Chapter 541 – The current boss of Jiahe is Gu Shishi……!! (1)
Half way through the event, many of the reporters who were invited there started conducting interviews within the exhibition hall.
Even though they were slightly disappointed that Gu Shishi would not participate in any of the interviews but being able to interview the others from the Art Association and even Mayor Liu was still plenty.
Old Mrs. Chen and Chen Kexin, on the other hand, had Gu Shishi as their guide the entire time. They were able to appreciate the paintings while expanding their knowledge in ink painting.
As they were listening, a few people tried to get close to them but then attempted to back away again quietly.
By the time Gu Shishi, who was very focused on her explanation, noticed that and turned around, she happened to saw the person who was turning around in embarrassment as though she was just about to run away.
Their eyes met and there was nothing more than sheer embarrassment.
And this person was none other than the mother of the Gu family.
Her face beet red, she had her arms in those of the middle-aged man and middle-aged woman next to her, obviously in an attempt to pull them away.
.....Seeing that it was her, Gu Shishi stopped talking and nodded at Zhang Sheng, who was freeing himself from Mother Gu’s grab.
“Shishi.”
Both Zhang Sheng and Chen Yunping greeted Gu Shishi openly.
They both looked surprised and happy.
“Wow. We didn’t think that you were the artist of those paintings. Your talent is amazing.”
Recalling how Gu Jiangxin had once before begging for a painting in his friend’s circle and everything that happened after that, Zhang Sheng just wanted to laugh. That was quite satisfying.
This niece of his was someone who wasn’t afraid to retaliate when she was wronged.
He liked that about her.
Chen Yunping’s eyes curved from her smile. “Here we were wondering when President Huang Chuan called us in person and wanted to borrow the painting that you have sent over on Double-11. Your uncle had said that this would become a hot collectable item some day but we didn’t think that day would come so far.
“We were wondering where you found this amazing painter from. Turned out it was you all along.”
They were just going to come and greet her then return to exhibition quietly and not to disturb Gu Shishi.
Lo and behold, when they got to behind Old Mrs. Chen and catch some of the words that she was saying, they discovered that was the painter.
“None of the children in our family has achieved as much as you did.” Chen Yunping lamented.
The more she looked, the more she felt that her husband’s niece and nephew-in-law were extraordinary among their peers. They were both talented in their own ways and were good match for each other.
Having heard that, Mother Gu only wished there was a hole for her to bury her head in.
As Gu Shishi’s birth mother, she could only stand around awkwardly like a total stranger and listened to others praising her daughter. None of those seemed to have anything to do with her.
They might as well had been critiquing her publicly in broad daylight. She couldn’t barely hold her head up.
She had wanted to leave earlier but she wasn’t able to pull these two with her. Now she could do nothing other than standing there quietly and staring at the floor the entire time.
While Mother Gu felt awkward, Gu Shishi didn’t feel much better than her.
Luckily, Zhang Sheng only exchanged a few words with her before he went to look at the other paintings with his wife and sister.
“Aiya, look at your little precious. He’s being so super nice today. Are you happy being in a roomful of treasures?”
Old Mrs. Chen took the child from Huo Sishen and warmed up the atmosphere.
Sure enough, when Gu Shishi heard about her son, she broke into a smile right away. Patted her son on his bottom, she said, “He certainly was behaving today. He didn’t even try to chew the frames.”
Even when he was carried by his father the entire time with no toys, he didn’t fuss any.
He stared at the colorful decorations on the wall with his pair of dark, round eyes. Looking all over the place, he seemed to be more into it than anyone else there.
Whenever he got excited, he would make baby noises as he pointed at the wall as though he had figured out something and really wanted to share with his father.
Huo Sishen would play along with him when that happened and stuck his ear over to listen to his son’s mumbling as he drooled. He would even nod in agreement occasionally.
The father and son were really enjoying themselves
