Chapter 26: Shoot Yourself

"You idiot!" Emmerich bellowed, his voice echoing through the room.

Rafaelo reached forward to calm down his father. "Dad, please listen to—"

Smack!

But he was cut short by a harsh slap on the cheek. Emmerich, fuming like a bull, glared at his son, making everyone gasp out loud. The force of the slap sent Rafaelo stumbling backward, his hand clutching his burning cheek while his mouth hung open in shock. His surprise quickly turned to anger as the room broke into stifled laughter, adding to his humiliation.

Rubina couldn’t help but cling to Amerie’s hand tightly in fear. She tried to look around where Rafaelo was, hoping he wouldn’t spill out that it was her idea. Realizing it was all a trap, she gritted her teeth. Her attempts to separate Viktor and Rivana had only benefited her sister. Azrael’s entry had brought nothing but luck into Rivana’s life.

"Who the heck told you to sell them?" Emmerich growled at his stupid son. Sometimes, both Rubina and Rafaelo acted so dumb that he couldn’t help but suspect if they were really his blood.

"Mom told you declared to withdraw from Shadow Inc. and stop funding her! Since it was almost on the verge of bankruptcy because of the virus attack, I thought selling would be the best choice!" Rafaelo defended himself, glaring at Emmerich.

Last night, Rubina’s manager called to inform them that someone was ready to buy at a very high price, and they sold it without thinking twice. Turning to his father, he continued, "It was someone from a different country! They are bluffing!" He glowered, glaring at Azrael and Candy on the stage.

"Oh, that was me! My real name is Zeiker Venzi," Candy murmured, raising his hand. His words aggravated Emmerich’s anger and made Rafaelo panic as his father’s face turned redder.

"Trust me, Dad! We have cross-checked everything!" He babbled, glaring at the stage. "But these fucking bastards tricked us!"

Smack!

Another harsh slap landed on Rafaelo’s face, forcing him to shut up. Rubina flinched at the sound, wondering if it was her turn next. She shivered in fear, clutching Amerie’s hand tightly.

Rafaelo ground his teeth, his face burning red in shame. Everyone barely held their laughter while the reporters made sure to capture every moment of this scandalous news. His eyes were mainly fixed on Rivana on the stage, her barely hidden joy grating his nerves. It was all because of her! And he would make sure she paid for it!

Amerie quickly moved to Emmerich’s side. Clinging to his arm, she pleaded, "Let’s talk in the house. You are creating a scene here."

Emmerich closed his eyes and heaved a long breath. His body was tense, unable to cope with the fact that he had lost in front of Rivana. His precious little lamb that should have forever been in his control. It felt like she had easily slipped out of her cage, all thanks to his son’s reckless decision.

Opening his eyes, he glared at Rafaelo again, his eyes trying to burn him alive. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed Rafaelo’s collar and dragged him out like a puppy.

Amerie glanced at Rivana on the stage, their eyes meeting for a brief moment. "You will pay for this, Rivana!" she muttered under her breath before quickly reaching out to Rubina’s side. Holding her shoulder, she escorted her out of the room.

Candy took the mic and grabbed everyone’s attention back to them again. "The shares that I have bought from the Fayes, I have transferred them to my boss’s wife." Smiling at Rivana, he added, "It’s my wedding gift."

Rivana’s heart fluttered at his words. Even Azrael broke into a small smile, satisfied and glad that Candy had learned how to address Rivana.

A picture was played on the big screen again, making everyone curious. "And as you can see, currently Rivana Dynar owns 63% of total company shares, making her fit for the position." Callum addressed, showing the certificates and chart graphs.

The shareholders were already aware of it, too, which is also why they reluctantly agreed. Rivana now had more shares than their total combined shares. No one would be able to stop her from becoming the CEO.

Isabelle, Viktor’s aunt, stormed out of the room, knowing they had lost this battle. The reporters noted down the big surprise, amused that they had come here with the only agenda of victory over Viktor. They couldn’t help but steal glances at Viktor standing dumbly in the corner, staring at the stage. He was insulted far worse than Rafaelo, and they didn’t understand why he was still here.

"Let’s continue the process," Alexander murmured with a beaming smile. Soon a few papers were brought, and Rivana couldn’t help but wonder if this was all a dream. She had prepared for a long battle, but winning it so easily felt surreal.

