Chapter 65: Blissful Punishment -1

Azrael’s eyes bore into Callum as they sped through the rain-soaked streets. His anger was palpable, his glare piercing through the dim light in the car. Callum clutched the seatbelt for dear life as Azrael drove like a madman, his eyes fixed on the screen, waiting for Dawn to speak finally.

After a few agonizing minutes, Dawn’s voice crackled through the speaker. "We found her!" he screamed, sending the location to them.

Callum quickly put it on the location tab, a frown tugging at his lips. "Moonlit Cafe?" he wondered aloud. Was this an abandoned cafe owned by the kidnappers? He thought as they drove through the pouring rain.

Azrael’s grip on the steering wheel tightened as they navigated the streets. The rain pounded against the windshield, making visibility difficult. The long hour-distance was covered in a matter of minutes.

"Holy heavens!" Callum prayed as Azrael brought the car to a screeching halt. He inwardly thanked the heavens and sighed out loud, practically sweating even though it was freezing outside.

"Wait for me!" Callum growled as Azrael got out of the car and crossed the road since the cafe was on the other side.

The Moonlit Cafe was beautifully lit, its neon signboard glowing softly in the dark. The glass walls revealed a cozy interior, bustling with people. Many stood on the pavement, waiting for the rain to stop or for their cars to pick them up.

Azrael, drenched and furious, pushed through the crowd and entered the cafe. The bell tinkled loudly as even Callum entered, their eyes scanning the buzzing place.

"Oh, there she is!" Callum pointed to the very end on their left.

Azrael turned, his eyes squinting as he focused in the direction Callum was pointing. He saw Rivana sitting at a corner table, secluded. He sighed in relief, seeing that she was safe, but his expression darkened as she laughed at something the person sitting beside her whispered in her ear. His anger grew as he saw Sebastian murmur something again in Rivana’s ear, sitting closer than he was supposed to be.

"Oh, this guy will be dead for sure," Callum murmured, shaking his head.

Azrael clenched his fists, his presence commanding attention. Even the people around couldn’t help but turn to look at him. He stood out with his physique and disheveled yet hot look, but many were scared when their eyes caught the malicious glint in his face. He looked like a grim reaper ready to claim his next soul.

Azrael walked towards them in a few long strides and stopped in front of the table, causing both to look up at him.

Rivana blinked in surprise before a bright smile lit her face. "Azrael!" she murmured, but her smile faded at his glare.

Just then, Ashley came in and was surprised to see them. Callum hissed, pulling her closer, and muttered, "Where the heck is your phone?"

"The reception is bad here, so I went to find a good spot," Ashley murmured apologetically. "I just came back informing Dawn that she is safe and will be escorted home soon," she added, looking down in shame. She seemed to have yet again failed at her mission of protecting their madam. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Sebastian stared at Azrael, trying to match his intensity, but the devil in front of him was unfathomable and unmatchable.

Azrael walked over and grabbed Rivana’s hand, forcing her to stand up. Rivana hissed as he had almost hurt her, confusion was evident on her face.

Azrael turned around to take her away. But just before he could drag her out, much to his frustration, Sebastian stood up and grabbed Rivana’s other hand.

Callum and Ashley exchanged surprised glances before pity filled their eyes. Sebastian had dug his own grave. Callum made a cross sign, praying for him to have a good time in the afterlife.

Even the people around turned to look at the scene. It seemed like a love triangle situation, and many wondered who the lady would choose among the two. Though Azrael looked tall and intimidating, many thought she’d pick Sebastian as they had seen them enjoying their time together.

"You haven’t tried your favorite pastry yet," Sebastian said, his tone loud and clear. Glancing at Azrael, he added, "Leave after eating it."

Azrael’s grip around Rivana’s wrist tightened, his anger evident in his expression. If she wasn’t standing between them, he would have punched him right in the face. He was almost ready to do it, but Rivana’s words stopped him.

"No. I will come next time maybe," Rivana murmured with a smile. She glanced down at Sebastian’s hand, asking him to let her go.

"But they get sold out soon. It’s hard to get another chance like this," Sebastian was reluctant to let her go.

In response, Rivana wriggled out of his hold, surprising everyone in the cafe. "It’s fine," she murmured, before completely turning to her husband.

She wrapped her hand around his arm and smiled, "Let’s go."

Azrael, though still frustrated, nodded and took her out. Callum made sure to enjoy the defeated Sebastian’s expression before he quickly walked behind his devil. Ashley picked up Rivana’s sling and followed their bosses out.

Rivana shivered as they stepped outside. The air was chilly, and the rain poured down relentlessly, drenching everything in sight.

