Slime Evolution-Chapter 57 - Inside Information
"He’s approaching, dodge to the left and take advantage of his movement to counterattack with [Spirit Fire]." Lohan said as he clung to Lisa’s back and controlled his internal Mana to create an [Ice Spike] as well.
With the [Artificial Magic Core Harmonizer Lv 2], Mana flowed through his body naturally, extending out of the membrane with ease and molding itself into an ice spear in less than a second.
When the [Ice Spike] was fired, the Bear raised its left paw to defend itself while using its right paw to attack the position where the two small creatures were, thinking that it would land a sure hit since the small white creature wasn’t even looking at it.
But as if she had eyes in the back of her head, which she practically did, she took a quick leap to the left at the last moment, causing the bear to lose his balance by missing his target and leaving him unprotected for the white fireball that flew toward his head.
The last thing he managed to do was widen his eyes before the fire exploded and sent his large body flying a few meters backward.
Even though the explosion wasn’t powerful enough to send his body flying through the forest, that little push was enough to unbalance the big monster long enough for Lisa to conjure another fireball and hit his head again, killing the large creature.
Looking at it with curiosity and caution, Lohan finally received the notification.
[Experience: +6]
It wasn’t much experience for the power of this bear, but as he only served as support, not having much direct interference in this battle, most of the experience went to Lisa.
Lohan didn’t care much about that, having confirmed the bear’s death, he quickly jumped off the fox’s back and began to digest the big guy’s head.
Lisa didn’t mind this, as it had already been decided that this would be the last bear of the hunt today and that Lohan could spend a few minutes digesting it before she took him back to the clearing where he met the elf every night.
At that moment, she was only focused on the improvement she received from rising from Level 03 to Level 04.
For Lohan, the most noticeable change was that the energy in the air around her became stronger, and her body size also became slightly larger, but she was still slightly smaller than him.
But for Lisa, the changes were incredible.
She became stronger, faster, more agile, more flexible, her internal Mana increased, and even the ease with which she could control her skills increased.
Meanwhile, Lohan extended two small hands and began to turn the bear’s body over, opening its mouth to facilitate the digestion of the head and looking for any sign of something valuable hidden inside.
"Is any part of this big guy worth anything? It would be nice to be able to sell this for money..." Lohan commented a little frustrated.
Having finally opened up a possible channel to earn money, he was eager to use it immediately, but unfortunately he didn’t know what was valuable and didn’t want to carry useless parts of the bear inside him.
As a Level 04 creature, it was even possible that the bear had a Mana Stone inside it, but Lohan had no idea where it was, and with a body as big as this, the time spent finding that Mana Stone would be better invested in digesting more heads and killing more monsters.
Finishing evaluating the gains, Lisa suddenly asked Lohan something confused.
"Halon, why do you only use that ice magic?"
Hearing this question, Lohan replied absentmindedly, still rummaging through the bear’s body. "Because it’s the only offensive magic I know."
At this answer, Lisa tilted her head in confusion. "But haven’t you tried to learn other offensive magic?"
Lohan was confused by her question. "I haven’t received any new magic when leveling up, nor have I encountered any creatures with powerful or useful magic so far, so I haven’t learned anything."
"I’m not talking about that." She interrupted, extending her paw forward and generating a small white ball of [Spirit Fire], controlling it around her and frowning as she concentrated on the ball.
To Lohan’s surprise, the fireball gradually stretched out, turning into a line of fire!
"What?! How are you doing that? Wasn’t your skill a fireball?" He asked in shock.
But Lisa shook her head in denial. "No, my skill is called [Spirit Fire], I just use the fireball form because it’s the easiest right now, but little by little I’m developing my control to use it in more diverse ways."
--BOOM!
This information was a mental explosion for Lohan.
Stopping to think, he had never analyzed how [Ice Spike] actually worked.
In his mind, since he had received the [Ice Spike] skill, that was the skill he had available, and that was what he would use to deal with enemies.
But then he looked again at the description of his evolution.
[Magic Core Lv 6]
[The vital core undergoes a qualitative transmutation, becoming a magical energy engine. Emitting constant pulses that saturate the cellular structure, forcing the opening of Mana Paths through the biomass to support, filter, and circulate raw energy throughout the organism.]
’Actually, the description of this skill is literally the explanation of the formation of a magic core that mages in general use, and considering how deep all the systems and mechanics of this game are... if this really is a game, maybe it’s worth it for me to focus on trying to learn this too?
When this idea popped into his mind, it wouldn’t go away.
Lohan began to analyze his Mana control just as he controlled his own body, using creativity and trying to understand patterns to use it in more efficient or different ways!
Lisa noticed his state and didn’t interrupt.
This information was something her family had paid a fortune in government investments to obtain, and even though she had given it to Halon for free, she had no regrets.
’Now we’re even,’ she thought, shaking the cloth bag with 11 coins that now seemed even lighter.
