing wildly at the memories. Her vision blurred, and her chest tightened to the point that she found it hard to breathe. She clutched it tightly, her shoulders dropping as she barely found the strength to stand.
Leonora quickly supported Rivana, wrapping her arms around her. She held her other hand, and Rivana gripped it tightly, fighting back the pain and struggling to stay conscious.
Rafaelo smirked in victory. He had totally forgotten about this weapon, but then someone reminded him of it through a message last night. They even sent the video that was long lost in the past, giving him the chance to get everything back.
Rafaelo turned to Jeremy and said, "I will be back tomorrow, uncle. Make sure you replace the chairman’s nameplate with mine."
Wearing his glasses, he patted Rivana’s head. Callum shoved his hand away, but Rafaelo didn’t mind at all. "Have a good day, little sister," he said and walked away. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Rivana almost collapsed, her knees giving out. A familiar voice haunted her, and she could barely think straight. She had believed she had overcome it, but the wound was simply covered by a patch all these years.
Callum moved closer and asked Rivana, "What did he mean?"
Leonora shook her head, asking him to shut up for a while. It was not the right time to interrogate her. Hugging Rivana, she asked, "Let’s cancel the meeting."
Mathew and Jeremy glanced at each other. Rafaelo seemed to be against Rivana, and from her reaction, they guessed it must be an ultimatum for her.
Rivana shook her head. Taking a shaky breath, she murmured, "Let’s finish it up."
"But—" Leonora tried to object, but Rivana shook her head again.
"Get me coffee. I will be fine," Rivana murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Callum looked at the time. They still had 15 more minutes, and it would be enough for her to get back to normal. He nodded at one of the bodyguards, who rushed out to get her coffee.
Jeremy moved closer and suggested, "Let’s take her to the office."
Leonora nodded and helped Rivana toward Emmerich’s office. Callum and Mathew followed behind, both equally confused by what had just happened. Callum recalled how Rafaelo murmured something in Rivana’s ear about murder. Did she kill someone? He wondered, his mind racing with all the theories. But that was almost impossible; she didn’t seem like a person who would even hurt an ant.
They all settled in the office. After a few minutes, Jeremy walked inside again.
"Are you okay, Madam? We can postpone," Jeremy suggested in a worried voice.
Rivana shook her head. Taking the last sip of the coffee, she calmed herself down. She got up and walked out of the room.
Rivana was quickly escorted back to meet the beasts ready to chew her alive. Mathew and Jeremy followed her, knowing she’d need some internal support along with Callum. They all moved to the meeting room to find people impatiently looking at their watches and grumbling among themselves.
As soon as she entered, many scowled, and one of the elder members snapped at her, "Young kids these days are arrogant. They feel being punctual isn’t cool."
"Are you talking about me, Mr. Kingsley?" Rivana addressed him, walking toward the main chair. Taking a seat, she unlocked her phone and showed the time. "I am two minutes earlier than the set time. It’s definitely not my problem that you arrived almost an hour early."
As Kingsley’s face darkened, Rivana clicked her tongue and added, "The older generation seems to look down at us youngsters no matter what."
Leonora snorted out loud, unable to hold back at the sour faces in the room. It would have been even better if many women sitting hadn’t worn their thick makeup because right now, they all looked like clowns in her eyes.
Rivana turned to Mathew and said, "Let’s start."
Mathew nodded and took a step forward to stand beside her. "Since the ex-chairman’s shares were all transferred to Ms. Rivana, there won’t be any need to cast votes as she would be the chairman," he stated formally, using company and legal vocabulary.
"But now Mr. Kingsley also has equal shares, Mr. Hason," one of the members said in glee. "Mrs. Feni, Mr. Girley, and Mr. Bass have passed their shares to him. So now he has 33 percent shares."
"Looks like you failed in maths in primary school, Ms. Yarim," Rivana commented loudly. "I own 33.59 shares, which is higher than the 33.1 shares he has. Or am I the one calculating it wrong?" When Yarim glared at her, she smiled, "You know I majored in computers, so math isn’t my thing anymore."
Everyone talked among themselves, many who were in Rivana’s support snickering in joy. The 20 members were divided into three parts: some on Rivana’s side, some against her, and others neutral, ready to jump on the side that benefits them more.
"And to everyone else, if you do not wish to be under me, you can sell your shares. I am ready to buy them at double the price," Rivana added, leaving everyone speechless. Of course, she had enough money to buy now with her husband’s support.
