Spirit's Ascension-Chapter 89—Rough Plans
Cole wanted to approach the crowd of people all around to ask why they were here, but he remembered how the slums actually were.
"No one is probably ready to answer my questions," Cole said.
While he observed the people all around him, the people also seemed to be observing them.
Cole didn’t attempt to even question them; he only noted his unconfirmed thoughts and continued their journey.
About 20 minutes later, they arrived back at the building. While heading to his room, Cole stopped to check Mr. Evans’ room.
"He isn’t still back uhh," Cole said softly before continuing.
When they arrived back in the room, Cole sat down to look at the others.
"You guys probably didn’t have any sleep yesterday," Cole said with slight remorse.
The duo actually felt extremely exhausted, but for the sake of the mission, they had decided to go on and rest later.
"Oh no, We are fine," Bryan spoke up.
Linda was just about to ascertain that point when Cole suddenly cut them off.
"You guys don’t have to lie; I can see it."
"It is fine if you rest," Cole said.
"We are Awakened-Level spiriters; we should be able to hold on," Linda said proudly.
"If you can, please don’t, just rest," Cole insisted.
They were about to retort even more, but seeing the resoluteness in Cole’s eyes, they decided to listen and actually rest.
Since the room was so small and mostly empty, there wasn’t really anywhere for them to sleep.
The two, despite being uncomfortable, found a way to make do, especially Linda.
Cole watched the two of them quickly fall asleep the moment they got comfortable enough.
"They have really done so much in a night," Cole said while checking through the information in his hands.
Different parts of it were marked with separate marks to show varying levels of importance and other things.
"These three spots are the most likely to be the current hiding spot," Cole decided after observing.
He continued going through the works of the two, trying to get important information from them.
The sun rose higher and higher in the sky when it was about to get to its peak.
"Finally done," Cole said while dropping the stack of papers.
The two were still asleep, leaving Cole some time to try some things out.
He sat down in a lotus position and began absorbing Life energy. The moment he started the cultivation.
He felt something very wrong. Life energy was so bad.
The World Absorbing Mantra, as a soul mantra, was trying its best to get the purest form of Life energy but the quality appeared to be too bad.
It requires extra effort to take in the same amount of Life energy resulting in it taking a longer amount of time.
Since Cole had nothing else to do, he could only bear with it and continue his Cultivation.
More time went by, and Cole was still engrossed in the cultivation, only stopping when he heard a voice.
"So diligent,"
Cole was immediately distracted by that voice, causing him to open his eyes and check.
Both Linda and Bryan were sitting not far away from him, staring at him.
"Why were you guys staring like stalkers?" Cole said with a slight frown.
"You were so engrossed you couldn’t even hear us wake up; what else are we supposed to do?" Linda said.
"And why would we even stalk you?"
"I don’t know, you both might have a fetish or something," he said with a soft laugh.
Linda didn’t bother responding, only looking at him with a weird expression.
Bryan only observed from the side not interjecting at all.
The two bantered for a while more before the atmosphere grew tense again.
"What was your conclusion after going through the information, Cole?" Bryan asked.
"How did you know I have gone through it?"
"I know you will have; you don’t have to tell me."
"Yes, I have, and I have a plan in mind," Cole said.
The other two immediately sat up seriously and looked at Cole.
"What are you planning?" Linda asked.
"After checking through the locations you guys pinpointed, I have a rough idea of the most likely one."
"Since I have been in this slum, that place has been known to be the land of no return, so we should try it out."
"Land of no return, isn’t that too scary?"
"Do you have an idea how it got its name?" she continued.
"I heard there was an extremely shady gang base over there; that’s the only thing I know."
"Then that should be our first target."
"A group of thugs shouldn’t be a match for Awakened-Level spiriters like us," she said while looking at Bryan.
Since his advancement, Cole hadn’t really told anyone, and since he hadn’t fought in front of any of them since that time, they concluded he was still a Dormant-level spiriter.
Cole also didn’t bother trying to clarify the situation; he just smiled and moved to other topics.
"The best time to try this attack would be at night, since we would have the cover of darkness," Bryan finally spoke.
Cole was about to refute since he knew it would be obvious they would be expecting an attack at night.
But before he could speak, another attack began taking shape in his mind.
"That could work," He said out loud, both in acceptance of Bryan’s words and also of his own plan.
The three of them continued with the planning and all, with Cole telling the others about his newly cooked up plan.
"You aren’t too dumb," Linda said haughtily.
Cole was starting to get used to Linda’s words, so he didn’t bother replying; he only smiled.
By the time they finished fine-tuning all of their plans, it was already getting dark.
"Let’s try to cultivate a bit more to be in our absolutely perfect state," Cole said.
The others nodded in approval and proceeded to do just that.
While they were cultivating, the sun had finally crossed the horizon, and darkness had pervaded again.
Cole’s eyes flashed open suddenly as he thought,
"Let’s get the savings started."
