Chapter 155: Blaming One Another

When Fei Chuan opened the door to buy breakfast, a person sitting on the floor suddenly fell down.

Bei Sangyun was abruptly woken up. She raised her head, and her sleepy eyes met Fei Chuan’s startled face.

She stood up and yawned. "Morning. Did you already have breakfast?"

Fei Chuan looked her up and down. Bei Sangyun was wearing pajamas and floppy slippers. Her hair was messy, and there was even a trace of saliva on the corner of her mouth.

"Did you sleep in front of my door?" He asked, dumbfounded.

Bei Sangyun made a gesture with her thumb and forefinger, "....A little?"

Actually, she also did not expect she would fall asleep in front of his door until morning came.

Fei Chuan glanced at her fingertips. It was a bit red.

Before he could think, he reached out and grabbed her fingers. Bei Sangyun’s fingers were as cold as ice.

Fei Chuan frowned. The weather was getting cold as winter approached. The hallway was colder at night. She must have been waiting in front of his door for a long time.

"Wait here."

Fei Chuan entered his room again, leaving Bei Sangyun stunned.

Bei Sangyun glanced at her cold fingers and blinked. Did Fei Chuan just held her hand? On his own initiative?

That man always had that disgusted look on his face whenever she held his hand. So it took her by surprise when he grabbed her fingers.

She could still feel the warmth on her fingertips, which brought such great comfort.

This...this won’t count for the three-second rule, right?

As Bei Sangyun was in a daze, the door opened again. Fei Chuan placed a thick coat and a hand warmer in Bei Sangyun’s arms.

"Warm yourself—" As soon as he finished these words, he paused.

Fei Chuan happened to see the door behind Bei Sangyun.

Right. How could he be so foolish?

Bei Sangyun was living in front of him. She surely had a thick coat and hand warmer there. He did not need to give these to her.

"Actually, just go to your room and take a hot bath." He was about to take back the things he put on her arms when Bei Sangyun hugged his things tightly.

"You already gave them to me. Why take them back?"

She then wore the coat and held the hand warmer. "Your things are much more comfortable than mine anyway."

Fei Chuan’s coat was big. She was well-covered, and the scent of Fei Chuan’s fabric conditioner made her feel as if he was embracing her. It didn’t feel bad.

Fei Chuan glanced at her. Because he was in a hurry, he took his favorite coat—the one he used the most.

Bei Sangyun wasn’t the only who had that thought- it also crossed Fei Chuan’s mind.

His ears turned red. He looked away. For some reason, seeing her wearing his coat was too hot in his eyes.

"Let’s have breakfast together," Bei Sangyun invited him again.

Fei Chuan was about to reject, but when he remembered how long she had stayed in front of his door waiting for him, he couldn’t bring himself to say the word ’No’.

Fei Chuan angrily glared at Bei Sangyun, blaming her for being so crafty.

He didn’t answer and walked ahead. Bei Sangyun didn’t need his reply. She was going to follow him anyway, even if he said no.

But since Fei Chuan didn’t tell her to go away, it meant that he silently agreed. And that made her happy.

Bei Sangyun followed him with a smile on her face.

Ah, what a good morning.

While the two were in their own world, morning came in the Lin mansion.

Old Master Lin learned the news from Butler Yang and immediately called for a family meeting.

In the afternoon, everyone gathered in the living room. Even the Simon family was called as well.

Old Master Lin arrived together with Mr. Simon. The two old men were both in a bad mood. They seemed to have had a heated argument earlier. Mr. Simon’s grandchildren, Sophia and Richard, followed behind them.

Old Master Lin’s sons and daughter-in-law greeted him with enthusiasm, while his grandchildren greeted him respectfully.

Old Master Lin glanced beside the empty spot next to Lin Ginxian.

"Where is your daughter?"

Lin Ginxian smiled awkwardly, sweat forming on his forehead. "She... she is traumatized by what happened at her school, so I let her have a small break until the rumors died down."

Old Master Lin’s face darkened. "She ran away instead of facing the problem? Is this how you are teaching your daughter?"

"That’s not it, Father! Things got out of hand at school. Rumors are very harmful. I have to protect my daughter from bearing the onslaught." Lin Ginxian had already come up with the excuse.

His men still hadn’t found Bei Sangyun. According to their report early this morning, Bei Sangyun wasn’t in the village, and her grandma wasn’t there either.

Lin Ginxian did not know where Bei Sangyun might be except for that place. He couldn’t find her. Without her around, all the blame and his father’s anger would be vented towards him instead.

Lin Ginxian cursed Bei Sangyun in his heart. He couldn’t wait to ’discipline’ her!

"Those rumors will die down on their own, as long as every one of you shuts your mouths," Old Master Lin angrily declared.

Lin Ginxian didn’t waste this opportunity to slander the fourth branch.

"This has all started because of Lin Ruo and his daughter! They want to ruin me through my daughter, so they spread such rumors. They need to be punished, Father! They ruined our family name!"

Everyone glanced at the fourth branch, their eyes burning, especially those who had been publicly mocked due to the rumors.

Lin Ruo narrowed his eyes and protected his daughter from their malicious gazes.

"What proof do you have that it was my daughter’s doing? Everyone here knows who spread it!"

Those eyes that were focused on Lin Sunji turned toward the Simons.

Sophia stiffened under their gazes, while Richard remained calm.

It was Mr. Simon who grew angered at the adults’ stares directed toward Sophia. He had already heard the whole matter from Old Master Lin earlier, and they had argued about it. His granddaughter was young and mischievous, so she was susceptible to making mistakes.

So what if his granddaughter disclosed that kid’s origin? She was just telling the truth!

He argued to Old Master Lin that the kid’s origin would be revealed sooner or later anyway. It doesn’t matter who revealed it.

Old Master Lin was angered by his tolerant attitude, but he could not do anything about other people’s grandchildren. So he could only vent his anger on his useless sons.
