Star Odyssey-Chapter 3669: Receiving
Chapter 3669: Receiving
The only thing that Old Yu could blame at this point was the fact that Yue Ya’s earlier attempts had been too clumsy. Lu Yin had allied himself with Yong Heng and seen through the Lesser Sancte’s attempts, and he had grown much more cautious. If not for that, Lu Yin would feel no wariness regarding the Northmount Domain.
The sight of the Northmount Domain, with its entirely ordinary appearance, sent chills down Old Yu’s spine. He was forced to enter the domain.
Suddenly, a tremendous force struck the old man from behind, pushing him and violently hurling him into the Northmount Domain. Lu Yin had acted against Old Yu, and at the same time, red lanterns drifted around Yong Heng. They broke, which shoved Ru Guo into the Northmount Domain as well.
This was the result of a tacit agreement between Lu Yin and Yong Heng. The two had acted simultaneously, pushing the two other men into the Northmount Domain.
There was no way Lu Yin would ever enter the Northmount Domain. He already knew that it was a trap, so what was the best way to test a trap?
Both Yue Ya and Xing Fan were experts at the same level as the High Seraph, with all of them being Lesser Sancti. Lu Yin was not yet confident that he could deal with such opponents on his own, especially with someone as formidable as Yong Heng standing nearby.
All he needed to do was push Old Yu into the trap and test things out.
Lu Yin refused to be deceived by the Northmount Domain’s apparent tranquility. If he entered, everything would change. He had no idea if he was the sole target of this trap or if Old Yu could enter without being harmed, but it was worth testing.
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse could not easily influence the Spirit Nidus, which made Lu Yin confident that the trap could not be freely manipulated.
On top of that, Lu Yin had already watched and noticed that the people within the Northmount Domain were unable to leave.
That was proof that the Northmount Domain had changed.
As for cooperating with Yong Heng, the man had done exactly what Lu Yin had expected. There had been no discussion, and yet they had acted in unison; one testing the trap with Old Yu and the other with Ru Guo.
Old Yu was thrown into the Northmount Domain.
He was startled, and his cultivation flared as he tried to break free from the power that had suddenly overwhelmed him, but at that moment, the Northmount Domain trembled. All seventeen mountains shuddered as one as spirit threads appeared from each of the peaks. They shot upwards before falling out of the sky. Seventeen groups of spirit threads merged together and then shot out, stabbing at Old Yu.
Ru Guo had also been pushed towards the Northmount Domain by Yong Heng, but Ru Guo was not as weak as Old Yu. The man resisted both the Natural Art and Yong Heng’s power, managing to twist about and alter course. He managed to swerve to the side and avoid actually entering the Northmount Domain.
Spirit threads fell from the sky and pierced through Old Yu’s body. Excruciating pain erupted, turning his face deathly pale. He was horrified to see his body being impaled by spirit threads. He tried to break free, but he could not tear himself away. The spirit threads ensnared Old Yu like fishhooks, and he was dragged into the starry sky.
Old Yu screamed, “No! It’s not me! You’re wrong!”
The spirit threads shone brilliantly high in the sky. For a brief moment, all of the Spirit Nidus’s thirty-six domains trembled and the “灵” character formed from their connections subtly quivered. The very next instant, the spirit threads disappeared from Old Yu’s body, and as they left, there was a flash. Blood spattered across the sky as the old man’s body was torn to pieces. He exploded above the Northmount Domain’s seventeen peaks, to the shock of countless cultivators scattered across the mountains.
Even Ling Feng was startled. He had recognized Old Yu; the ruler of the Wisdom Domain was one of the supreme figures of the Spirit Nidus. Despite that, the old man had died in an instant.
He had been killed by the spirit threads. Just what had that group from the Heavencraft Domain done?
What had happened with the Northmount Domain’s seventeen peaks?
The seventeen clusters of spirit threads then dispersed and returned to the seventeen peaks. From each mountain, spirit seeds floated away from countless cultivators, drifting into the sky as the cultivators died en masse.
Ling Feng saw his people collapsing, and his eyes turned completely bloodshot. “This is unacceptable! Unacceptable! How can this be?”
He shot into the sky, determined to stop whatever was happening, but when a spirit thread swept past him, Ling Feng’s own spirit seed separated from him. It drifted up and merged with the passing spirit thread.
