Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 52: Testamentary Will
Back in the hospital ward, Azrael frowned at the doctor’s explanation. If Emmerich was sick, he was sure that man would have gone to the best hospital in the world to save his life. He wouldn’t stop even if he had to find a heart donor for himself—that was his personality. But he gave up without trying? Or was there no way to save him?
Azrael came out of his thoughts when Rivana’s grip loosened around his hand. He saw her losing her balance and quickly supported her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.
Rivana closed her eyes and tried to compose herself. Tears threatened to break free, but she stopped them. There was no one else in the room in a state to prepare for his farewell, and she decided to take that step.
"Arrange whatever is necessary for the funeral," Rivana ordered the doctor. It was still hard to accept whatever he just said to her, but she had known him for decades. And if there was one person who could never play with Emmerich, it was this loyal doctor.
Hearing her voice, Amerie paused and sat up. She turned around, and just the sight of Rivana broke her into tears again. Rushing over to her, she shook Rivana by her shoulders and shouted, "This is all because of you!" she cried out loud. "He was stressed ever since your marriage. You kept getting on his nerves, and look what happened, Rivana!"
Azrael tried to push back his mother-in-law, but Rivana stopped him. She shook her head slightly, making him grit his teeth and take a step back.
"He died because of you!" Amerie continued to wail, her cries making everyone in the room sad. Falling onto her knees, she held onto Rivana’s hand and screamed, "Get my husband back! Get my Emmerich back!"
"Stop blaming her!" Gianna, who was usually silent, broke out. Tears spilled out of her eyes. Glaring at Amerie, she continued, "It was all because of you. You ruined our family, our happiness, and everything, Amerie."
Ever since Amerie stepped into his life, she had hated Emmerich to the point that they stopped talking to each other. If only she had paid attention to his health, at least she would have supported him in his last few days instead of always ending up in heated arguments.
Amerie turned around and glared at Gianna. Getting up, she stormed toward the annoying woman and retorted back, "Because of me?"
Scoffing out loud, she continued, "You were the one constantly blaming him. You pushed him every day to make a decision. To make your son the next heir!"
"Rafaelo is his firstborn, Amerie! He had all the rights to be the next CEO," Gianna shouted back. Turning to Rubina and then Rivana, she continued, "One is blind, and the other decided to separate from us. Who else can he trust his company with aside from my son?"
"But he is useless, and you know that too!" Amerie complained, glaring at Rafaelo. "He caused so many losses already, and you still pressured him to make a decision quickly."
The doctors glanced at each other, feeling the atmosphere change in the room. It was sad how these two women were fighting when the man was dead and needed to be bid off in peace.
"But he is better than—" 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Enough!" Rivana shouted, her voice echoing in the room. Gianna stared at her, and even Amerie didn’t expect her to take her side. Rafaelo, who had been silent until now, stared at his sister, while Rubina continued to mourn her father.
Closing her eyes, Rivana ran a hand through her hair. Glaring at the two women, she scolded, "All you both did was fight when he was alive, and even now..." she breathed out loud in frustration.
"Let’s give him a peaceful farewell," Rivana declared, shutting up both women, who reluctantly fell silent.
The doctor then introduced the manager from the funeral management. Rivana discussed with him for a few minutes, mainly highlighting the important things to keep in mind. The doctor was shocked at how she knew so many things about Emmerich—from little littles of his flower preferences, and fragrances he liked to even the way he wished to be laid beside his mother.
Dr. Richard doubted if anyone else had clues of it and glanced at the equally perplexed women. While they only cared about what they could get from him, Rivana seemed to genuinely care about him. Too bad, Emmerich never loved her like his own daughter.
"Yes, thank you." Rivana nodded with a sigh. She glanced at Azrael who nodded, assuring her that she was doing the right thing.
As Emmerich’s body was moved out of the room, the lawyer and Emmerich’s assistant stepped in.
"We need to hold a press conference," Griffin, the assistant, spoke in a sad voice. "The media is going frenzy and making absurd theories."
Gianna nodded and looked at Rafaelo. "I will prepare Rafaelo for it," she said with a sigh.
But the lawyer shook his head. "I am sorry, Mrs. Faye. But it would be appropriate if his legatee does it."
Gianna frowned in confusion. "He is the heir, Mathew," she tried to correct, but the lawyer shook his head again. Even Amerie was confused by his words, while Azrael and Rivana glanced at each other.
Taking out a paper from the file, Mathew stepped forward and presented it. "In his testamentary will, Mr. Faye had declared that, following his death, his daughter would inherit Faye Groups and all shares of its affiliates."
Gianna’s face paled in shock while Amerie’s beamed in joy. Wiping her tears, she walked to Rubina’s side and murmured, "See. Your dad loved you, Ruby. He trusted you were the fit one."
"I am sorry you are misunderstanding, Miss Amerie," Mathew spoke again, confusing everyone even more.
"What do you mean? You just said he wanted his daughter to take his seat," Amerie murmured, her brows creased in confusion.
"Yes," Mathew nodded in agreement. But to everyone’s surprise, he turned to Rivana. Passing the sealed will, he declared, "He wanted his daughter, Rivana Faye, to take over his position."
