Sticking to Mr.Chairman in This Life-Chapter 997: What on Earth Is Going On?
"Is it hollow?"
The echo from the floor wasn’t very distinct, but Su Ge was still sure that there was another layer below.
Out of curiosity, she immediately stood up and looked around, trying to find an entrance to go down.
Her gaze finally fell on a slightly ajar door.
She slowly walked over, gently twisted the doorknob, and inside it looked like a utility room, filled with a jumble of medical equipment.
Feeling it wasn’t the place, Su Ge was about to close the door when her eyes suddenly fell on a vintage clock on the wall.
The items in the utility room were all covered with dust, yet this vintage clock was very clean.
Although it wasn’t spotless, compared to other things, it was much cleaner.
Could there be something wrong with it?
Su Ge carefully walked over and cautiously reached out to try to take the clock down for a look.
Unexpectedly, it seemed to be nailed to the wall; she pulled it a few times but couldn’t take it down.
However, it seemed like she had pulled the clock away from the wall a bit.
Worried about damaging the property, Su Ge was just about to push the clock back when suddenly there was a loud "boom" in the utility room.
Su Ge was startled and froze in place.
She sheepishly turned her gaze, only to see a bare patch in the utility room miraculously open up, revealing a huge hole.
Su Ge looked in shock at the clock in her hand.
It was actually a switch.
Human curiosity is boundless, and Su Ge slowly walked towards the large hole. Only upon closer inspection did she realize it was a hidden staircase.
The staircase led straight down, and there was light below, but since the lights were dim, it was hard to see what was at the bottom.
Eventually, Su Ge couldn’t resist her curiosity. She glanced at the slightly open door and slowly stepped onto the staircase, descending step by step.
Her whole body soon disappeared into the hole.
She quickly reached the ground.
Though the lights were dim, they were barely enough to see the path.
Driven by curiosity, Su Ge proceeded step by step.
Not long after, a scream echoed from below.
Under the dim light, Su Ge was so frightened that she curled up on the ground, trembling.
After shivering for a few minutes, she mustered the courage to lift her head and slowly looked around.
One by one, huge containers were neatly arranged under the light, filled with water, and inside... each contained a person.
It wasn’t a gory scene of dismembered bodies like in horror movies. Each person was intact, wearing identical clothing, and appearing to sleep with eyes closed, immersed in water.
"What’s... what on earth is going on?"
Su Ge stood up with a slight tremor. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Who were these people, and why were they stored here?
Not knowing where she gained the courage, Su Ge slowly approached one of the containers.
There indeed were several lines of writing on it.
They didn’t record the identities of these people but seemed to note a kind of viral infection.
Were all these people virus carriers?
With the buoyancy of the water, the people inside the containers kept changing positions.
When the person in the container in front of her suddenly turned their head, Su Ge was so frightened she stumbled back several steps.
This retreat inadvertently caused her to bump into another container behind her.
She looked up to meet another ghastly pale face.
Su Ge’s last psychological defense was about to be breached, and she planned to turn and run out immediately.
