Chapter 182 - Return to the Beginning [Special pt6]
Return to the Beginning [Special pt6]
It's time to hit the accelerator because things are about to get dizzying!
This Chapter covers the entire first year without detours or weirdness, offering a true first year experience"just the way Harry should have had from the beginning.
A year full of learning and the excitement of discovering a whole new world!
............
After Dumbledore's speech, the Sorting Ceremony began swiftly.
McGonagall started calling up the students one by one, sending them off to their respective houses, just as Harry vaguely remembered from his dreams.
Everything seemed to be proceeding normally... until his turn came.
At that moment, the entire Great Hall fell into a heavy silence.
Every pair of eyes locked onto him as his name was called, as if an invisible weight had been placed upon his shoulders.
Among all those gazes, there was one in particular that made his scar burn intensely, like a living flame.
Harry walked forward with firm steps, his face calm, under everyone's watchful eyes.
But instead of heading straight for the stool and the Sorting Hat, he veered off course, leaving everyone bewildered.
"Mr. Potter, this way, please "said McGonagall with a frown, her sharp voice cutting through the tension.
Harry, however, did not flinch.
He followed his own path, his gaze unwavering, until he stopped right in front of Snape and Quirrell.
The general murmur turned into an ocean of held breaths.
Harry greeted Snape with a mocking, arrogant smile, like someone toying with a familiar enemy, before turning to stare at Quirrell, his green eyes shining with an intensity that made the timid professor tremble.
From the central seat, Dumbledore narrowed his eyes, his expression growing serious, the frown hardening his features.
He knew something was coming, something slipping beyond his control.
"It's been eleven years, hasn't it, Tom? "Harry said, his voice calm but dripping with venom, each word cutting like a dagger". Funny to see you like this... reduced to a mere tumor, a parasite clinging to life.
As he spoke, he drew his wand with disturbing calmness, as if he were counting coins.
No rush, no nerves... just terrifying determination.
The professors exchanged confused glances.
Some, worried, drew their wands, fearing that the famous Boy Who Lived had gone mad.
"W-w-what are you talking about? I-I'm Quirrell... not Tom... "stammered the professor, his voice shaking, his gaze filling with fear and confusion.
Harry completely ignored him.
Instead, he turned to a corner where the inspector sent by the Magical Court was observing the ceremony.
He recognized her immediately: Nymphadora Tonks, the young woman who often accompanied Wanda to pester Stephen.
"Mr. Potter, if you have a problem with one of our professors, it would be wise to work with the staff to resolve it "Dumbledore intervened, his voice filled with authority, trying to regain control of the situation.
"Problems? "Harry let out a brief, dry laugh". I have no problem with a possessed professor.
I have a problem with what's possessing him.
"His eyes gleamed even brighter". And as Stephen said... you knew all along.
The tension exploded like a lightning strike.
Harry moved his wand swiftly.
"Expelliarmus! "shouted Flitwick, seeing the movement, trying to disarm him before he could do any harm.
But Harry, as if he had anticipated it, conjured a radiant shield with a simple hand gesture.
Flitwick's spell dissipated harmlessly against that brilliant barrier, and in a blink, chains of light shot out from Harry's wand, snaking straight toward Quirrell.
The possessed professor scowled, reacting instinctively.
He jumped aside, dodging the first chains.
"Stop! "McGonagall shouted, drawing her wand to try and contain Harry.
"Well... "Harry grinned, amused amid the chaos". I'm already the center of attention.
Let everyone witness!
With a flick of his wrist, his wand disappeared from his fingers, vanishing into the air.
Harry raised his hands... and then, as if responding to his call, the very walls of Hogwarts began to move.
The stones groaned, the floors trembled slightly, and from the walls emerged new chains of light, flying toward Quirrell.
The professor, desperate, pulled out his wand and managed to counter some of them, but it was useless: for every chain he destroyed, three more appeared.
In a last desperate attempt, Quirrell leapt toward a window, seeking to escape...
But before everyone's stunned eyes, the window deformed, turning into a solid wall, sealing his exit.
Hogwarts itself twisted under Harry's control.
With a determined motion, the chains wrapped around Quirrell, immobilizing him, binding him like an insect trapped in a web.
"Well then... "Harry said, approaching as the light bathed his youthful face with an almost ethereal glow".
