Sold to the Capo-Chapter 52: A TEXT FROM AN OLD FRIEND
VINCENZO’S POV
"Don Enzo" My cousin Damien quickly jogged up to me, his face hard.
"Where is he?" I asked, my tone hard and serious as I made my way to the main living room.
"He’s fine" Damien assured, matching my pace.
The whole place was buzzing yet grim. A lot of the guards were positioned strategically around the house and I was having a hard time that a random person had snuck into the house and attacked my father.
What type of dumbass would even say that? What the man I had tortured had said now made no sense, my father would not plan an attack on Gamma Haven and still get himself attacked. For what? Was it to make it more believable?
As I neared the door to the living room, I paused seeing the blood on the floor.
"Who bled here?" I asked, stopping to stare at the red blotch on the floor.
Damien looked down at it and shook his head. "I couldn’t get a good shot at the person" He admitted.
I rubbed my face. "You fucking missed?" I hissed, my voice low so that only he could hear me.
"He was fast" He quickly countered.
I felt the urge to just smash his head in but I held back, refusing to let my anger get the better of me. I didn’t want to go back to Adriana when I was bloodied; she had been scared when I had gone home bloodied that day, and right now, I was trying to form a bond with her, and it wouldn’t work if she was scared of me.
"We’ll discuss this later" I frowned at him.
"Don Enzo, we’ll secure the perimeter" I heard Val’s voice as she jogged up to me, cocking her gun.
"Do that. Check for any possible way that he could have gotten in and check the feed or something." I ordered.
This would be really shitty If the feed was wiped like that of Gamma Haven. I hadn’t still been able to recover anything from that accident.
I had also not been able to get back any of the missing kids. They were either dead or sold to traffickers like the girl in the woods. Fucking hell.
Grumbling a curse under my breath, I stepped over the puddle of blood, my gaze fixed on the door where my father was. Damien stopped at the door to allow me some privacy with the man.
As soon as I opened the door, I sighted him on the couch, his head thrown back and his eyes shut. I looked him over quickly, shutting the door behind him. He seemed overly calm, but I could see the first aid kit on the table, the used wools drenched in blood, and the bandage around his leg.
"You came" He didn’t open his eyes but he sounded pissed as fuck.
"It’s not every day that someone dares to try to assassinate you" I muttered, going to sit beside him. "How’s the leg?" I nodded to the bandage.
That made him snap his eyes and the murderous glint in his eyes was clear even from where he sat. "I’ve just been threatened in my mansion. How do you think I feel? You think I care about this?" He pointed to his leg, his eyes hard and cold.
I didn’t answer. Of course, he didn’t care about his life; his ego was far more important than that.
"No one can mess with the LaRosa Family and go Scott free. I don’t care how many deaths this would warrant but I will find who did this. The slimy bastard was fast as fuck" The anger in his tone was palpable, and suddenly, he leaned forward, swiping the kit from the table with his hand, sending it scattering across the floor. "Fucking son of a bitch!" He cursed.
He was truly mad. My father never raised his voice this high unless he was absolutely pissed, it had been years since I had seen him this way, and it gave me an odd sense of satisfaction; I only had to come here as a formality.
Whoever had done this was no longer just trying to get to me; he was trying to provoke the entire family, and his involving my father was bad for my private investigation. He would begin to probe while looking for his answers and he may find out my secrets if I didn’t hide them properly.
"I’ll call someone to clean this place up and also the house. You don’t have to involve yourself; we’ll take care of it," I assured him, even though I didn’t care about his life. Too bad the person missed. Someone as skilled at that couldn’t just miss though. Damien was a good shot, and he missed; my father had testified that the person was fast and someone who could pass through security despite how impossible it seemed, shoot the leader and sneak back out with nothing but a gunshot wound had to be remarkable. Why would the person just shoot my father’s leg? Why not straight to the heart? Was this a game?
I stood up, mulling this over in my head as I walked out of the room, noting that Damien had already ordered a maid to come clean up the blood, and the mess was being arranged.
"Damien..." I beckoned him over and he quickly jogged over to me. This is why this man was far better than Ravolo, he actually listened. "Everyone. Find out who might have a hand. Too many people here. Too many useless staff" I hissed at him. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
He nodded and left the hallway, leaving me here.
I immediately picked out my phone and sent a text to Adriana telling her that I would soon be home when I heard Valentina coming around the hallway too.
"What’s wrong?" I pocketed my phone, looking at her.
"Nothing. I couldn’t find a place where the person could have sneaked in from but Emelia said something about a tunnel somewhere. About to go check it out" She informed, her hair messy as she took in deep breaths.
"Yeah go ahead. I’ll come check It out" I muttered to her, my attention fixed on my phone.
Adriana had viewed my message but she wasn’t answering. I found myself anxious. Was she avoiding my message? She had no reason to even answer me. We never really texted anyway. Maybe I was pushing it too far by texting?
Val was already gone by the time the three dots popped up to show she was typing. Thank fuck.
However, the message I saw made my blood run cold.
"Vincenzo LaRosa. Such a lovely wife you’ve got. The old warehouse downtown in three hours. If I see one more person within a four-mile radius from the warehouse with you, I will kill her. I have eyes everywhere. Don’t bring anyone and you sure as fuck don’t bring a weapon. Three hours, Vincenzo. Say hi to Master LaRosa, that leg won’t heal for a while, hm?"
