"Sir had an urgent matter at the company this morning. He said he’ll be back by noon to have lunch with you and go to the hospital for a prenatal check-up, and he has a flight to R Country in the evening for a business trip." This was all Ding Long told Aunt Xi before leaving, knowing Ding Jinshi would ask about his whereabouts and preferred to share his schedule for the next few days.

"Oh." Ding Jinshi nodded and asked, "Did he have breakfast before he left?"

"No, sir left in a hurry, apparently there was an urgent matter at the company he needed to handle," Aunt Xi shook her head.

Ding Jinshi sighed. To be honest, seeing Ding Long so busy made her feel a bit heartbroken.

Ever since her pregnancy, Ding Long had been providing her with the best food and care, no matter how busy he was, he would always make time to pamper her. Yet he was juggling work during the day and taking care of her at home, resulting in her gaining weight while he grew thinner.

As her pregnancy advanced, Ding Jinshi didn’t sleep well at night, so any movement from Ding Long beside her was noticeable. She knew that although he came home on time every day recently, he often went to the study to work overtime after coaxing her to sleep, sometimes working through the night.

Ding Jinshi recalled that even last night, she noticed the dark circles under Ding Long’s eyes.

"Aunt Xi, please ask the driver to get ready. I’ll have breakfast and then take some to him at the company," Ding Jinshi said, "He loves the food you make the most."

Aunt Xi chuckled, "Sir isn’t picky. It’s not that he likes my cooking; it’s because you like it, so he follows suit. I’ve long noticed that sir follows madam’s lead. What madam likes, sir likes too, and what madam dislikes, sir dislikes as well."

"Really? I always thought we were just naturally in sync," Ding Jinshi laughed softly, inspired, "Why don’t I make breakfast for him myself today?"

Despite being married for so long, Ding Jinshi had never genuinely cooked for Ding Long.

Before her marriage, she wasn’t notably skilled in cooking, but over the years, she occasionally cooked while taking care of her daughter. Though her cooking wasn’t exactly expert-level, she could at least tell the difference between oil, salt, sugar, and vinegar.

"That sounds great! Sir will surely be happy!" Aunt Xi nodded repeatedly. Seeing how well her employers got along thrilled her more than anything. She quickly added, "First you eat, then we’ll plan what you’ll cook for sir."

Ding Jinshi was the type to always see things through once she set her mind to them.

While eating, she discussed various breakfast recipes with Aunt Xi. However, after hearing so many options, she became a little overwhelmed and decided, "I remember we have some leftover dumplings from the other day. I’ll just cook some dumplings to take to him!"

Aunt Xi was momentarily stunned by this, then realized that Ding Jinshi still lacked a knack for cooking. Fearing that anything too complicated might be inedible, she wisely chose dumplings—simple for her and guaranteed to be consumed by Ding Long.