The seventeen clusters of spirit threads behaved like seventeen monsters, and they annihilated the Northmount Domain in an instant.
Beyond the domain’s border, Yong Heng and Ru Guo stared on in shock. This was the first time that either man had seen a cultivator die by losing their spirit seed. While Lu Yin had seen such a sight several times before, he still felt chilled by the sight.
This was not just one or two cultivators dying, but an entire domain of cultivators. Every last one of them had died in an instant.
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse clearly did not regard the cultivators of the Spirit Nidus as human.
As all of the cultivators in the Northmount Domain died, their spirit seeds were absorbed by the spirit threads. Each of the seventeen clusters of spirit threads danced about, merging as they had before. They spun about before suddenly stabbing at the three people who stood outside of the Northmount Domain’s border.
The spirit threads were being controlled by someone, likely Xing Fan or Yue Ya.
Lu Yin pointed a finger. Wielder-realm battle force struck a spirit thread, instantly breaking it. Another thread stabbed at him from another direction, but a casual wave of his hand cut that one down as well.
No matter how tough these spirit threads might have become, they could never harm Lu Yin.
Ru Guo and Yong Heng also easily severed the spirit threads that shot towards them.
If the person behind Ru Guo believed that the three men could be defeated by nothing more than spirit threads, it would be a joke.
Even if Lesser Sancte Yue Ya took action in person, he might not have the strength to deal with Lu Yin, Yong Heng, and Ru Guo.
Ru Guo no longer cared about the fact that Yong Heng had attacked him earlier. All the man wanted to do right now was to get away. He had no connection to this trap.
Right at that moment, the seventeen mountains trembled. The only people still alive in the Northmount Domain were ordinary humans, and they trembled as they watched their universe rip itself apart.
The seventeen mountains started to move together, merging by stacking atop each other. They moved as though alive, completely shattering the Northmount Domain to the accompaniment of piercing wails and cries of despair that rang in Lu Yin’s ears.
Even if the Spirit Nidus was Lu Yin’s enemy, such ordinary humans had nothing to do with them.
He stepped forward and dropped down onto the fifteenth peak, pressing it back down.
More spirit threads shot into the sky. There were not just seventeen clusters of threads; countless numbers danced about. The Heavencraft Domain had buried far too many threads in the Northmount Domain. While these new spirit threads were not as strong as the ones that had first appeared, their sheer numbers made them nearly as formidable.
Ru Guo retreated far away before looking back. What he saw was monstrous. The entire Northmount Domain was covered with dancing spirit threads. It was terrifying and intimidating.
The seventeen mountains moved to completely stack on top of each other, gathering all of the spirit threads together. Most of them merged into a fishing rod, while the ones that had absorbed the spirit seeds were the line. It dangled down and stabbed at Lu Yin, attempting to hook him and drag him away.
Lu Yin looked up, his eyes turning cold. What an impressive trap; the entire Northmount Domain had been used to create a massive fishing rod that would drag Lu Yin up from the Spirit Nidus and into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. To accomplish this, there had been no hesitation to sacrifice the lives of an entire domain. Truly, it was a bold and ruthless move.
This moment fully revealed the ruthlessness of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse to Lu Yin.
Long ago, when the people of the Spirit Nidus had simply disregarded those of the Tianyuan Megaverse due to their desire to reset the megaverse, Lu Yin had been filled with hostility and disgust. The current behavior of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse was causing that same loathing to rise once again.
The spirit threads that formed the fishing line continued downward, moving to stab him.
A voice rang out from above the sky. “The Nine Odysseys Megaverse is summoning you, so why do you resist?”
Lu Yin looked upwards. “Are you Xing Fan or Yue Ya?”
“That does not matter. The Nine Odysseys Megaverse summons you. This is an opportunity greater than any destiny. Come with me.” As the voice rang out, another spirit thread stabbed at Lu Yin.
Lu Yin flicked his finger, repelling the thread. “If you want me to go up, then come down here yourself.”
“We are offering you a chance to be among the Lesser Sancti. If you can one day reach Immortality, you may ascend to become a Greater Sancte.”
Lu Yin sneered. “Is that supposed to be a blessing?”
“It is both a blessing and mercy.”
“What about Master Qing Cao? Is he Lesser or a Greater Sancte?”
“There is no need for you to resist, as it is also futile. Come with me.”
