Spoiled by the CEO after amnesia!-Chapter 527 - 525: No Woman Would Dislike
He knew this little one’s temperament all too well.
Like a little bird, if she stayed cooped up too long, she couldn’t bear it.
If she were locked in the hospital room for a few more days, she would definitely become restless and ask to leave on her own. When that time came, it would naturally follow that he would take her and Zaizai back to Disheng. Let’s see what excuses she could come up with then!
"Yes, Boss!" the attendants answered in unison.
Jiayi looked at the retreating figure of the man, clenched her fists, and thought to herself that he was purposely trying to suffocate her like a bird, to make her have to leave the hospital!
Fine then! This place has good food, good drinks, good entertainment; it has everything. If she stayed, she stayed. At most, she’d put on some weight before leaving, and then see if he still had any interest in taking her to Disheng! Humph.
She pursed her lips, turned around, and went back to bed, continuing to press the remote to brighten the television and watched comfortably.
——
The night in Yunling spread across the sky above the city.
At the entrance of Renxin Private Hospital, a car had been parked for a while.
The car window was half open, and Su Yan, who had just flown in from America and rushed here from the airport, clutched at her palms, unable to stop the sweat that seeped out.
Just ten minutes ago, in the car, Su Yan had watched with her own eyes as Shangguan Yao and Liang Anya walked out of Renxin Hospital.
There was no need to guess; the two had just visited Jiayi.
Shangguan Yao and Liang Anya had finally found Jiayi.
And now, Jiayi must have learned about their past relationship and also realized that she had deliberately pretended not to recognize her. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Su Yan felt a chill run down her back and a bitter smile surfaced on her lips.
What’s the matter, was she scared now?
Actually, she should have known all along that this matter would eventually come to light, and Xiaoyi would inevitably find out about their past acquaintance.
Yet, clinging to that slim hope, she still did this foolish thing which was bound to be discovered someday, all for the sake of one goal— if Huo Zhenyang and Xiaoyi recognized each other a day later, she might have that much more of a chance.
No matter whether Xiaoyi wanted to be with Huo Zhenyang again, the mere fact that she had deceived Xiaoyi would have surely caused Xiaoyi to become wary, even to hate her, right?
If Xiaoyi complained to Huo Zhenyang about her, could she still remain with the Huo Family?
Su Yan’s palms dried of sweat, and she gathered her spirits, opened the car door with a flourish, and stepped out in her high heels, appearing as usual, and entered Renxin.
When she arrived at the VIP section of the inpatient department, the group of Huo Family attendants who saw her all came forward, greeting her respectfully, "Miss Su."
"Miss Su, what brings you to China?"
Su Yan smiled slightly, her voice still as calm as ever, "Hmm, the old master learned that Miss Chu and her child were kidnapped, and the Boss hurried back to China, very concerned. He asked me to come first to check on things." She paused, then glanced at the sickroom, "Is Miss Chu inside?"
Miss Chu was Huo Zhenyang’s woman. She had stayed in China and given birth to a young master for Huo Zhenyang. This news was almost universally known within the Huo Family. It was normal for the old master, after learning of his grandson’s kidnapping, to send Miss Su to the country to check on things.
The bodyguard nodded, "Miss Chu was frightened that day and said she was feeling a bit unwell, so she has been staying in the hospital for observation for a few days. She’s in the ward now; the Boss just left."
Su Yan mumbled a response and then seemed to ask casually, "Oh right, has anyone else come to visit Miss Chu today besides the Boss?"
"Yes, it seemed to be one of Miss Chu’s former classmates. They talked for the whole afternoon and just left."
So the three of them met and talked for an entire afternoon; they must have discussed every little detail.
Su Yan’s expression darkened, but she forced a smile, "Good, I’ll go in and see Miss Chu."
The Boss had said that without his permission, strangers were not allowed to see Miss Chu, but Miss Su was not a stranger. The bodyguards immediately stepped aside to let Su Yan enter.
Su Yan’s heart was racing as she approached the door and knocked twice.
In the ward, Jiayi was cracking almonds and watching an exciting part of her TV show with relish.
At the sound of the knocking, she couldn’t help sitting up, furrowing her delicate brows, what now, could that man have come back?
The door opened, and Su Yan walked in, gathering her courage, "Xiaoyi."
Jiayi’s gaze sharpened; it was Su Yan. For half a moment, her expression returned to normal, "Miss Su, you’ve returned to China as well? What brings you here?"
Seeing her expression and attitude towards herself, Su Yan was more certain than ever; she knew it all.
She took a deep breath, no longer hesitating, her tone full of sincerity, "Xiaoyi, I’ve come to apologize."
Apologize? It seemed she was quite straightforward and didn’t beat around the bush.
Jiayi’s lips formed a slight smile, mercilessly crushing Su Yan’s so-called apology, "You’re apologizing because you know Anya and Shangguan came to see me. Secrets never stay hidden, right? If I hadn’t found out about our past friendship, you would have continued to deceive me, wouldn’t you?"
Sparkling tears flickered in Su Yan’s eyes, and her nose turned red, "Xiaoyi, I don’t want to explain, nor do I seek your forgiveness or your sympathy. I just want to say, yes, I was momentarily blinded and pretended not to recognize you. I’m sure you can guess why, being a woman yourself. Yes, I like Mr. Huo; I’ve been his personal secretary for four years, spending every day by his side. Rather than saying I worked like a horse for the Huo Family’s branch in America, I’d say it was all for Mr. Huo. No woman could resist such a man, and as an ordinary person, I’m no exception. But I also know that once he finds out about you, remembers you, and reunites with you, there’s no chance for any other woman in his eyes. That’s why I panic at the airport upon seeing you again—after that, even if I regretted it, there was no turning back, so I had to keep up the pretense; one mistake led to another... But these past few days have truly been a torment for me."
She knew that only by coming clean could she hope for Xiaoyi’s forgiveness, and only if Xiaoyi forgave her, letting go of her anger, would she possibly be able to stay with the Huo Family.
Xiaoyi wasn’t the type to be cold-hearted; otherwise, she wouldn’t have taken care of her, an orphan, all those years ago.
As long as she was sincere, she was sure she could move Xiaoyi.
Jiayi’s gaze lingered on Su Yan’s face, full of regret and frustration, and after a while, she smiled softly.
This smile made Su Yan very nervous, sweat seeping out of her palms; what was the smile for, had she been forgiven?
"I can let the fact that you pretended not to know me go. But what about the phone call?" Jiayi couldn’t hold back her laughter; she could forgive anyone, but not someone who had almost killed her and Zaizai.
Who else could have hung up the phone call to Huo Zhenyang if not Su Yan? And Su Yan had even deleted the caller record, and turned off the phone.
Moreover, back at the warehouse, Yan Bin had said during the video call that he had tried to call Mr. Huo earlier, and it was Mr. Huo’s secretary who answered. Now that she thought about it, Huo Zhenyang had no idea at that time.
Meaning, Su Yan received the call from Yan Bin, knowing full well that she and Zaizai had been kidnapped, and she didn’t report such a serious matter to Huo Zhenyang.