Azrael pulled out the chair and asked her to sit, "Sit down." Rivana came out of her daze and sat while he stood right beside her, like a commander proud of his queen’s victory.

The cameramen rushed forward to click better pictures as Rivana signed the transfer papers. Once she was done, everyone cheered and clapped, creating a happy and joyous environment.

"Congratulations!" Callum clapped, his wide grin making Rivana smile in response. She couldn’t help but turn toward Azrael, feeling a small thank you was not enough for what he had done for her.

Azrael’s gaze softened at her glance. With a charming smile, he took out his hand and murmured, "Congratulations, Mrs. Dynar."

A blush crept onto Rivana’s cheeks at the teasing way he was addressing her. Shaking his hand, she decided to play along, "Thank you, Mr. Dynar."

The shareholders quickly walked over to Rivana and Azrael, eager to please them. One of the young men moved forward, taking out his hand for a handshake.

"Congrats, Riv! I am sure you will take the company to new heights." He beamed with a grin, taking out his hand for a handshake.

Before Rivana could respond, Azrael took the hand and nodded in response. "Thank you, Mr. Milson." His other hand slipped to Rivana’s waist, holding her close to him. Rivana’s heart raced at the touch, feeling a tinge of possessiveness in his hold.

The drinks flowed, and everyone indulged in small business talks. Rivana tried to concentrate, forcing out smiles and nods, but she couldn’t take her mind off the hand around her waist. Azrael held her closer, never letting her go.

Ashley couldn’t help but cover her mouth, unable to hold a squeal. The couple looked so charming, and there was an undeniable spark between them that conveyed they shared a bond stronger than just a convenience marriage.

Azrael greeted all the shareholders, his charm winning over the room and everyone’s hearts. Women couldn’t help but swoon over his gestures, admiring the way he supported Rivana.

Meanwhile, Viktor, who had been silent, couldn’t lose Rivana like this, not specifically to his step-brother. She was his lucky charm, and he knew somewhere she still loved him. Looking around, he saw one of the bodyguards at the door. His eyes fell on the gun vest on his waist.

Halting, he took the gun from the guard, surprising him. Raising it up in the air, he fired a shot, catching everyone’s attention.

"What the fuc?k!" Callum cursed with a deep scowl. A few guards tried to reach Viktor, but he suddenly pressed the pistol against his head, forcing them to step back.

Azrael’s grip on Rivana’s waist tightened, his fingers digging into her blazer. His eyes darkened as he realized what Viktor was trying to do, his jaw clenching tightly in frustration.

"What are you doing, Viktor?" Alexander, who was on the other side, rushed, stopping as Viktor raised his hand to stop him.

Rivana’s heart thudded against her chest. All her joy vanished at Viktor’s stunt, filling her with bitterness. Fear and frustration coursed through her as she watched Viktor’s desperate act.

"I know I was at fault, and I am really sorry about it, Riv." Viktor started, his eyes fixing on Rivana. When she looked at him, he continued, "Please give me a chance to correct my mistakes. I promise to never cheat on you again."

"Divorce him and come back to me, Riv. You clearly know he is only using you. You are just another toy he would toss away once bored, unlike me who loves you."

Everyone gasped and tensed around, the media quick to take their cameras and click pictures of the scene. Many turned to Rivana, hoping she would calm the overwhelmed Viktor. After all, they were childhood sweethearts, and she would be moved.

Rivana scoffed at his words, her reaction worrying Viktor. Why wasn’t she falling for it? Rivana always did! She would forgive him easily as long as he apologized and proved he still loved her!

"And what if I don’t want to divorce him?" she asked, surprising everyone.

Viktor’s mouth slightly opened, a gasp leaving his lips. He quickly glared at Azrael, thinking he had fully manipulated his darling Riv. But he knew she would run to him if he continued to threaten her.

"If you don’t divorce him, I will shoot myself," Viktor declared.

Everyone gasped around, murmurs and glances exchanged. Viktor seemed all serious, and even Candy cursed under his breath. Just before Azrael could step forward and beat the shit out of this dumbass, Rivana chuckled out loud, her laugh filling the room.

Crossing her arms, Rivana stared blankly at him and replied, "Go ahead. Shoot yourself, Viktor."
