Chapter 1669: Chapter 111 : The World Falls Away

*Briella*

I was never one for dresses, but this one was absolutely stunning.

I gazed at myself in the mirror, stunned at the curves I was seeing. My wedding dress was made of a soft, flowy fabric the color of creamy ivory. It fitted perfectly to my body and actually made me appear graceful even when still.

There were some intricate lace overlays and just a touch of embroidery along the neckline and around my hips. The sleeves were short and fluttery, giving the whole look an angelic feel.

I actually felt beautiful and radiant. It made me even more excited to marry Kryzen Stormfall.

My face heated as I imagined what his face would look like when he saw me coming down the aisle.

“Oh, Briella!”

I turned slowly, careful not to ruin my dress, and turned to face my mother. Alyna was beside her. Both of them were gaping as they looked me over.

Alyna recovered first and snickered. “Kryzen is going to pass out when he sees you.”

I couldn’t help the elated giggle that burst through my lips and did a little twirl. “Do I really look that good?”

My mother came up and hugged me warmly. “You look absolutely gorgeous, Briella,” she murmured.

I felt my cheeks heat. Alyna and the maids in the room cooed at the scene. I patted my mom’s back when I felt her start to shake. “Mom,” I said gently. “You can’t be crying already.”

The Luna of Drogomor laughed and pulled away, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. “It was inevitable,” she told me.

A quick knock sounded on the door before my father’s head poked in. His eyes widened when he saw me.

I felt another blush coming on. “Alpha,” I said curly, saluting to lessen some of the tension.

My father smiled warmly before stepping into the room and crossing the space between us. His hand rose so he could cup my cheek, his thumb brushing my cheekbone. I thought his eyes misted over for a moment, but they were clear when I blinked up at him.

“You look breathtaking, my little warrior,” he said. He dropped his hand and then shook his head in wonder. “Here you made it clear as a little girl that you didn’t want to lead a pack, and now you’re the queen in an entirely different realm.”

I laughed, though the irony had not been lost on me. “I suppose that I knew I would have to leave Drogomor one day,” I said. “It’s been such a crazy journey. I truly believe this is where I belong.”

“You already are an amazing queen,” my father said. “And I know you’ll continue to be. We are so proud of you. There are no parents in existence who are more so.”

My mom came over and took my hand, squeezing it tightly in agreement.

My father held out his arm to me. “Are you ready?” he asked.

I straightened and nodded, looping my arm through his so we could make our way to the altar.

It was still dark out, but the sky was quickly changing to a lighter blue as we neared sunrise. When deciding what we wanted this ceremony to look like, we finally settled on getting married right at dawn to symbolize the start of a new journey together as husband and wife and also for the birth of our kingdom.

The palace garden was decorated beautifully with wooden trellises woven with gorgeous flower blooms the colors of the sunrise. I let my eyes linger on the decorations and the guests who were currently beaming as they watched me walk down the aisle. I saw my brother, Kellan, waving at me with his big, signature goofy grin. Beside him was Kai, smiling softly at me.

I gave them each a grin before swallowing hard and finally allowing my gaze to focus on the man standing beneath the altar.

Kryzen was practically glowing. He was in a light-colored suit, just a shade or two darker than my dress. His hair was mostly the mess that I loved but a bit more slicked back than normal. His stormy gray eyes were intense as he watched me walk toward him.

I felt my throat tighten in that familiar way, which meant I was about to cry. I swallowed, trying to calm myself, but Kryzen was quite literally taking my breath away.

I couldn’t believe I was about to be his wife.

It took all my willpower not to jump into his arms once he was close enough. My father chuckled knowingly and bent to kiss my cheek before placing my hand in Kryzen’s.

As soon as our skin made contact, I felt a shock go through me, followed by a blissful warmth. Kryzen seemed to feel it too. His hand tightened on mine as he led me up a couple of steps to the altar, where we stood beneath an arch of flowers.

Mathias beamed at us before clearing his throat and beginning the ceremony. I could barely make out what he was saying but was making out the important stuff about love and commitment.

I was already crying when it was time to deliver our vows to each other.

Kryzen gazed into my eyes, his hands gripping mine firmly. “Briella, our story isn’t like the typical couple’s. I didn’t know you were the one for me when we first met. I actually thought you were nothing but an annoying little girl.”

