Chapter 53: TRACKING THE GHOST

VINCENZO’S POV

I was standing there, frozen, my eyes fixed on the screen of my phone.

What the hell?

I quickly typed back a message. "Who the fuck are you? If you have the balls, you wouldn’t be hiding beneath this" I angrily typed back, beginning to storm out of the building.

The message wasn’t even viewed and my anxiety heightened. Shit. Had they done something to her?

My first thought was to inform my father about it; he would take it personally as he felt he owned Adriana, but the last thing I wanted was for my father to use his brash methods and end up resulting in the death of her.

Nope. Not going there.

I needed to even be sure that they were at the warehouse, so I jogged over to the CCTV room where the Tech team was looking through the CCTV footage. They quickly paused their work on seeing me and bowed to me.

"We’re working fast, Don Enzo. We’ve got a few cracked videos from it, but it’s not clear, and we’re piecing it together." Will, the leader, stepped forward, but I cut him off, throwing my phone at him.

"That number" I pointed to my phone, my demeanor still calm. "Track it down. Now" I ordered.

He took one look at the number on the screen and he quickly went to sit, grabbing his laptop.

I sat down on a chair by the door to the room, waiting for him to say something. Anything. No matter how agitated I was, I would not rush into a trap. They could be trying to get me away from this place so that they could attack knowing it would likely crumble when I wasn’t there. I had to be sure that the number was there. How could I even be sure that Adriana was where her phone was anyway?

They could be smuggling her out for all I knew. She would cost so much. I had a lot of enemies so she would be worth a lot of money to the people who wanted to spite me.

I looked at one of the tech team who was staring at me, trepidation in his eyes. He was probably wondering what I wanted with them that I had to come personally. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"Fetch Val for me. Now" I growled under my breath, stepping out of the room just as he nodded and walked out, looking for Val where she was.

How did this happen? I had received no reports from my mansion to talk about a break in so how was she taken? Had she left the mansion? No, that wasn’t possible. Something was not adding up right now and I didn’t know what. It was impossible for her to leave unless she had...help.

Before I could contemplate more on that, Val reached me, annoyance and exhaustion mingling in her expression.

"What?" She asked, placing her hands on her waist; the tech member went back into the room, leaving Val and me outside.

The snow had increased considerably, but that was the least of my worries, regardless of how cold it was outside.

"I need you to call Henry" I nodded to her impatiently.

She pulled out her phone, confusion finding its way to her expression also. "Why do I need to do that?" She asked even as she dialed his number.

"Find out if everything’s okay and ask him to check on Adriana" I ordered, my foot tapping impatiently on the ground.

She nodded, not pressing further to know what was happening.

The man from the tech team poked his head out the door, nodding to me. "Don Enzo" he called.

I quickly gestured to Val that I was in there before I walked back into the warm room, collecting my phone back from Will.

"Where is it?" I inquired.

He shook his head. "Can’t tell. The person must have switched it off and taken out the battery, so we can’t track them," He explained.

Shit, that would explain why the person was no longer answering.

"If you could give me a few hours, I’m suㅡ" Will was already listing off the possible ways he could help but I didn’t have a few hours, damn it!

This was happening at the wrong time and everything threatened to make me lose my mind.

I ignored his words, stepping out of the room to sight Val, who was asking something on the phone, with a frown on her face before she hung up.

"Well?" I marched up to her, my boots making prints in the snow.

She tucked her phone back into her pocket. "Henry said everything’s fine there, but Adriana’s not in the house," She reported.

Fuck!

"Shit, shit, shit, shit," I cursed, pinching my brows together.

"What’s happening?" Val lowered her voice. "Is this about what happened here?"

"I have no idea, Val." I had already begun to walk back to my truck to head out. "I think Adriana left the house and she got kidnapped"

Val didn’t even falter in her steps as she matched my pace. "What do you mean she left? She couldn’t have done that!" She hissed at me.

I stopped at the car door and whipped around to look at her. "Do you think I know what’s happening here?" I retorted angrily and she shut up at that.

"Look, they said to come to the old warehouse downtown in three hours with no one. I’m guessing whoever did this is watching me and will, in fact, kill her if I come with someone, but if I’m not back by sunrise... inform my father." I gave her instructions.

"You can’t even trust..." she paused and sighed. "What do you want me to do now?"

"Leave my father’s mess alone and go back to the mansion and find out how this shit happened. Call Salvatore, tell him about this, and secure Grace. Nothing should happen to her. Don’t tell anyone else about this" I explained as I climbed into the driver’s seat.

She was still standing outside staring at me, hesitation in her eyes. "Don’t die on me" She whispered.

I smirked and switched on the ignition. "You know how I am. I’m one lucky son of a bitch"

I wouldn’t die.
