Chapter 677: Chapter 647: Strange Events One After Another_2
A mountain giant turtle named ‘Lindberg’.
Back then, when Templer, Debra, and others came from the Song Praise Plane to the Elf Plane, they just so happened to teleport onto Lindberg’s back. As soon as they met, they were all captured, and two were eaten on the spot.
This was an exceptionally ferocious turtle.
Who would have thought that in this strange place, they would run into it again.
“There’s a familiar scent on you… Forget it, never mind. You two little darlings came at just the right time. Old Ancestor’s so hungry, my shell’s loosened by a whole layer.”
Indeed, the Giant Turtle Ancestor had thinned from hunger, with a face almost skeletal.
This left Ivan somewhat baffled. As a throne-level powerhouse, no matter how starving or long they went without eating, they shouldn’t shrink to such an extreme.
“Retreat!”
With a casual wave, Ivan sent Anjie further back to a safer distance.
“That little one looks tender and appetizing. Let Old Ancestor have a taste—just one bite, I promise it won’t even hurt.” How could the Giant Turtle Ancestor let him act freely? It immediately extended its head and rolled its tongue forward.
The tongue was covered in yellow, green, and red mucus—not just saliva.
Anjie took a clear look at it and frowned deeply.
In fact, Ivan fulfilled his earlier promise, stepping in the way to shield Anjie from behind. But even so, Anjie still felt offended in that moment.
Ivan, however, had no clue. He was fully focused on driving the Wood Soul Tower to counter the impending attack from the front.
“Not bad, little one, you’ve got some decent speed.”
Seeing this, the Giant Turtle Ancestor didn’t care much and swept its tongue over. The tongue collided against the semi-enlarged Wood Soul Tower, producing a muffled “boom”.
The Wood Soul Tower, along with the sorcerer inside, was sent flying.
“This tower is nice too. Looks like it’s got some chew to it. Old Ancestor—damn it! Not again, wait, let Old Ancestor take a bite first!” The Giant Turtle Ancestor began craving the Wood Soul Tower. However, before it could launch a second attack, an abrupt change occurred.

Ripples appeared all around it, followed by its surroundings shattering into pieces, with a fissure forming below.
An intense pulling force surged from the fissure, dragging the Giant Turtle Ancestor downward. Though it grumbled loudly, it retreated into its shell faster than anyone.
“Go!”
On the other side, Ivan was also startled by the sudden turn of events. Frightened, he quickly distanced himself while sweeping up the now-dazed Anjie.
This was a spatial collapse. Once you fell in, escape was almost impossible, and with the constant spatial transitions, you had no way of knowing where you might end up—or what you might collide with during the process. The deeper you went, the worse it got.
Fortunately, the collapse didn’t outwardly expand much.
After retreating quite a distance, Ivan finally let Anjie down.
“Scared?”
“Mm-hmm, that thing was so disgusting.”
“Uh—yeah, it is a bit gross.”
He had assumed Anjie was terrified of the spatial collapse, only to realize her focus was entirely different from his. For a moment, he didn’t even know what to say.
After a brief rest, Ivan led the way again, and the two adjusted their direction, continuing their exploration.
After what just happened, Ivan became noticeably more cautious, slowing down their pace. After all, if a spatial collapse could happen once, it could happen again, possibly accompanied by other dangers.
As it turned out, his caution was justified.
After a day of searching, the white, endless expanse suddenly whipped up a wind. In his perception, the spatial distortions around them intensified, and with it, the danger multiplied.
Hopelessly, Ivan slowed down again, forcing himself to push forward.
But it didn’t stop there. The wind started as a southeast wind, directly opposing their route forward, and it only grew stronger.
Not long after, a northwest wind began to blow.
The two winds collided violently, causing undulations in the space around them. The spatial ripples were vividly visible, exposing hidden folds, cracks, overlaps, vortices, and collapses beneath the ripples.
Ivan continued forward, but he switched to walking, planting each step firmly.
“Mr. Ivan, don’t you think this wind is unusual?” After some time, Anjie couldn’t help but ask.
“I do. Feels like two people are locked in a tug-of-war, neither willing to give in,” Ivan replied.
“Then—”
“It has nothing to do with me, and it has nothing to do with you. So, no need to bother about it.”
Ivan had no intention of probing the reason behind it. Sometimes, the less trouble you stir up, the better.
“You’re right,” Anjie nodded repeatedly.
As time went on, the wind not only intensified but also began to swirl chaotically, eventually turning into winds from all directions.
If it wasn’t the east wind pressing the west wind, then it was the southwest wind challenging the northeast, or the north wind suppressing the south. Just as Ivan suspected, it was as if the winds themselves were locked in a grand conflict.
This segment of the journey left Ivan both steadfast and on edge.
In truth, he had no other choice. If there had been another path, he would’ve considered it before straying far away from this godforsaken place.
But he had none, so he could only tread forward along this cursed path.
“Something’s not right.”
“Mm.”
“Mr. Ivan, you wouldn’t leave me here alone, would you?”
“Miss Anjie, I’d like to think of myself as a man of my word. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have come all this way, taking such a significant risk to help Antoinette break free.”
Seeing that Anjie was truly spooked, growing visibly anxious, Ivan decided to chat a little more to calm her nerves.
“Remember what you said,” Anjie emphasized.
“Miss Anjie, everything is fine. No need to be so tense. Nobody’s going to abandon someone as kind-hearted as you,” Ivan reassured her. However, in the next moment, his expression froze.
As the saying goes, what you fear is what you get.
The very spot where they stood suddenly collapsed—as if standing atop a towering building whose solid base vanished beneath their feet, leaving them plunging uncontrollably down.
Just as Ivan reached out to grab Anjie, out of nowhere, an invisible force yanked him toward a different direction.
The pull was so swift he couldn’t even react.
To his surprise, this force dragged not only him but also the small area they occupied, inadvertently pulling Anjie along. However, the distance between them gradually widened.
“Mr. Ivan, what’s happening?”
Terrified, Anjie’s face paled, making her look pitifully vulnerable.
“No idea,” Ivan shook his head, withdrawing the hand he had extended.
“You—” Anjie stared at him in confusion.
“Sorry, you should be able to tell—I’m not in control of myself right now. Whoever’s power this is, I have no choice but to obey. My life is my only priority.”
Ivan glanced briefly at his waist, the meaning behind it clear.
“Mr. Ivan, you gave me your word,” Anjie frowned deeply, staring at him.
“I made a promise to Anjie—but you’re clearly not the Anjie I know,” Ivan said with a slight shake of his head.
“That certain?”
“This sorcerer isn’t stupid. The incidents so far haven’t been obvious enough? There were countless spatial anomalies around us, yet we made it through unscathed. Isn’t that a little too incredible?
So, who suppressed them?
If not me, then who? And you’re the only one left here.”
Ivan’s convictions were not easily swayed. From start to finish, he trusted the dangers his Soul Consciousness sensed—they were just being suppressed by something.
All along the way, he’d been pondering this question.
With all that had happened, he slowly directed his suspicions toward the only person beside him—Anjie.
No matter how unwilling he was to believe it, reason told him there was something wrong with Anjie—seriously wrong.
Even so, he didn’t act rashly. After all, anyone capable of suppressing so many deadly dangers single-handedly wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
Fortunately, the situation had finally reached a turning point, even if he still wasn’t in control of himself now.
