Stolen By My Billionaire Brother-In-Law-Chapter 50: He Is Dead
Azrael waited in the kitchen for his dear wife to show up. He had already dismissed all the workers, leaving just the two of them to enjoy the dinner freely.
After a few minutes, Rivana finally appeared, but her expression confused him. Did she regret it? That was the first question that came to his mind, making his heart race with different theories.
"What’s wrong?" Azrael asked, his voice loud but tinged with tension.
Rivana looked up at him and shook her head. "I just feel sleepy," she lied with a small smile.
But Azrael could sense it was more than that. He opened his arms and murmured, "Come here."
Rivana chuckled softly, seeing how his hands were covered in flour. But still, she walked closer and melted into his embrace. A sigh left her as he wrapped his arms tightly around her, trying to squeeze away all her worries.
Azrael sighed inwardly when she didn’t hesitate to hug him. Something else was bothering her, and he decided to distract her, understanding she was not yet ready to share with him.
"I can do more than just a hug to wake you up," Azrael teased, his voice low and husky.
Rivana hit his chest in response, her cheeks warming. Breaking the hug, she commanded, "All you need to do right now is finish your cooking soon!"
Azrael broke into a smile. "Yes, milady," he murmured, turning back to the counter.
Rivana stood beside him, her attention shifting to his cooking. She noticed he was preparing more than one dish, and excitement bubbled within her.
"Do you need any help?" she asked, rolling up her sleeves.
"Can you marinate and put the steak in the oven?" Azrael asked, eyeing the bowl with the steak. Though all he wanted was for her to sit and wait, cooking might distract her well, so he assigned a few tasks for her.
Rivana nodded in glee. One of her silly teenage dreams had always been to cook together with her husband. No matter how busy their schedules were, she wanted them to take some time a week and make dinner together. But Viktor never cared to step inside the kitchen in their two years of marriage. He never appreciated her efforts and always had something to criticize whenever she made something special for him. Those memories made Rivana sigh, putting more chili pepper than necessary on the steak. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Are you done?" Azrael’s voice brought Rivana out of her thoughts. She nodded and quickly set the steak to cook in the oven.
They finished cooking together in an hour, filled with laughter, banter, and light teasing. Rivana waited at the dining table patiently as Azrael brought the steak, and their main dish, and arranged everything on the table.
The dishes included a perfectly grilled steak, a fresh garden salad with a tangy vinaigrette, creamy mashed potatoes with herbs, and a hearty mushroom risotto.
Rivana happily cut the steak and served Azrael first. "Tell me how it is," she asked with a smile. This was the first dish she had made for him, and she hoped he liked it.
Azrael took the fork and knife. He cut the steak into a smaller piece and tasted it. His smile faltered as the spice level hit him hard, almost giving him a brain freeze.
"How is it?" Rivana asked, clasping her hands tightly.
Azrael chewed the piece and nodded. "It’s good," he said with a smile.
Rivana beamed and proudly replied, "See! I told you I am a good cook."
"You should try my dishes. You’ll understand I am a better cook," Azrael added, gulping the bite. If she ate it, he was sure she would cry out as she barely tolerated spice.
Rivana nodded and excitedly smiled as he served her. Picking up her fork, she tasted the mushroom risotto and nodded in approval. She gave him a thumbs up, unable to speak as the food was so good she wanted to finish everything.
Azrael hid his struggle behind a smile, seeing her enjoy the dinner. He kept drinking water in between, and Rivana noticed how even his eyes had turned watery as he finished the last bite on his plate.
"Wait, is something wrong?" she asked worriedly. When Azrael shook his head, she grew even more suspicious. Cutting a piece from the steak, she quickly tasted it, ignoring his attempts to stop her.
"Oh, fuck!" She cursed as soon as the spices melted in her mouth.
Azrael took out a tissue and placed it in front of her mouth. With a sigh, he demanded, "Spit it."
Rivana looked at him, embarrassed and cursing herself for such a dumb mistake. When she hesitated, Azrael placed a hand on her head and gently forced her to spit out the bite.
Throwing it away, he took a glass of water and passed it to her. Rivana blew out from her mouth before gulping down the water, feeling the heat still lingering. Glaring at Azrael, she grumbled, "You should have told the truth. Why did you torture yourself by eating it?"
Azrael smiled in response. Wiping the water droplets on her lip, he replied, "It was the first time you made something for me. How could I not finish it?"
Rivana’s heart fluttered at his words. "Idiot," she still grumbled, causing her husband to pinch her cheek lightly.
"Wait here," Rivana murmured and quickly rushed to the kitchen. Opening the freezer, she took out a tub of ice cream and hurried back. Opening the lid, she took out a spoon and passed it to him.
"Eat it," she commanded.
Azrael followed and took a scoop of the ice cream. As the sweetness melted in his mouth, he heaved a sigh of relief. Rivana, still feeling the spice, took a spoon and dug into the ice cream treat.
"Will you eat even burnt food just because I cooked it?" Rivana asked, still angry at herself and him.
"Of course!" Azrael replied without hesitation. "I can eat anything as long as it’s made by you," he added, his smirk making Rivana shake her head.
"You are really good with words, Mr. Dynar. I wonder how many women you have seduced with this trick before," Rivana joked, licking her ice cream.
Azrael smirked at her laugh, and the next moment, he pulled her chair closer, causing Rivana’s heart to skip a beat. Before she could catch her breath, he kissed her, tasting the sweet chocolate staining her lips.
Pulling back slightly, Azrael smiled, enjoying her reaction. Tracing her lower lip with his thumb, he declared, "You are the first woman I have ever tried to seduce, Mrs. Dynar. And you will also be the last."
Rivana blushed hard at his comment, but the sincerity in his eyes moved her. Her will to spend the rest of her life with him only seemed to increase, though it was too early in their relationship to put it that way.
Placing down the spoon, she moved closer and hugged him tightly. Azrael, though slightly surprised, placed down his spoon and wrapped his arms around her. He gently caressed her head, trying to ease whatever was bugging her mind.
Just before he could question it, they heard someone screaming Azrael’s name loudly, getting closer and closer until it stopped right before them.
"Where the heck is your phone?" Callum grumbled out loud, panting for air. "How many times do I need to call you?"
With a scowl, Azrael reluctantly broke the hug, his eyes trying to burn Callum alive. Why did he love to spoil their moments? He wondered, but unlike every other time, Callum didn’t even flinch at his glare.
Rivana scratched her nose, trying to hide her embarrassment as Callum glanced at her, asking the same question with his eyes.
"What is it?" Azrael grumbled, bringing his attention back to Callum.
Callum sighed out loud. Running a hand through his hair, he glanced at Rivana, unsure how she would react to the news. Taking out his phone, he opened an article and passed it to Azrael.
"Emmerich Faye is dead," Callum declared.
"What?" Rivana frowned in confusion, and even Azrael frowned at the news. When Callum looked quite serious, Azrael read through the article. Rivana leaned closer, her eyes slightly moistening as they skimmed the contents of the article.
Heaving a small sigh, Callum murmured, "He was confirmed dead a few hours ago."