Now, we can meet face to face, Voldemort.
With a simple gesture, he flipped Quirrell upside down, causing his turban to fall away.
A chorus of horrified screams filled the Great Hall.
On the back of the professor's head, deforming his flesh, emerged the ghostly face of Lord Voldemort.
The professors, wands in hand, stood frozen at the sound of the forbidden name.
"Harry Potter... "Voldemort growled, his voice filled with hatred, madness, and contempt.
Quirrell's face twisted in pain, his limbs writhing like broken puppets.
Suddenly, a strange transparent shield emerged around Harry and Voldemort, as if fragments of suspended glass floated between them, isolating them from the world.
Just a few meters. Only the two of them.
Snape struck the shield with his wand, casting spells to break it, but it had no effect.
McGonagall also tried to intervene, but everything was useless.
Dumbledore watched silently, his expression that of a man feeling destiny slip through his fingers.
His confusion, his frustration... and his distrust toward Harry were all too evident.
"You're good, Harry... you caught me on your very first day "Voldemort said with a twisted smile".
Much better than your beloved Headmaster...
"Ah... "Harry smirked".
I'm sure he noticed you from the first day.
Even with that disgusting garlic stench...
"His gaze turned cold".
The rotting smell of a parasite is hard to hide.
"Shall we finish this? Did you bring your wand? "Harry asked casually, as if inviting him for a stroll.
Voldemort was caught off guard, but quickly grinned maliciously.
"Not even sorted into a house yet... and I already know which one you belong to "he said with madness in his voice".
You want revenge... you want to kill with your own hands, don't you?
Then, with a sharp motion, he pulled a wand hidden in his sleeve.
Always prepared. Just waiting for an opportunity.
And Harry, without even trying, had given him one.
"Good. Attack "Harry said, opening his arms, completely vulnerable.
The shock was absolute.
Even Voldemort blinked in confusion before bursting into hysterical laughter.
"Mr. Potter! What are you saying!? "shouted McGonagall, pounding on the shield without being able to break through.
Snape cursed under his breath, casting every spell he knew " in vain.
Dumbledore wore the worst expression of all: a mix of restrained fury, helplessness, and a flicker of fear.
"Hahahaha! So, you seek death! "Voldemort laughed, his voice an echo of pure madness".
Poor child! Don't worry! I'll grant it to you!
He raised his wand.
"AVADA KEDAVRA!
A green blast shot through the air and struck Harry squarely in the chest.
Everyone screamed. Some children cried.
Harry felt the pain in his forehead for a second.
One agonizing heartbeat...
And then, nothing.
The sensation vanished completely.
Before everyone's eyes, Harry remained standing.
The chains restraining Voldemort tightened even more, snapping his arms and legs with sinister cracks.
Voldemort's face twisted in terror and confusion.
Harry, with a serene smile, slowly opened his eyes.
"Well... that was dangerous.
I'm sure I'd get a beating just for trying that.
Luckily... they're not here "he murmured with playful, enigmatic amusement.
"WHAT!? "Voldemort bellowed, unable to comprehend what he was seeing.
"Even though my aunt is dead... I still have her blood protection... for a little while longer "Harry said calmly.
The protective mirror shattered, vanishing into the air like stardust.
"Tonks, right? "Harry said, turning toward her".
Can you call Amelia Bones?
I think you'll have a brilliant report to file on your very first day.
"He grinned mischievously".
I see a promotion in your future!
With the same tranquility, Harry walked to the stool, grabbed the Sorting Hat, and placed it on his head.
Before he could even adjust it, the Hat burst out laughing.
"GRYFFINDOR! "it shouted joyfully".
Hahaha! After all that, there was no way you were going anywhere else!
The entire Great Hall remained frozen, completely shocked.
Meanwhile, Harry smiled... as if all this were just the beginning.
Unfortunately, Voldemort, cornered and desperate, resorted to a last-ditch move Harry had already anticipated deep down.
In a brutal explosion, his body shattered into thousands of pieces, unleashing a wave of fire and dark magic in every direction, trying to drag everyone down with him.
But Dumbledore reacted with superhuman speed.
He raised a massive protective barrier, a golden dome that resisted the devastating blast.