Our family and friends laughed goodnaturedly. I could hear Kellan’s booming laugh over everyone else’s.

Kryzen’s eyes clouded over slightly, darkening with seriousness. “But going on this journey with you to save Embervale has shown me that you are everything I have ever wanted in a lifelong partner. You aren’t just brave and a fierce warrior. You are passionate and kind, almost reckless to a fault when someone is in danger.”

More tears slid down my cheeks at his words. I felt completely seen. This man knew me inside and out, and I could tell by his eyes alone that he wanted all of it.

“I love you so much,” he continued. I thought I heard a couple of stray sobs from our guests. “There is no one I would rather be ruling a kingdom with. I know I can do it as long as you are beside me the entire way. I vow to be the best husband I can be to you, always and forever.”

I gazed up at him in absolute amazement, wishing I could toss my arms around him at that moment. Instead, I took a deep, shuddering breath and began to deliver my vows. “Krzyen, when we met, I thought you were nothing but an arrogant jerk who was put in existence to torture me.”

More laughter rose up around us. I waited for it to die down before continuing. “But then, as we started to work together, I quickly learned that you would do anything for the people you care about. You showed concern for me when I needed it most and pulled me out of the darkness when I was feeling sorry for myself. You’ve helped me overcome so much...” I trailed off, getting choked up.

Kryzen squeezed my hands, giving me an encouraging look. I gave him a grateful, watery smile before continuing.

“I was terrified of becoming a queen, but I knew you would be an amazing king. We’ve already been through so much and have accomplished so much together. I love you, Kryzen Stormfall. I vow to love you for the rest of my life. And I’m going to cherish every second of it.”

Kryzen’s eyes misted over, a single tear sliding down his cheek. I tenderly wiped it away, causing the crowd to coo.

The guests went wild when Kryzen closed the gap between us, capturing his lips in mine. My head whirled, and the rest of the world fell away as I got lost in the kiss. I pressed myself closer to him, tangling my fingers in his hair.

I pulled away to find that everything was bathed in a golden light from the sunrise. I stared up in wonder for a moment at Kryzen’s beaming face. The gorgeous light from the sunrise toyed with the gray color of his eyes, making his deep orbs shimmer brilliantly.

We had a reception breakfast immediately after the ceremony with fruit, meats, eggs, and breakfast pastries. I felt like I was being passed around as I hugged every guest there. We decided to only have our closest friends and family members, which ended up being close to a hundred people.

Kryzen kept an arm around my waist the entire time, pressing a kiss to my temple every once in a while. I was completely content as I leaned into his side, barely even tasting the food.

Roy stood up, announcing that he was going to give a speech. He grinned first at me and then at Kryzen. “It brings me great joy to see the two of you together like this,” he said warmly, tossing us a fond look. He smirked. “Especially since it seemed like you two were going to kill each other at any moment during our mission in Celestial City.”

Roy had to wait for the chuckles to die down before continuing. “Now look at the two of you. You’re so obviously very much in love and ruling a kingdom together. Kryzen has been a brother to me for so long, so I’m ecstatic to see him find the love of his life. Embervale is in good hands. May you have a long and happy life together.”

I couldn’t tell you what else happened that night aside from dancing with Kryzen. I had hated balls and other events like it pretty much my whole life, but nothing could have been more perfect than that day.

Kryzen pulled me onto the dance floor with the teasing smirk that I loved so much. He held me tenderly as we swayed from side to side to the soft, romantic music wafting softly through the air.

I looked up at him, my hands on his chest as he cradled me close. “I’ve never been this happy before,” I murmured.

Kryzen spun me around before pulling me back against his chest. He dropped his head so he could kiss me, his lips warm and sweet against mine. “I will strive to always make you happier than you were the previous day,” he said tenderly.

I laid my cheek against his chest, shutting my eyes at the gentle beating of his heart. “You won’t have to try very hard,” I promised him. “You make me so happy just by being you.”

We must have danced for hours after that, but I couldn’t really be sure. I was only aware of the man holding me close. All I could see was his stunning smile and deep, gray eyes. The only scent in existence was his woody, warm one. The only sounds were the soft murmurs as he told me over and over that he loved me and the deep, rhythmic beating of his heart.

All I could feel was his warmth and love surrounding me completely.

I didn’t need or want anything else.
