Chapter 1776: Chapter 1776: Their Blissful Times 8

Unlike the brief kiss earlier, this one left Ding Jinshi breathless and immersed.

"Don’t worry, once I get through this busy period, it should be fine, and I won’t be busy anymore. I’ll stay by your side," Ding Long spoke sincerely as he lowered his head to touch Ding Jinshi’s belly. To be honest, he was really a bit worried, as the risks of giving birth to twins were greater than a single baby.

Ding Long was genuinely busy. After breakfast, Ding Jinshi didn’t delay him; she headed home with the driver. At noon, Ding Long returned home on time to have lunch with Ding Jinshi and took a short nap before taking her to the hospital. When the doctor said the two babies inside were very healthy, only then did Ding Long feel relieved. As he had to rush, he asked the driver to take Ding Jinshi directly home, while he headed to the airport with his luggage to meet with his team.

In the car, watching Ding Long’s hurried figure leaving, Ding Jinshi sighed, gently touched her belly, and said, "Baby, your dad is off to earn money for your milk powder and diapers!"

By dinner time, Ding Jinshi was back home. Aunty Xi happened to serve the last dish on the table — all dishes that Ding Jinshi liked.

"Where’s Baobei?" Not seeing her daughter upon entering, Ding Jinshi asked.

"Miss was taken by her maternal grandparents. Mr. Ding knows that Mr. Long is on a business trip lately, and he’s worried that Miss will fuss and you won’t be able to handle it, so they said they’ll bring her back once Mr. Long returns from the business trip," Aunty Xi replied.

"That’s also fine." Ding Jinshi nodded. Ding Baobei would have company at her grandparents’, and her father would also teach the child.

For dinner, it was just Ding Jinshi and Aunty Xi. Normally, in such cases, just two dishes would suffice, but Ding Long didn’t agree. He insisted that even if it’s just Ding Jinshi and Aunty Xi having meals at home every day, Aunty Xi must prepare a full table of dishes. Ding Jinshi had a fondness for food, and having good dishes on the table meant she might eat more.

After dinner, Ding Jinshi sat in the living room watching TV while Aunty Xi cleaned up the kitchen. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. Aunty Xi came out from the kitchen, saying, "Coming! Coming!" as she ran all the way to the door. Upon seeing the people standing outside, she was stunned.

"Where are Ding Jinshi and Ding Long?" Mother Ding’s expression turned sour as she saw the nanny opening the door. She pushed past Aunty Xi and entered with her husband following.

Hearing the noise, Ding Jinshi got up and looked outside, stunned for a moment. "Mom, Dad, why have you come?" she asked.

"Ha, I hardly deserve that title of mom, do I? Ever since Ding Long married you, he hasn’t been home!" Mother Ding remarked sharply at Ding Jinshi, then her gaze fell on Ding Jinshi’s belly. As expected, it was as others had said — pointed and sharp — her face turned black.

Ding Jinshi rolled her eyes inwardly, knowing that Ding Long hadn’t been coming home since she was studying abroad. What did that have to do with her?

"I heard you and Ding Long went to the hospital for a check-up this afternoon. It’s over eight months now; you should be able to tell the gender of the babies. Did you ask the doctor this afternoon? Have you confirmed if it’s boys or girls inside?" Without waiting for Ding Jinshi to answer, Mother Ding continued, "I see your belly is not promising — so big yet pointed. It’s likely another couple of little girls! Ding Jinshi, I’m telling you, you’ve already given birth to a daughter; this time, you must have a son!"

"We went to the hospital this afternoon, but we didn’t ask the doctor. Ding Long said it doesn’t matter whether it’s a boy or a girl; they’re both our children. Whether it’s a boy or a girl, it’s up to fate. Whether heaven grants us girls or boys, they are all treasures of the family." Ding Jinshi’s tone had already turned somewhat stiff.