Azrael took off his coat and wrapped it around her shoulders. "Wear it," he ordered.

With a sheepish smile, Rivana wore it. Azrael turned to Callum, who had already bought an umbrella for them. Snatching it away, he held it over Rivana and, wrapping his other arm around her shoulders, guided her through the people standing on the pavement.

They crossed the road, and Azrael opened the car door. Once she was inside, he shoved the umbrella into Callum’s hand, who had followed them along with Ashley. Callum opened the backseat door, but when Azrael glared, he closed it instantly. "Understood," he said, backing away.

Azrael stared at him for a mere second before hopping into the driver’s seat. Callum scowled and Ashley who was holding their umbrella, walked him toward Rivana’s car.

Inside the car, Azrael glared at Rivana, who was busy buckling her seatbelt. Feeling his intense gaze, she looked at him and blinked in confusion.

"Did I get you that phone to carry around like a decoration?" Azrael growled, his voice loud and intimidating.

He ran a hand through his damp hair to control his frustration. Gritting his teeth, he grumbled, "Why the heck did you not pick up?"

Rivana flinched in response, his eyes making her gulp. She quickly took out her phone and unlocked it. Notifications popped up, revealing almost 100 missed calls, most of them from Azrael.

Turning to him with a pout, she said, "I am so sorry. Aldona kept calling me this afternoon, and I put it on silent since we were in a meeting."

"Oh, really?" Azrael scoffed at her. "And here I thought you didn’t want anyone to disturb your sweet rainy date."

"It was not a date!" Rivana retorted, but she shut up, realizing she was totally at fault.

Azrael sighed out loud and extended his palm, asking for the phone.

Rivana had an idea to make him smile. Instead of passing the phone, she leaned closer and placed her chin over his palm.

Azrael looked at her in surprise. Rivana blinked at him innocently, her lips curved into a pout. He couldn’t hold himself and broke into a small smile.

Rivana smiled, but when his expression turned serious again, she unbuckled her seatbelt and leaned closer. Pecking his cheek, she apologized, "I am sorry. I promise it won’t happen again."

Azrael heaved a small sigh. He didn’t respond and started the car instead, making Rivana even more anxious. She thought about their past, remembering how hard it had always been to tame him whenever he was angry. In their childhood, he would give her the cold treatment for at least two days and wouldn’t forgive her until she cried, begged, and clung to his leg. As he sped through the rainy streets, she clutched her seatbelt tightly.

"Oh, he would definitely not go easy on me," she thought, feeling anxious throughout the drive. She kept glancing at him, trying to bring up a topic to talk about, but Azrael was silent, his poker face worrying her even more. She swore never to put her phone on silent again, even if it was during a very important meeting.

The entire hour-long ride was filled with silence, the rain having slowed down a bit. It was still drizzling, but not as heavy anymore.

Azrael halted the car in front of the mansion stairs with a screech. He was the first to get out of the car. Rivana unbuckled the seatbelt but didn’t get down, making Azrael, who was already on the stairs, pause and turn around.

Rivana brought down the window and looked at him. The butler, who had also rushed out carrying an umbrella, looked between the couple.

Ezekiel, who had also come out, sighed in relief to see Rivana fine. He called the butler and murmured, "George, let’s go. They seem to have gotten into a fight." Callum had called and already briefed him, warning to him prepare for the worst. It was better to stay out of his nephew’s eyes so he could throw his frustration elsewhere.

George walked away reluctantly.

Azrael stared at Rivana, who was looking back at him. "Get down," he growled. "Or are you planning to go on another date with your friend?"

"No," Rivana shook her head. With a pout, she added, "I am waiting for my husband to come and pick me up."

Azrael, drenched in the rain, sighed in frustration. He turned around and walked to her, bringing a smile to her face. Opening the door, he picked her up in princess style.

Rivana wrapped her arms around his neck. Looking up at him, she added, "I won’t get down until you forgive me."

Azrael glanced down at her. He walked into the mansion, carrying her upstairs to their room.

On the way, Rivana looked up at him and murmured, "I was wrong. Please forgive me."

Azrael didn’t reply and carried her to the room. He pushed open the door and, walking inside, kicked it shut. He carried her to the bed.

Azrael stopped at the edge of the bed, glancing down at her. He then plopped her on the bed, making her yelp in shock.

Rivana looked at him in shock, crawling back and leaning against the headrest. She gulped as Azrael’s expression changed into something darker, his eyes glinting with mischief.

Azrael loosened his tie and murmured, "It’s time for punishment so you don’t repeat it."
