Chapter 214: Angel

Slowly, the awakened that made it to the hundredth floor, many looked like they were at their death when they made it, but at least they made it.

But the number was cut by a great amount, with only a total of about three hundred awakened making it to the top.

Aren was happy when he saw the group had made it, the last to reach was Kira, she was completely exhausted, her entire body was weak.

She sat down, her back placed against the wall, the group surrounded her, Aren bent down in front of her, a smile on his face, "That was pretty impressive," he said with a calm smile.

"Don’t patronize me, I’m one of the last," she said.

"Yeah, but one of the first B ranked to make it, matter of fact, you made it faster than many A ranked," Aren said.

She let out a weak smile, "Tch, I guess that’s something," she said.

The group stayed together for a while for everyone to catch their breath.

After a few hours, Julius finally came out of one of the doors, his presence drew the eyes of everyone, he looked at them with a smile.

"Since everyone is here and the time has come to an end, let us start the final phase of the tournament. Everyone follow me," he said and then walked back through the door.

No one knew who he was, but they all got up immediately, rushing for the door. They all passed through the door and were instantly transported from there.

They walked into an arena, extremely massive, and around them were rows and rows of seats, all filled with awakened and even trueborn that had come to watch this tournament.

Massive light illuminated the place, ensuring that everyone could see. The crowd went wild with celebrations when the awakened all arrived.

Aren looked around the arena, he saw some VIP sections up above, and he could easily tell that those that were there were people of the top caliber, he could feel their presence even if he couldn’t see them.

Julius, who led them in, was about to start talking, but then suddenly there was a rift in space, and from it came golden light.

Everyone watched with fear and worry when they saw this, were they getting attacked inside the tower? Everyone watched, waiting to see what was about to happen.

From behind the rift came an angel, carrying six wings behind her back, she was the leader of the twelve that had presided over the meeting of angels.

When everyone saw the angel in the sky, panic immediately filled their hearts. Everyone knew that when the angel arrived, it meant the trial was about to take place. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"An angel?" Aren muttered, looking in the sky as the angel flew there, looking down on all of them. She had a blank expression, staring at them like she didn’t want to be here.

Everyone, including the top figures, all looked at her in the sky above, waiting for what she had to say.

She took a deep breath and then spoke, "As of right now, your War God competition has caught the attention of the gods, and they have decided to watch." Her voice was cold and detached, but the words that she said were heavy.

The entire arena went quiet, they couldn’t understand what was possibly going on right now.

She saw the confusion on their faces, but she didn’t bother to explain, she simply continued, "This tournament has officially become part of the God’s trial and will be used by the gods to see which awakened they’ll choose to be patrons over."

"Patrons?" Aren asked.

"Yeah, awakened normally get chosen by gods, those that are chosen gain specific abilities that might help them, but that means they also have to complete tasks given to them by said gods inside the trial to ensure that they aren’t punished," Kira said.

"This is the first time I’m hearing of this, how come no one told me any of this?" Aren thought to himself, frowning deeply.

"You mean they are about to turn this into some sort of game for their pleasure?" he asked.

"That has always been a main part of the trials," Kira said, she had a sad look on her face, "it has always been a game, nothing more, these gods simply enjoy watching us butcher ourselves in order to survive and fight to win the trials.

They make their blessings the rewards to do what they want," she stated.

"So doesn’t that affect how we complete the trial?" Aren asked.

"I believe they aren’t allowed to hinder the overall clearing of the trial, but they can make it hard for individuals."

"I see," Aren replied, he turned his eyes back to the angel, watching to see what would happen.

Julius, who had been standing and watching as well, stepped forward and immediately went on one knee, "Greetings, I am Julius Silver, a member from the Silver family," he said.

"Silver family? Oh, you are one of those royals," she said, her look of disdain didn’t change even slightly, but she showed a bit more interest in him.

"Yes, if I may ask, can we have a word with you, my lady, before you take control of the tournament?" he said.

She looked at him, her face twisted into a frown, "Are you telling me what I can do?" she asked, a certain pressure exploding from her body, it moved like a wave, slamming into everyone, people in the seats passed out, and only a few could keep themselves awake.

"No no no, please my lady, I would never do something like that. All I am saying is that we wish to make it easier for you to handle the situation," he stated.

"I do not need your aid, stand down human, the tournament is no longer under your jurisdiction, it is now a part of the trials like I have said, so all of you stand down," she said and then looked at the VIP section, flapping her wings, she appeared there in an instant.