Suddenly, the spirit threads changed. An overwhelming power descended from the sky, passing through the threads to attack Lu Yin. This force was unlike anything that had appeared before, and it gave Lu Yin the same heart-clenching dread that he had once felt from Feng Bo and Jiu Xian.
It was the power of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
A pair of eyes could be vaguely made out above the spirit threads. They were arrogant and chillingly condescending as they looked down at the lifeforms down below, including Lu Yin.
The moment the eyes appeared, the trembling of the spirit threads throughout the thirty-six domains intensified. Lu Yin could clearly see the seven inverted funnels, along with the rectangular object that was constantly radiating karma.
This was the climax of this clash, as they were allowing Lu Yin to see the constructs of karma without needing to strike Heaven’s Blade with karma.
Additionally, the “灵” character appeared, and it began rising upward and slowly shrinking.
Lu Yin had seen this scene before on the Day of Offering. At that time, when the “灵” characters had formed a triangle, they had carried liquid up into the sky through the seven inverted funnels. At this moment, the same method was being employed against Lu Yin.
With the seventeen peaks below and the “灵” character above, an irresistible power pulled upwards. As long as the spirit thread managed to touch Lu Yin, this power could be used to “reel” him into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.
Much like a springboard, the power of the megaverse itself was being employed.
No matter how strong a cultivator might be, they could never measure up to the power of a megaverse.
Lu Yin’s only chance was to completely avoid the spirit thread.
His opponent knew this, and regardless of whether Lu Yin was facing Yue Ya or Xing Fan, they were channeling their power through the spirit threads. This could already count as a direct confrontation between them and Lu Yin.
Before this power fully manifested, it had already torn Old Yu to shreds. They were fully confident that they could hook Lu Yin.
However, regardless of whether it was fate or just bad luck on the attacker’s part, Lu Yin had no need to confront them directly. This was because he was in the Northmount Domain, and he had once Possessed a conscient there.
In order to reel Lu Yin into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse from the Spirit Nidus, the seventeen peaks in the Northmount Domain needed to be used as the rod while the “灵” character and the spirit threads served as the line. If any part was missing, the entire endeavor would fall apart.
And Lu Yin was perfectly capable of removing a single piece.
He had been standing atop the fifteenth peak, and at his feet lay the same conscient that he had once Possessed. He had just done so again, and he could see the formation arranged by the seventeen peaks. The stacked peaks were made possible by that formation.
While the formation was not a sourcebox array, for an Array Grandmaster like Lu Yin, the formation was truly simplistic.
He had already seen through the seventeen peaks’ formation, and it would be trivial for him to dismantle it. However, for the time being, Lu Yin did not want to do that. Formations could be learned or even reversed. Since the Nine Odysseys Megaverse was trying to fish him out of the Spirit Nidus, could he do the reverse?
Lu Yin moved at the speed of time with Inverse Step, evading the attacks with the spirit thread as he circled around behind the mountains before pushing against them.
The seventeen peaks instantly changed.
“Yong Heng, you can help the Nine Odysseys Megaverse deal with me, or you can help me counterattack against the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. Make your choice,” Lu Yin shouted, his voice carrying into the distance.
In the distance, Yong Heng remained motionless. Yue Ya’s primary target was Lu Yin. As long as Lu Yin was not in the Northmount Domain, it would be very difficult for the Lesser Sancte to hook him. As for Yong Heng, he would simply be forgotten.
Yue Ya and his allies were able to forget about Yong Heng, but Lu Yin could not.
He had remained vigilant to prevent Yong Heng from attacking him when a vulnerability appeared. At this moment, Lu Yin wanted to secretly counter the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and retaliate. Without Yong Heng helping him block the attacking spirit threads, Lu Yin would not be able to retaliate.
Yong Heng did not hesitate and immediately moved in front of the seventeen peaks, blocking the spirit threads. “They’re not just fishing for you, but for me too. This insult, I cannot tolerate.”
With Yong Heng blocking the spirit threads, Lu Yin swiftly moved the seventeen peaks, reversing the formation.
The Nine Odysseys Megaverse had used the seventeen peaks as the rod, with the spirit threads of the “灵” character carrying the force to Lu Yin. However, Lu Yin turned it around, using the “灵” character as the foundation, with the seventeen peaks as the pressure. But the true force behind it was him.
Lanterns floated behind him as his consciousness was released, revealing his Nine Heavens. This was the Nine Heavens Transformation.