The infernal fire crashed against the shield like a wild storm, but it did not break it.
However, before everyone's terrified eyes, a dark, ghostly mist "like a shadowy novel" slipped through one of the windows.
Voldemort's spirit, still incomplete, had fled as Quirrell collapsed lifelessly.
The Great Hall fell into a deathly silence.
Fear seeped into their bones.
Hogwarts, that legendary fortress, had been compromised before everyone's eyes.
A teacher had been possessed "and not by just anyone, but by Lord Voldemort himself.
"Please... everyone return to your rooms. You will be brought something to eat. Don't worry... everything will be fine "Dumbledore said quickly, trying to calm the students, though his face showed concern.
But everyone knew it wasn't fine.
They had witnessed something forbidden, something they were never meant to see.
Voldemort was alive.
And trust had been shattered.
Harry walked calmly alongside Ron and Hermione, as if nothing extraordinary had happened, leaving them both visibly bewildered.
How could he be so serene after facing Voldemort?
"Mate, you have to teach me that spell! It looked like space itself obeyed your orders! "Ron exclaimed, still amazed.
"Well, it's not that easy "Harry replied with a calm smile".
It requires a massive amount of magical power.
Actually, if I tried to cast a simple Lumos right now, I'd probably pass out.
"I didn't see that spell in any magic book! Chains of light, tearing space apart, controlling matter! It looked like you were moving the castle itself! "Hermione said breathlessly, her eyes shining with excitement.
"Ah, that's because you won't find it in any magic book "Harry replied, laughing softly".
You could think of it as... family magic.
After that night, news spread like wildfire throughout the wizarding world.
Outrage was immediate.
Thousands of complaint letters flooded the Headmaster's office.
Hogwarts was supposed to be the safest place for young wizards... and yet, on the very first day of classes, a possessed professor had almost blown up the entire school "right under Dumbledore's very nose.
Security around Harry doubled.
Aurors patrolled the castle corridors, not only to protect the students but also to keep a very close eye on Dumbledore's movements.
There were suspicions, there was fear.
Meanwhile, Harry made the headlines once again.
The Boy Who Lived was now also the boy who captured Voldemort.
Wild rumors started spreading: that Harry was more powerful than Dumbledore and Voldemort combined.
Although he knew the truth: Voldemort was so weakened he was barely a shadow of his former self.
Even so, Harry was certain of one thing.
Even if Voldemort managed to regain his body, this time he wouldn't stand a chance.
With enough preparation and a few traps, Harry would defeat him.
The rest of the first year passed in unexpected calm.
No trolls sneaking in at Halloween.
No attempts to steal any secret magical stones.
No one passing through professors' hidden traps beneath the school.
Harry also made sure Ron and Hermione became true friends, as they were meant to be.
An unbreakable bond, forged through companionship.
During the Christmas holidays, Harry returned home to work alongside Nicholas Flamel on magical research.
Then, he returned to Hogwarts to continue his studies.
It was a productive year, the year he had always needed.
A year like any normal student's.
Well... at least on the surface.
His grades were the best in the entire school, breaking several academic records.
But Harry didn't care about that.
Following the example of his older siblings, he spent hours in the library, filling the gaps in his knowledge.
Now he understood the importance of knowledge.
It wasn't about talent anymore; it was about preparation.
Curiously, Dumbledore barely crossed paths with him.
It was as if the old Headmaster was avoiding him.
Maybe he feared that Harry wasn't what he had always believed...
And for Harry, that was perfect.
Under pressure from Minister Fudge, the truth about Voldemort was slowly buried.
Publicly, it was said that it had just been some random dark wizard trying to steal Hogwarts' secrets.
Only the students who were there that night remembered the truth.
Harry had expected that.
It didn't worry him.
He just had to wait.
Second year was coming.
And with it, new challenges.
When the day to leave came, on the platform, Ron approached Harry with a big smile.
"Well, Harry, whenever you have time, you can come visit us at the Burrow. You know where I live "he said as he stepped off the Hogwarts Express to reunite with his family.
"You can also try calling on the phone, Harry! I'll be waiting! "Hermione shouted, running excitedly toward her parents.
And as everyone said their goodbyes, Harry spotted Sirius among the crowd.
His godfather looked at him with a proud smile, as if no words were needed.
