Chapter 93: 93 - Guild Base

These last few days of grinding earned Lohan a large amount of Biomass and Experience.

And he didn’t let those resources go to waste.

While maintaining a safe stock of biomass to use in emergencies, any biomass beyond that was instantly spent to level up a skill.

With that, his status screen took a big leap forward.

Although he hadn’t evolved [Efficient Digestion Lv 16] to receive the maximum benefit from the gains he received with each level he rose, his digestion speed had increased tremendously!

Just with the gains in Base Digestion provided by leveling up, that value rose from 14.52 Bio/h to 36.52 Bio/h, more than tripling it!

[Viscous Flow Lv 18 → Lv 23] - 1.18 m/s → 1.90 m/s

[Hemolymphatic Tissue Lv 7 → Lv 10]

[Passive Digestion Lv 6 → Lv 8]

[Structural Stability Lv 11 → Lv 17]

[Membrane Reinforcement Lv 12 → Lv 22]

[Hydrophobic Coating Lv 1 → Lv 3]

[Poison Production Lv 1 → Lv 7]

These were the upgrades he purchased for the evolutions he had on Friday, a huge increase in his combat power that he spent over 2,000 Biomass to evolve all of this to its current level.

At one point, he wondered if it would be better to ignore the less useful evolutions and focus only on more powerful ones, but he felt that just ignoring them wouldn’t be very good.

Instead of distributing the biomass equally or just ignoring the less useful evolutions, he decided to level them up when the cost was low enough for him to buy several evolutions with just an hour of grinding.

And with the upgrades he received, his total digestion speed rose from 75.50 Bio/h on Friday to the current 260 Bio/h on Sunday morning!

When he took damage from an enemy, that speed tripled, reaching a staggering 780 Biomass per hour!

It had been a long time since he had such a big upgrade in his digestion speed, to the point that now Lohan was facing another problem.

With such a high digestion speed, he had no place to let this digestion run rampant.

Even without the [Hemolymphatic Tissue] active, with "only" 260 Biomass per hour digestion, Lohan was already digesting 4.3 Biomass per minute, which was enough for him to destroy all the grass and vegetation in his path, and still not use his digestion speed to its fullest.

The Mana Stones he could buy in Thalendor were completely consumed in less than an hour.

At this point, the only sources of Biomass that ’satisfied’ him were the corpses of more powerful monsters.

Just as the experience needed to level up doubled with each level, the biomass that a higher level corpse yielded was also directly proportional to that cost.

Knowing that elves disliked Slimes because they destroyed nature rampantly, Lohan decided to stop this behavior and focus on absorbing only enemies.

Considering that the stronger he became, the more powerful the enemies he would face would be, it would be better to focus only on that than to destroy the entire environment just for some irrelevant gains.

He hadn’t even bought upgrades for his size, considering that at this point he didn’t need it as much to digest biomass and that the bigger he got, the more inconvenient movement became... if he had evolved that even further, with [Hemolymphatic Tissue] active, he could perhaps exceed 4 digits of digestion speed per hour.

Among all his evolutions, definitely the most useful for combat and daily life was the upgrade of [Viscous Flow Lv 23].

Those 5 extra levels he bought increased his movement speed by 0.72 m/s, so that when he rolled at full speed, he could already move faster than an average adult walking.

Sure, if the adult ran, Lohan would be left behind easily, but at least now no one had to slow down anymore so he could keep up rolling alongside them.

Unfortunately, they didn’t receive any new features at Level 20, as he had imagined they would, leaving open the moment when the skills would undergo their second qualitative evolution, if such a thing really existed.

"We’re here." Lisa’s voice sounded in his mind, bringing his attention back to what was in front of them.

And what he saw was a breathtaking scene.

"Is this the Dungeon we’re going to conquer?" he asked in shock.

When he thought of a dungeon, what he imagined was a dark cave, full of monsters, traps everywhere, skeletons lying around... not this!

"Yes, considering the fauna and flora of the Thalendor territory, I didn’t think this would surprise you." Lisa replied, her voice slightly playful.

Looking at the gigantic tree, if Lohan had a throat, he would have swallowed hard now.

The tree before them was a vegetable titan that defied the scale of the surrounding forest.

Unlike the living trees of the Forest of Mythlorien, which pulsed with a verdant aura, this one was a monument of amber and fossilized wood.

The trunk, with a diameter that could easily house a three-story mansion, rose in twisted spirals of gray, rigid bark, so hard that it glistened like metal in the sunlight.

The "life" in the tree was frenetic, but it was not friendly and pleasant like in the other trees.

Through the circular openings that dotted the trunk, large insects constantly entered and exited.

Glass-shelled beetles, nearly a meter long and with carapaces that reflected the environment like mirrors, climbed the vertical surface with agility. Higher up, sinuous figures slid in and out of holes that functioned as natural windows.

The sound emanating from the depths of the trunk was a low, rhythmic hum.

"This is the base I chose for my Guild in Elysium, what do you think?" She asked, proud and expectant of his response.

For this project, she had devoted dozens of hours of research and exploration, wanting everything to go perfectly.

And this tree fit everything she was looking for: it was a bright, pleasant place, difficult to attack and easy to defend. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"A guild base that grows toward the sky instead of hiding on the ground... I like that," Lohan replied, also excited.
