Star Odyssey-Chapter 3583: You Go First
Chapter 3583: You Go First
“Old man, who are you calling mediocre?” Jiu Weihu frowned. Just like them, Old Salamander was one of the Grand Mountain Lords. How could such an individual be considered mediocre?
Old Salamander chuckled. "It was just a slip of the tongue. Don't take it too seriously."
Jiu Weihu was still upset.
Yi Die asked, "How much of your lifespan remains?"
Old Salamander took a moment to consider. "About the same as you."
Yi Die instantly lost all desire to ask any further questions.
"Alright, I’m going into seclusion. I hope that everything can be resolved when I return and that there will be no need for my old bones to take action. By the way, Seraph Lu is particularly unhappy with me, and I would really prefer that he doesn’t tear me apart." With that, Old Salamander returned to his mountain. "Please take care of Little Salamander. I promise you that I will die before you, so do your best to survive."
Yi Die and Jiu Weihu stared at Old Salamander's retreating figure. While the old man had not said a great deal, they both felt an inexplicable warmth and grew a bit emotional. Old Salamander was much better to deal with than Emperor Wu.
I hope you succeed, old man.
Boundless continued to travel through outer space, moving towards the Primal Beastland in a straight line. It met no obstacle as it moved through the thirty-six domains.
One by one, beast-form Spirit Rebirths appeared throughout the Primal Beastland, and they all roared at the sky. Emperor Wu also stepped out. He took his place atop the highest peak in the Primal Beastland and waited there quietly.
More and more people arrived in the Primal Beastland, though there were also many who were unwilling to enter the domain. Beast-form Spirit Rebirths typically possessed volatile tempers. With one wrong move, a fight would break out. The domain also lacked a number of attractive resources while powerful creatures lurked about, both of which dissuaded most people away.
The regions surrounding the domain were filled with cultivators, many of whom were also beast-form Spirit Rebirths who were not part of the Primal Beastland. There was no telling just how many true experts were hidden among those who had gathered.
One day, as Old Tao stood at the bow of Boundless, he saw a distant black land floating in the distance. It was the Primal Beastland, and it was much larger than any domain he had seen before. Black mountains rose into the sky like monsters, each of the massive peaks representing a powerful expert.
Old Tao took a deep breath. "We’ve arrived at the Primal Beastland."
At this same time, atop a massive black mountain at the center of the Primal Beastland, Emperor Wu peered into the distance and saw the slowly approaching battleship. It was clearly larger than any of the Spirit Nidus’s battleship. Could it be the Tianyuan Megaverse’s battleship?
For countless years, the Spirit Nidus had looked down upon the Tianyuan Megaverse, and they had even sent Yuan Qi to destroy the Tianyuan Megaverse’s future alone.
However, there was no one at the present moment who would dare to underestimate the enemy megaverse.
Emperor Wu’s eyes grew tightly focused. They are finally here.
At that moment, earth-shattering roars erupted throughout the entire Primal Beastland. Beasts roared at the sky in an attempt to intimidate those aboard Boundless. Drums echoed across the domain, their beat causing hearts to quiver.
Lu Yin slowly moved to the bow of the ship. He was immediately followed by Chu Yi, Lu Tianyi, Wilderness God, Sovereign Dou Sheng, and several others.
When Boundless came to a stop, Lu Yin and the others looked out at the entirety of the Primal Beastland. As the humans observed the domain, countless beast-form Spirit Rebirths stared at the battleship. Eyes blazed fiercely, and there was no fear of battle.
No matter what reputation Lu Yin had built up, the Primal Beastland had no fear of him.
Directly in front of the vessel, atop the tallest black peak in the Primal Beastland, Emperor Wu stared at Boundless. A powerful aura exploded from him, spreading across the domain to press down upon everyone aboard the battleship.
Emperor Wu had never feared anyone. He was simply leery of Lu Yin's battle record, and that was the only reason why the leader of the Primal Beastland had not attacked Boundless the moment he had returned to the Spirit Nidus. He had even gone so far as to push back the date of his fight against Lu Yin until after the Day of Offering. Even so, that did not mean that Emperor Wu was afraid, but rather that he was simply suppressing his urge to act.
Had he not also been waiting for this battle?
The battle should have taken place after the Day of Offering, but it had been pushed forward because of Wu Ji’s actions.
The moment that Emperor Wu laid eyes on Boundless, a burning heat entered his gaze. It looked as though his eyes alone could burn the universe away. He had already forgotten about everything that Old Yu had said.
