Chapter 1438: Burning Flame Unit

Sein and Yuri spent considerable effort assembling the rest of the Burning Flame Unit.

When it came to mecha construction and maintenance, Yuri was far more knowledgeable than Sein, since this field aligned closely with her primary power system.

During the process, Sein discovered that the Magic Cube could do more than just repair Nexon’s intelligent robots. It could also restore Yuri’s mecha.

This was most likely a new function the cube had gained after its transformation and upgrade.

Sein could not help but wonder whether the cube could now repair a Magus World space fortress, or even a Gallant Federation battleship.

The answer was probably yes, though it would require immense amounts of materials and energy.

For that, the cube also needed to gather and analyze core data from countless technological artifacts.

With a world-class secret treasure like the Magic Cube in his hands, Sein could now be considered half a “mechanic”.

The paintwork of the Burning Flame Unit was left to Yuri.

With her artistic skills, the giant metal construct was turned into a striking mecha with patterns of surging flames on its armor.

Sein never had an eye for aesthetics—practicality always came first for him.

Even so, he was impressed by Yuri’s work on the Burning Flame Unit.

Once all the upgrades were complete, Sein called Yuri to his side. The cube left his palm and flew toward the newly modified mecha.

Sein was currently attempting to grant the Burning Flame Unit “intelligence”.

This was a project he had long planned to tackle—to put the Magic Cube’s core ability to use.

He believed that one day, even his Faceless Mask could gain intelligence as well.

But when it came to modifying the Faceless Mask, he remained cautious and undecided.

For now, he intended to run more experiments and wait until the technology matured before making the attempt.

Refining a world-class secret treasure and bestowing it with intelligence were no simple tasks.

As the cube hovered above the Burning Flame Unit, glowing faintly, Yuri leaned against Sein and nervously gripped his hand.

To her, the Burning Flame Unit was like family. Their bond was no different from that of a Magus World knight and their mount, or a mage and their familiar.

The Burning Flame Unit might have only just gained intelligence with Sein’s help, but in Yuri’s heart, she had long since been “alive” and an inseparable part of her life.

That was why “Burning Flame” held such a special place in her heart.

“Theoretically, nothing should go wrong,” Sein said, giving her hand a reassuring pat that eased her tension.

A blue light erupted once more from the Magic Cube.

This time, it did not scatter into countless smaller particles. Instead, a single beam shot straight from the top of the cube.

The beam struck the Burning Flame Unit, yet nothing seemed to happen.

The surroundings remained utterly silent.

But Sein, who controlled the cube, knew that profound changes were already taking place deep within the Burning Flame Unit.

Bzzt...

A faint spark of electricity flickered across the mecha’s metal arm before disappearing.

Yuri watched with eager anticipation, while Sein observed the process with a thoughtful expression.

After a long pause, the Burning Flame Unit suddenly roared to life. A red glow flared in her chest, and her eyes blazed with light.

The Burning Flame Unit was awake—it had “come alive”!

Sein turned to Yuri with a smile. “Go on. You can start by making friends with her.”

Bestowing intelligence upon a mecha was likely beyond the wildest dreams of the scientists of the long-fallen Neisse Civilization.

Such a miracle was only possible by merging the Gallant Federation’s technology with the Magus Civilization’s profound truths.

In essence, Yuri’s Burning Flame Unit was a fusion of three world civilizations.

The magicoins Sein had poured into it rivaled the cost of his own space fortress.

Yuri approached the Burning Flame Unit with pure joy.

This was not their first meeting—the two already shared a place in each other’s hearts.

Even the newly awakened Burning Flame Unit showed no hostility toward Sein or Yuri.

Endowed with intelligence by the Magic Cube, and recognizing Yuri’s profession as an engineer, the Burning Flame Unit felt an innate bond with them.

As Yuri drew closer, the Burning Flame Unit, having just adjusted to its new form, kneeled on one knee and extended her left hand.

Yuri stepped into her open palm, and the mecha lifted her gently into the cockpit.

As soon as she entered, the hatch sealed shut. The mecha, which had already seemed alive, suddenly radiated even greater power!

A mecha could only reach its true potential when united with its engineer.

Inside the Burning Flame Unit, Yuri could effortlessly access its advanced combat systems while also using her mind and abilities as an engineer to coordinate her other subordinate mechas.

Sein had already placed an order with Steel City for additional units.

These subordinate mechas did not need to be too powerful; combat strength at Rank Three or demigod level was more than enough.

Constructing stronger mechas came at a steep cost, and Yuri lacked the mental capacity to control higher-tier units.

To command multiple Rank Four or stronger mechas would require both Sein’s resources to build them and Yuri’s breakthrough to a higher realm.

As a large-sized world civilization, the Neisse Civilization surely possessed overlord-class mecha, though the true capabilities of such constructs remained a mystery for now.

Sein watched as Yuri tested the Burning Flame Unit’s weapons and maneuverability inside the divine tower’s experimental zone.

“The Burning Flame Unit suits her far better than Sky Tyrant she piloted on Nocchi. Still, there’s room for the two of them to refine their synergy,” he silently remarked.

He rubbed his chin and continued murmuring to himself, “Hmm, perhaps I should find time to visit Nexon’s intelligent robots...”

The intelligent robots needed the Magic Cube to reproduce. Now that the cube belonged to him, his bond with them was essentially unbreakable, not to mention the battles they had once fought together.

When the Burning Flame Unit’s construction and upgrades were finally complete, Sein did not immediately rush off to meet Aetherend and the others.

Instead, he made for Pyreling World, the main supplier of enslaved creatures under his control.

Developed by Sein and several other Rank Four knights and mages, Pyreling World now operated under a strict, almost scientific, system for selecting enslaved creatures.

With his stake in the plane, Sein could mobilize an elite legion of two million at any time for war.

Centuries had passed since Pyreling World was conquered, and by now, its native lifeforms had fully adapted to life under the Magus Civilization’s rule.
