Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 64: In Danger Again
Meanwhile, at Dynar Company, the atmosphere in the meeting room was thick with tension. Everyone held their breaths as their boss checked their revised presentation. Sweat trickled down their foreheads, and they flinched whenever his brows creased into a thin line.
They had been happy and peaceful working in the subbranch of the world’s biggest automobile company, but ever since their devil boss started working from there, it had become a living hell for them.
"Come on! Stop finding mistakes!" Ezekiel growled over the video conference, having grown tired of Azrael’s obsession with perfection. Even though he had completely handed over the responsibilities, his annoying nephew still troubled him whenever he felt like it, and he was already getting a headache from this meeting running for almost a day now.
"They need to put even the smallest expense in the report," Azrael replied simply. He glanced at the other people in the video conference, who were joined from the main branch in Draxton. They gulped, realizing he was indirectly pointing out that they were getting lazy now that he wasn’t present to supervise every day.
Azrael went through the last page, making many sigh in relief.
"There will be heavy rainfall later," Callum grumbled from behind. "Let them go," he added, and the workers showed heart signs to him. Callum was their angel assistant for sure.
"I have marked a few mistakes," Azrael placed down the file and pushed it forward. "You can rectify them tomorrow," he said, making everyone release their breaths.
Callum gestured for them to escape before Azrael changed his mind. He moved forward and disconnected from the team in Draxton, wishing them good night even though the sun had just risen for them. Then, he moved back as Ezekiel finished his rant in front of his nephew.
"Seriously, do you have to involve me every damn month?" Ezekiel groaned out loud. He had thought he would finally be able to relax this month from financial meetings since they weren’t in Draxton, but Azrael had forced him to attend virtually. And if he didn’t, Azrael stubbornly refused to start the meeting, making the workers beg Ezekiel to join.
Azrael took off his glasses. Ignoring his complaint, he asked, "Is she home yet?"
"No," Ezekiel replied with a pout. His earlier frustration washed away, and he complained, "I have been waiting for her, but she seems to be caught up too."
Azrael asked for his phone from Callum as Ezekiel continued, "Poor girl. She was barely getting rest handling her company, and now she’s dumped with handling a bigger corporation."
Azrael’s face, which had been stoic and emotionless until now, broke into a smile as he looked at her messages. Ezekiel huffed, realizing he was being ignored again, and disconnected the call. Callum leaned in to see what had changed his mood.
"Oh, she wants to go on a date," Callum murmured aloud. He quickly straightened up and moved back at Azrael’s glare.
Azrael looked at her texts again and smiled.
*Let’s have dinner together.*
He called her, but when there was no response even after three attempts, he looked at Callum and ordered, "Call her bodyguard."
Callum nodded and took out his phone to dial Ashley. A frown tugged at his lips as the call was unreachable and went into voicemail. He tried a few more times, but when there was no response, he worriedly looked at Azrael.
"Ash isn’t picking up either," he murmured.
Azrael’s expression darkened, and fear flickered in his eyes. He dialed Rivana’s number again, and when there was no response, he grew increasingly worried.
The sky outside suddenly roared to life. Lightning struck, and dark clouds loomed, casting an ominous shadow over the city. The rain poured down heavily, drumming against the windows.
"I will call her friend," Callum murmured and quickly dialed Leonora’s number. After a few attempts, she finally picked up.
"Where’s Rivana?" Callum asked urgently.
"Ah, it’s you!" Leonora grumbled from the other end. She had ignored the calls, thinking it was someone trying to poach her again. When Callum groaned, she replied, "She left like an hour ago. She must be home by now."
Azrael and Callum glanced at each other.
"Why? What’s-" Callum cut the call midway, not letting Leonora finish.
Azrael got up from his chair, picked up his coat, and stormed out of the meeting room.
"Call the one following them," Azrael murmured, but Callum’s hesitation made him frown.
"It’s..." Clearing his throat, Callum replied, "We were short on men, and all got occupied in searching for clues for Gale’s boss... And the remaining to find more about Emmerich’s death."
Azrael’s expression turned fierce, his demeanor resembling a devil’s. As they walked out, he asked Callum, "Ask them to track her phone."
Callum immediately dialed Dawn and reported the situation. He glanced at Azrael as they stepped into the lift. He just hoped Rivana was safe, or this man wouldn’t let any one of them live.
As they stepped outside, the rain poured down heavily, and the streets were slick with water. The storm had come out of nowhere, and the sky was now a dark, angry gray. Azrael’s heart pounded in his chest as he slid into the backseat of the waiting car. Callum quickly followed, dialing Dawn once more for updates.
"The storm is causing some disruptions," Dawn’s voice crackled through the speaker.
"Make it fast," Azrael growled, his worry evident in his tone. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong.
Callum nodded and ended the call, his fingers tapping anxiously against his thigh. The driver navigated through the rain-soaked streets, the windshield wipers working overtime to clear the view.
Minutes felt like hours as they waited for an update. The tension in the car was palpable, and Azrael’s mind raced with worst-case scenarios. He couldn’t lose her again. Not now. Not ever.
Finally, Dawn’s voice came through the speaker again. "We got her signal but it might take a few more minutes."
Azrael’s jaw clenched. "Keep me updated on its movement."
The car sped down the highway, the storm showing no signs of letting up. The rain hammered down, making visibility difficult. Azrael’s fury heightened with each passing moment, and Callum knew he’d be dead even before they found Rivana.