The moment Emperor Wu saw Lu Yin, all of his long-suppressed desire to fight erupted.
From above Boundless, Lu Yin met Emperor Wu’s eyes. Bloodlust could clearly be seen in Emperor Wu's eyes, and Lu Yin arched a brow. This was not in line with what Old Yu had said would happen. It was clear that Emperor Wu was ready to attack Lu Yin himself. Since that’s the case... Lu Yin flicked a finger. Clearly, their scheduled battle was being pushed forward.
A short distance away, Astral Anura was staring at Emperor Wu, somewhat stunned. The toad sensed an incredibly powerful aura, to the point that it felt nearly unshakable. Astral Anura had felt a similar sensation from True God and that madwoman, the Great Sovereign. Could this Emperor Wu be someone on the same level as those two?
There were plenty of powerful experts in the Spirit Nidus, and the toad felt lucky to have been born in another megaverse. He could not even imagine how badly he would have been bullied if he had been born in the Spirit Nidus.
As he thought about this, he remembered Emperor Slayer, that hateful bastard who had managed to slip away. The beast was such a coward! Despite having lived for so long, the toad had never before seen such shamelessness before. Wait? Did Boundless just move? No. He turned around and locked eyes with someone.
"Please go first and test things out," the toad was told. At the same time that these words were spoken, Astral Anura’s body hurtled through the sky, flying straight at the tallest peak and Emperor Wu, who stood at the peak.
Emperor Wu’s eyes bulged. A toad? Are they looking down on me?
Lu Yin and everyone else aboard Boundless was startled by the sudden change, and they turned to stare into the distance. Wilderness God calmly lowered his hand. He had just thrown Astral Anura off the ship.
Astral Anura took a few moments to even react. When he finally regained his senses, he was fast approaching the black peak. He could not suppress a scream, and he quickly stopped himself from moving any further. When Emperor Wu’s eyes locked onto him, Astral Anura felt a chill run down his spine. His golden skin transformed into a multi-colored hue as he stabbed his steel fork into the void to stop himself from falling.
Looking back at Boundless, he cursed, "Yellowy, you shameless beast! Didn’t you say that you’d fight first?"
Lu Yin and the others were still stunned, and they all stared at Wilderness God, who calmly replied, "You’re more suitable."
Lu Yin was left speechless. Wilderness God had asked to be the first to fight, only to pull such a stunt. He had taken advantage of Astral Anura’s inattention and thrown the toad forward. How shameless and despicable! Had Wilderness God always been like this?
Chu Yi’s face twitched. As he stared at Wilderness God, he felt like he was seeing a scene from the past replay. Long ago, when Yellowy had carried them across various parallel universes, any time they encountered a strong enemy, Yellowy had been the one to run faster than everyone else. His actions then were exactly the same as those in the present. It was that, after so many years, Chu Yi had nearly forgotten about Yellowy’s shamelessness.
Astral Anura absolutely did not want to fight Emperor Wu, so he quickly tried to escape back to the battleship.
Lu Yin turned to look at the toad with a cold glare. "Since you’re already out there, fight. You go first now."
Astral Anura was stunned. "I’m not."
Bloodlust flickered in Lu Yin's eyes. "If you want to retreat, I'll skin you alive."
If Astral Anura were to retreat at this moment, it would utterly humiliate Boundless and build momentum for the Primal Beastland. That absolutely could not be allowed to happen.
Astral Anura wanted to cry. This was far too much bullying for a toad! He had been thrown off the ship while doing nothing at all! He had simply come here to watch the show, so why did he need to fight? Why should he be the one who needed to deal with that monster waiting for them?
The toad wanted to run, but with Lu Yin's cold glare on him, Astral Anura sadly realized that there was no escape. Still, dealing with Lu Yin sounded a bit better than dealing with Emperor Wu. Wait, Lu Yin isn’t the only one on Boundless. If he comes after me, there will be no escape! I’ll have no way out. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
It was a despicable situation. The toad shot a vicious glare at Wilderness God. That shameless bastard! He’s even worse than Emperor Slayer. The toad felt that he had been too naive.
Ce Wangtian watched Astral Anura with sympathy. Poor toad. He doesn’t even know how to protect himself. Ce Wangtian kept his distance, making sure that he did not get even a bit close to the battlefield.
There were people who could not handle tests.
Atop the black peak, Emperor Wu had listened to the conversation between Astral Anura and the others aboard the ship. He sneered, and his bloodlust cooled. He finally remembered what Old Yu had said. "If you’re too scared to fight, then get lost."