"This position will be run by the Faye family for as long as the generations to come. So, drop your delusions of ever sitting here," Rivana warned everyone in the room. Getting up, she added, "I will give you a day to think it over. Either be on my side or see me throw you out. There’s no other choice."
She walked out, turning the room into chaos.
Callum was glad that she was handling it herself without the need for his help. He was surprised that she had studied in detail every person sitting here and the shares they held. He thought if Rafaelo were in her place, he was damn sure that idiot would have faltered and begged for help.
Once they were out, Mathew patted her head and said, "You did great, Rivana." When Rivana nodded, letting out a shaky breath, he added, "Go home and rest for today. We can discuss things tomorrow."
Leonora wrapped her arm around Rivana and agreed with him. "Let’s go home."
Rivana nodded, already tired and stressed to the point that she couldn’t think straight. Earlier, she had no idea how that confidence came into her. Maybe she became cautious of the wolves that wanted to tear her apart, or maybe it was the energy of that chair. She was glad she wrapped up the meeting quickly. All she wanted to do was run away and disappear into her room.
Callum nodded to Mathew and Jeremy, his team escorting the ladies out of the building. Leonora took Rivana to her car instead, making Callum frown. She helped her sit in the shotgun seat, closing the door shut.
"But what is this all about?" Callum asked in confusion.
"She will explain it once she gets a hold of herself," Leonora said with a flaccid answer and hurried to the other side. She started the car and drove away, leaving Callum even more frustrated.
"Follow them!" he barked at his team members, who quickly got into one car and followed Leonora’s car. He stared at the remaining four members and groaned out loud.
Taking out his phone, he dialed Dawn first. "Dig into Rivana’s past thoroughly. I don’t want you to miss a single thing."
Callum looked at the Faye Group building and sighed. Whatever it was, they needed to find it immediately and also plan a counterattack. Rivana was this close to winning over her family that seemed to have ruined her all these years, and they couldn’t let all her efforts go in vain.

[A few hours later]
"Come on! It will change your mind," Leonora dragged Rivana out of her car. It was already night, chilly and cool, the clock almost hitting 9 PM, and Leonora suddenly wanted to dine out.
Rivana sighed out loud. "We could have just ordered something," she grumbled, having no energy to move. All this time, she had locked herself in the room, thinking and contemplating how to tackle Rafaelo, but it seemed like a dead end. Only when she was at the top of the sky, ready to claim her victory, someone had broken her wings, and she found it hard to fight anymore.
Leonora dragged Rivana into the hotel, looking around for some clues. She saw a man dressed in all black, sitting in the lounge. Their eyes met, and at his nod, she grinned and walked toward the elevator.
Rivana pressed the top floor button. Just before the lifts could close, Leonora cursed, "Shit! I forgot my phone in the car."
Before Rivana could respond, she quickly stepped out and murmured, "I will get it. You wait for me upstairs." Rivana wanted to say she would join too, but the doors closed in.
Rivana sighed. This was her favorite dining spot, where they could eat under the stars. The place was beautifully set up with a view of the night sky, full of stars, blinking down at her. She would always come here with Leonora and her team to celebrate something. And tonight was not worth celebrating anything.
As she reached the top floor, the doors opened, and the staff guided her toward the dining area. The entire place was pitch dark, and the staff said, "Oh, something must be wrong." When Rivana looked at her in confusion, she said, "Please wait here, Ma’am. We will fix this immediately."
At Rivana’s nod, the staff walked away, texting that Rivana was there for her team. Rivana walked into the area, looking at the sky with the full moon and stars blinking at her. She sighed, looking at the scene.
Suddenly, she caught a glimpse of someone standing by the railing. As she moved forward, the lights started to light up one by one. The person turned around, and the entire place was lit up completely by starry lights.
Rivana’s eyes widened in surprise. "Azrael?" she murmured, and as his presence became clearer, she ran toward him.
Azrael smiled and opened his arms. Rivana chuckled as he caught her and twirled around before hugging her tightly. They melted into each other’s arms.
"I thought you were very busy," Rivana murmured, looking up at him. She had tried calling him a few times after returning to Leonora’s condo, but when it was unreachable, she had given up.
"I promised my wife a dinner date," Azrael replied, nuzzling her nose. "How could I miss it?"