Astral Anura suddenly felt depressed. He clenched his jaw as he turned to stare at Emperor Wu. He did not even realize that he had started to see Emperor Wu as someone very similar to Wilderness God. Anger welled up from the toad’s heart. "You despicable bastard!"
His steel fork spun, and his vibrant red hat melted like blood. The skulls on the necklace that appeared on his neck clattered with a chilling sound as the toad charged at Emperor Wu. "Die!"
There was a red flash that streaked through outer space, carrying a terrifying stench as it slammed into the black mountain. An unfathomable pressure fell with a deafening roar. The pressure swept across the entire Primal Beastland, kicking up a storm of blood as many beasts were sent flying.
Although Astral Anura was not particularly strong when compared to Lu Yin or the others, he was still a Dukkhan. He had once fought with people like True God and the Great Sovereign and managed to survive. When the toad became serious, it became clear that his anger was not to be underestimated. The current stench of blood was entirely different from the aura of a corpse king; instead, it was reminiscent of a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
Emperor Wu’s eyes narrowed. Despite being a beast-form Spirit Rebirth cultivator, he had used the form of a human for many years. He stood five meters tall, which made him resemble a lesser giant.
In the face of Astral Anura’s vicious attack, Emperor Wu just raised a hand and splayed his fingers to confront the toad.
Bang.
There was a deafening collision that ripped the void apart. Spatial cracks spread out in every direction. In the sky above and the earth below, the land and the stars all shattered as though they were pictures in a broken pane of stained glass.
The Primal Beastland had already been prepared for such destruction. No one moved closer to the black mountain. Beyond the domain, many cultivators were affected by the shockwaves, and some were even swallowed by the spatial cracks and perished.
The cracks spread in the direction of Boundless, but Chu Yi eliminated them all.
At this moment, everyone was staring at the central peak in shock. Many could not believe what had just happened. Astral Anura’s attack had not been weak at all. Just what was going on?
Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed.
In front of the mountain, Astral Anura’s mouth fell open. Was this a joke?
Emperor Wu was holding the toad’s steel fork in a single hand, having blocked the attack. The ruler of the Primal Beastland had not taken so much as a single step back, and not a single scratch could be seen on his hand.
"Is that all?" Emperor Wu's voice rang out.
Astral Anura stared at him blankly. "Um... can I try again?"
Emperor Wu abruptly twisted the steel fork and casually tossed it away. The overwhelming power of the movement sent Astral Anura flying.
While the toad might not be particularly powerful compared to other Dukkhans, he was still far stronger than any of the sequence powerhouses. How many of the people watching were Ortusers or Dukkhans? Only a few were even sequence powerhouses. Astral Anura’s attack had caused many to grow wary of the toad, and yet Emperor Wu had effortlessly blocked the attack. The ease with which he had done so was too exaggerated. It seemed unreal.
Emperor Wu looked back at Lu Yin. "If you’re confident in that toad, I’m very disappointed in you."
Sovereign Dou Sheng could not stop himself from stepping forward. He was ready to join the fight, only to be stopped by Lu Yin’s calm voice. "The toad’s not done yet."
Emperor Wu sneered. "It’s just a toad. Even skinning it would be disgusting."
Far away from the black mountain, Astral Anura broke free from the force that had flung him away, and he stabilized his body. Just as he prepared to escape back to Boundless, Emperor Wu's words reached his ears. The toad stared at the black mountain in a daze. All that he could hear at this moment were Emperor Wu’s words echoing in his mind.
At that moment, Astral Anura’s entire demeanor changed. The colorful patterns turned back to a golden color, and a smile spread across his broad mouth. He stared at Emperor Wu while smiling in an almost endearing way. "Guest, let’s make a friendly deal. I’ll offer you toad skin, and you..."
Suddenly, Astral Anura’s expression fell, and unprecedented hatred filled his eyes. "Give me your life!"
A copper coin was then thrown forward. It was made from Astral Anura’s sequence particles, which Lu Yin knew were called Pursuit of Survival.
All things had to survive. Survival was both an instinct and a law of the universe. When this law was used, the opponent’s mind would be consumed by the will to survive, and their actions would completely change.
This was what had happened when Mr. Daheng had fought against Luo Shan and taken out a copper coin. Luo Shan had appeared to retreat out of fear of Astral Anura, but the truth was that he had been influenced by the sequence particles.
